    Oil Pulling

You can get coconut oil in the baking section of the store. I think it's where the other oils are kept.

    Oil Pulling

I've been doing this for about a week now. My teeth feel much cleaner. I also use coconut oil and it is so gross until it melts. It's a texture thing. I thought I was the only weirdo out there. I'm reading a book right now about oil pulling that one of my coworkers leant me. It talks about how the teeth are the basis of most of our illnesses in our bodies. Heart disease being one of the biggest ones. It says that our bodies can be full of our mouth bacteria if there is ever any bleeding in our mouths. In my experience as a health care provider, I have never met one patient with nice clean teeth with heart disease. Those that come in for surgeries on their hearts usually have the nastiest teeth I've ever seen. Not all of them but most of them.

    Now THIS clarifies food addiction!

  5. Hello all! I've just accepted a job 1500 miles away from where I'm at now! I'm in the process of getting surgery though. I feel like if I don't do the surgery now I won't have the chance later. I was almost through the process in 2010 and lost my health insurance that covered it. Since then I haven't had health insurance that will cover bariatrics....until now! So I plan on getting it done ASAP. It will probably be May or early June. I'm moving mid June. Anyone had a similar situation? Am I crazy for doing all of this at the same time? Yes....I know...I am crazy. I plan to get the surgery done and go to my first follow up appointment then move and find a surgeon where I'm moving to to complete my follow up. Has anyone had problems finding a different surgeon to do their follow ups? Since it's the sleeve the follow ups won't be as intensive as the band. Need some advise.
  6. I didn't get asked that at all. I didn't want the bypass because I don't want to have to worry so much about all the nutritional deficiencies after surgery. :-)

    Nausea

Did the doc give you any medications for the nausea? Do they help if you got some?

    Embarassed

Oh my!!! This happened to me too! Like 5-6 times until my husband put up his own board on my side. I forgot about it until you reminded me. It does help make things more clear. Or you have a cheap bed frame! I've been there.
  9. I'm new or this site and happy I found this forum! I've been a nurse for 15 years and CRNA for 2 years now. I'm at the beginning stages of getting a sleeve. Have my first appt with the surgeon this Wednesday! I've been thinking about surgery for many years and almost had a lap band put in in 2010.....now that I've seen all the complications in my own patients with a lap band I'm happy I didn't have it done! I've decided to go to a surgeon and OR where I don't know anyone. I just don't want the people I work with know that much about me! I found out my insurance doesn't require any waiting period and I just need a psych consult so I plan to get it done as soon as possible. Since I'm not doing heavy lifting anymore at work I am not worried about when I'm going back to work. I am concerned about drinking enough fluids. How have you all been able to drink enough? I figured I would drink the entire time I'm out of the operating room throughout the day.

    HELP!....HAIR LOSS !

Thanks for posting this!! I'm super worried about hair loss and I've been told that protein is the key to keep from losing as much.

    100 lbs down!

Your surgeon sounds so "nice." Don't fall for his pressure. People keep losing weight after 6 months. Just do what you are suppose to and you'll be fine. He's been watching too much of the biggest loser.

    5 month update with pics.

That is awesome!! Love to see the transformation! Great job!!
  13. That's a great way to describe it! A long term gastric problem. Thanks.....I may use it. I don't want to tell my employer what kind of surgery I'm having. I just want to tell them that I've got to have surgery and need to take a bit of time off. I'm not interested in telling them all the details.
