I just had my surgery 3 days ago. My bypass took three hours do to existing hernias which made it a more complicated procedure.

I had my bypass on March 26th, 2014 so I am only three days out. I feel pretty good but still get very tired and can make it awake for only a couple of hours at a time. I have noticed today that I have been a little bit hungry off and on. I just can't get the protein shakes down. Anyone else out there experiencing any of this?

So, today was my first day of the two week shake diet before my bypass scheduled for the 26th of this month. I started the day with a good attitude and looking forward to starting this adventure. Trying to be organized, I made up my Breakfast and lunch shakes for today last night before I went to bed. I sat down at the table this morning to have shake #1 and nearly vomited. It was awful! It was thick like cake batter and I couldn't even drink the entire thing. Same with the shake I brought along to work for my lunch. I realized the trick to drinking them is NOT to mix them up until right before I'm ready to drink them. Any tips or suggestions?

2 Week Pre-Op Liquid Diet
sklemz replied to /KiMbErLy/'s topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Kim, I am 47 years old and weigh 267 pounds. I live in North Dakota. I am scheduled for the gastric bypass on 3-26-14. My surgeon requires the 2 week Protein shake diet prior to surgery. I need to drink 3 shakes a day and can have one diet frozen dinner (less than 320 calories) and 1 1/2 cups vegetables a day. I can also have fat free or light salad dressing, broth and sugar free Jello. Could you possibly add any of these to your diet? I was also told that I can add any kind of extract to my shake for different flavoring. I am starting this on Tuesday and am feeling very anxious about this whole thing. I have been trying to "squeeze in" all of my fattening favorite foods before Tuesday. Take care and I hope to hear back from you soon. Sandy -
Anyone out there that had to quit smoking?
sklemz replied to Stacyann81's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
My bypass is scheduled for March 26th. I quit smoking on February 16th after many years of enjoying this bad habit. I bought some of the electronic cigarettes that do not contain nicotine-only the Water vapor which has helped tremendously.
