All our post surgery members... what has replaced eating?
Stacyann81 posted a topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
So I'm currently 3 weeks away from surgery and I'm struggling with constantly wanting to eat. My therapist asked me what I plan to do once that time is no longer hijacked by food. So I guess my question is, has anyone picked up a new hobby or activities that can take your mind off food? -
Anyone out there that had to quit smoking?
Stacyann81 posted a topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Hi. Just wondering if any ex-smokers out there could answer this for me... My surgeon requires 90 days quit before the surgery and I'm 2 months in to that but slipped up and smoked a couple cigarettes in a moment of weakness. Do you think they will be able to tell or do the tests they do only go back 30 days? I'm really freaked out I will have to start over completely. Thanks, Stacy -
Stacy I'm trying to find it. What's the pic look like? my profile pis is a red square with an equal sign and it says damn straight I support it

well if you can bring a picture of your dog and you can tell me all about her if you start to feel overwhelmed. Since we will be there about the same time we can be surgery buddies

Chris I am so sorry. I can't even imagine the heartbreak. My own dog has been my source of comfort and strength and to lose her would devastate me. I hope you can pull through this and do this for him.

The More the Merrier!!! Welcome! My Bypass is scheduled for Monday and I totally feel the same way Excited and scared at the same time! I only have to do a 3 day liquid diet and started that today. I'm feeling hungry but motivated! My mother and sister are taking me to the beach tomorrow and I'm thankful for there distraction but not looking forward to a liquid diet on vacation LOL

5 days to surgery!!

Well my surgery is scheduled for 6/2/14 and I'm starting to really freak out. I gained a little weight since my last weigh in because I had a bit of a breakdown and starting eating all my favorite comfort foods. I have to weigh in again on the 27th of this month and I'm scared because my surgeon will cancel the surgery if she feels you have gained too much weight. I started the liquid diet early in the hopes to shed the pounds by the weigh in but I can't help but panic. I've been working so hard for so long for this surgery that I don't think I could bear to lose it now over one meltdown. I am starting to be anxious everyday and my normal coping mechanism for that is to eat so ARGH! I don't know if I'll get through this.

Hi! Just found out my surgery date (June 2nd!!) I was originally supposed to have surgery in may but my insurance company put me through hell trying to decide if they would pay for it. it's been such a roller coaster ride getting here but now I'm so excited. I found out on the 27th what my pre-op diet will be and I think it will seem more real then. Right now it seems so far away but 3.5 weeks isn't a whole lot of time. My biggest challenge right now is not gaining back all the weight I had to lose before surgery because I feel like I need to eat this or that one last time. Anyone else having that problem?

Anyone having surgery in May
Stacyann81 replied to Cupcake's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi I just found out that my surgery got approved after the insurance company originally denied it. I have been waiting a long time (or at least it seems that way) on this roller coaster. I found out today my final weigh in will be may 2nd and I will get my official surgery date then but it looks like May will be my month! -
Pre-Surgery and need an understanding ear
Stacyann81 posted a topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Hi! I'm Stacy and I am currently pre-surgery... I have to lose 30lbs before they will do the surgery and they put me on a mostly liquid diet and I'm struggling. My Friends and Family all support the idea of surgery but none of them are very helpful in the understanding and encouraging department. I think I am going through withdrawals from food if that is even possible. On top of that I had to quit smoking too, whew I knew this would be hard but I didn't imagine all this at once. Sigh... anyone out there that has any advice or coping mechanisms that might help. thanks Stacy -
So I got horrible news today, my insurance will cover the surgeon and surgery but not the hospital stay. I called the hospital and they said they will not make payment arrangements because the surgery is elective. I had to stretch my budget to be able to pay my portion of the surgeons fee and don't think I can pay the hospital upfront. Does anyone know how much the hospital stay runs? the lady on the phone would not tell me. I'm so depressed, I've worked so hard to get this surgery, made all the lifestyle changes and did everything I was told, and now I might lose the surgery!

Anyone dealing with Mental Illness and Surgery?
Stacyann81 posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Hi, I suffer from major depressive disorder; PTSD; and Social phobia. It seems like dealing with these issues while trying to lose weight makes it much harder (especially the depression) I'm trying to walk and stick to my diet plan but it feels like I'm doing this while carrying a 100 pound rock over my head (if that makes sense). Anyone out there that can relate? Any veterans out there that know if it gets better or easier after surgery?
