I have Kaiser too, can you tell me what the wait time was like for you? They are telling me 3-6 months before I would get to take the 6 week class and pre op work. Was that the situation for you?

Hi all, I'm in Aurora. I'm brand new to the boards. I have started to process to get sleeved but have a 3-6 month wait before I get my surgery date. Wishing everyone great success and I look forward to getting to know you all better!

What did you tell people at work?

I told my boss to give her ample time to find someone to cover my position, and at first I just said I was having a surgery and I didn't feel comfortable discussing the details. Later, I had a good talk with her about what I was doing, because she has always been fair and reasonable, and as expected, she was very supportive and accepting of it all. That being said, if I didn't have that sort of boss, I wouldn't feel the need AT ALL to share why or tell anyone who isn't going to be in my corner and be wholly supportive of me. I honestly don't feel the need to explain anything to anyone about my decision to have surgery, how I lose weight, or anything else that is my personal business, and neither should you!
  10. I'm new! I am a Kaiser patient, so I have a potentially long wait ahead of me, but I'm ok with that most days. I got approved last week and completed my introduction video and questionnaire. Next is waiting. They say the wait can be anywhere between 3-6 months, and then you start 6 weeks of weekly, 90 minute classes and pre-op blood work, etc. Then you do some sort of final pre-op appointment and surgery. So, if everything goes text book, and assuming I wait 6 months, I'll have my surgery sometime mid October. It would be much easier scheduling wise for me if it were sooner, but I have no choice in the matter. I'm prepping by learning to not have drinks with my meal, which has been a challenge so far, and by keeping my meal times set and not grazing throughout the day. I was pretty active a few months ago, but some illness kept me down for awhile, so I'm going to try and slowly build my activity back up.
  11. I'm very new to these boards, but your progress is one of the reasons I had the courage to start the process to get sleeved. So, just know that your transformation is very inspirational and has given me a LOT of hope!
