Gas-X strips in Australia?
beeteroo replied to Tigermouse74's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I used them and they were helpful for me. You can just as easily get another medication with simethicone in it. Maalox makes one. They even have liquid formulations for kids. Just look for simethicone as an active ingredient. -
Anyone had splotchy rash after surgery?
beeteroo replied to wannabesleeved21's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got a yeast infection under my pannus (man I hate that word). Couldn't figure out why I was so itchy. Started putting monistat cream on it today and it's already getting better. Those antibiotics wiped out all my bacteria and left me with yeast! I also have red spots everywhere there was tape. And it itches! I've been putting steroid cream on them. -

I've always wanted collar bones! -
I made pizza for my kids last night and at two teeny tiny bites. I just confessed. I chewed them about a hundred times. It's so hard I know. We just have to figure out a way to get through this without killing ourselves....because yes we could die from eating the wrong types of foods too early. Death is kinda scary for me right now....I'm ready to live. So I won't be doing that again. We aren't saying goodbye to food forever. This is temporary. I didn't get the sleeve to deprive myself from food. I got this done so that I could enjoy food without overdoing it anymore. The overeating was killing me.

I might have a business suit that's an 18....but that's it. I can't wait to go through all my clothes and get rid of them! This will be the last winter of me wearing any of the clothes in my closet! even my coat! I'm going to be broke! -

Had a sleeve and hiatal hernia repair on the 29th and today is the first day I felt like I could drink more than 15 ml at a time! I got a whole protein shake down and I sure feel better today! I started puréed foods today too. Just a few bites but it was enough to make me feel normal again! Going back to work on Wednesday. I actually feel like I could go back tomorrow but I'm going to give myself a couple more days to get used to eating and drinking. And try to build up my walking a bit more. still have ABD pain with deep breathing. It's actually increased a bit but feels more like muscle soreness. Hope all of you are doing well! -

Ok so I officially started puréeds today! It was the first day since surgery I've been able to get a whole Protein shake down too! I actually got 6 oz down at one time! That was weird. I ate some chicken noodle Soup that I puréed with canned chicken and some Protein powder (about 4 teaspoons of that mixture). Then I decided I needed to go to the store to get some provisions. I bought tons of puréed type food to eat! Baby food too! Probably enough to last me a month! As I was finishing up I got light headed, nauseous, and pale! Several people asked me if I was ok.....guess I took it too fast! When I got home I ate 4 oz of sugar free pudding in one setting! It slid right down. Then for supper I had refried Beans with plain Greek yogurt on top....about 4 tbsp of food. I over stuffed myself and got quite worried I had done damage. Then it digested and I feel great! It's scary being able to eat again. I'm quite sore still when I take a deep breath. Very little gas pains today. I think my body is happy that I ate real food today....it's no longer producing copious amounts of painful gas. I'm headed back to work on Wednesday! I feel like I could go back tomorrow but I'm afraid I will over do it. I guess it's going well for me. I have a lot to learn about head hunger versus what my body needs. I'm so afraid I will over do it and have a perforation! I also swallowed my pills today after I broke them up into smaller bites. Much better than crushing. Hope I don't regret it. Oh and I lost 12 lbs as of today! -

Hungry at 3 days post-op?
beeteroo replied to dsmith_rn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My diet is full liquids and Protein shakes from day 1 to day 4 post op then starting day 5 I can have puréed foods. This week I'm going to stick with cottage cheese, yogurt, applesauce, and maybe some baby foods. Just soft puréed foods. I may have some refried Beans too. And Protein Shakes of course....I'm not liking them much this week. They all taste like crap. Too many in my Preop diet I guess. Then after 2 weeks on puréed I can start soft food that I have to chew. Then after 1-2 weeks tolerating that alright I can go to a regular diet. These are my surgeons orders. Not my made up ones! -

I'll try to just cut them. I'm not sure I can handle crushing them much longer. My surgeon wants me to crush them for 8 weeks! Ewww -

How are all of you taking your medications? I have only taken them the past couple of days. I have to crush them. They taste like crap. What is something I can mix them in so they don't taste that bad? Any ideas? I start puréed foods tomorrow so maybe that will make it easier if I can eat them with applesauce or other puréed fruits. -

It was on the 29th. The commercials made my brain hungry but I know my stomach will never handle that kind of food right now! Lol! -

I was also sleeved on the 29th and I think I felt hunger today. Nagging painful stomach growling. I are some sherbert and the pain went away! I'm starting puréed tomorrow and we will see if it goes away with something a little more filling. -

And these pizza and Taco Bell commercials are killing me. I can move up to puréed tomorrow. Maybe I will just move on up to puréed! I was thinking that I would wait until I can get all my fluids in on clear liquids before I move up to puréed.....but pizza and tacos.....I'm sure I can purée those! Lol! -

I haven't been keeping track of calories at all but I'd guess it's well under 500cals a day. I'm mostly drinking Water, Jello, and SF popcicles. I was able to get down almost a whole premier Protein shake yesterday.....throughout the day. Not all at once! Today I've had a few oz of broth with unflavored Protein powder in it, 2 oz of jello made with liquid Protein, and 4 oz of water. If I drink too much I have horrible pains in my stomach. Feels like gas. I'm taking gas ex strips like crazy! Hope it gets easier. My pain levels are Pretty low today except for the gas pains. I feel quite thirsty but if I drink too fast I suffer the pain! Not sure about your teeth and gums! Take the brushing easy and do more rinses than brushes. Hope that gets better! -
I love pb2! They have a chocolate pb2 that I like the best. It is a little sweeter and I think it tastes more like regular peanut butter.

Going commando sounds like a good idea to me as a way to save money! Lol

Vomiting is not normal! You should call your surgeons office. I haven't been nauseous since the day of surgery. Zofran was my friend. Now I have some at home if I need it. So far I havent needed it. All day vomiting! I'm so sorry! That sounds miserable. -

I did not go on the two mile walk. My husband took our son instead. I'm not that crazy! Taking the drain out did not changed my pain levels at all. :-(. It's manageable. I'm just taking it easy this weekend. Happy to be getting down some fluids today. According to my diet directions I can start puréed foods on Sunday.! I'm not sure I'll be ready for those yet! A burrito sounds so good! I know that won't go down well! I made some jellies with extra protein in it today and I have had some chicken soup with protein too. I ordered some unflavored and some chicken soup flavored from unjury today. Glad I got their sample pack so I could see how each thing tastes. I'm over sweet drinks! The chicken is so nice warmed up and it goes down very smoothly. I think warm liquids feel better going down. Less cramping. -

I'm quite sore. I have a post op appt today and will get my drain out.! The first night home I pulled on it in my sleep and it's halfway out already. Darn. I sleep best with Lortab! Took some a few hours ago and still feel ok. I have liquid stools and tons of gas. Not the gas in your shoulders but in my GI tract! I have a two mile walk with my son tonight. Lol. We shall see if I can do it. I missed my oldest sons 8th grade graduation last night. ;-( right now I'm in bed and I don't want to get up! I need to take my regular meds but I haven't started crushing them yet. Really I just want to sleep. -

I think the gas strips only work of the gas is in your stomach or intestines. When I drink I feel like I'm swallowing a bunch of air so I've been taking them for that. It helps a little. Maybe I'm gulping my fluids.
