Insurance will cover my surgeon but not the hospital
Stacyann81 posted a topic in Insurance & Financing
Does anyone know if the hospital makes you pay up front or will they be able to bill you? I have the money to pay my portion of the surgery but I'm worried the hospital is going to ask for a bunch of money up front and I don't have it. -
How much weight did you loose on you preop liquid diet?
Stacyann81 replied to Boobear7's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I have been on a modified liquid diet for 9 days now ( I get one healthy choice frozen meal a day) and have already lost 13 lbs! It is really hard and I struggled very much the first week but now it seems to be getting easier. Although I still want to cry every time I see a Carl's Jr commercial! LOL -
2 Week Pre-Op Liquid Diet
Stacyann81 replied to /KiMbErLy/'s topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My Doctor recommended that I only eat the Healthy Choice frozen meals (I'm on 4 shakes a day and one frozen meal) especially the steamers since they are all like 260 calories. I am struggling with this diet and I get a meal so I can't imagine how hard it must be to go all liquid! -
Anyone dealing with Mental Illness and Surgery?
Stacyann81 replied to Stacyann81's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Thank you to all of you! I currently see a psychologist twice a month and he assures me that my symptoms will improve greatly once I start to lose weight. I am hoping he is right because I feel like a monster now and would love to go outside and not be starred at or laughed at. I'm already on a liquid diet (Protein shakes) and after 10 days I'm just now starting to tolerate it without being super negative and depressed. I have hope for the future for the first time in my life and that scares me a little because it would be devastating to have something go wrong and lose that feeling. I have lost 18 lbs since I started this journey and that is motivating me but I still cry when I see a Carl's Jr. commercial. Here's to leaving it up to fate and not freaking out too much! -
April 2014 pre-op group
Stacyann81 replied to KristinaRnY's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My final requirement was to lose 30 lbs before I could have surgery, I'm on a liquid diet so by April 9th I should be ready to go! They say they already started the final approval process so I'm hoping my surgery will be in April too. I have mixed emotions right now, I'm excited and so ready to start getting my life back but I also feel like something is going to go wrong and all this work will have been for nothing. everything seems so surreal the closer I get the less confident I am that this will get approved. -
From Surgeon appointment to surgery date!
Stacyann81 replied to Amanda729's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Anyone know how long the actual insurance approval takes? I have to lose 30 pounds before surgery which will be around April 9th. Do you think it's possible to have the surgery in April too? -
did anyone have a food funeral?
Stacyann81 replied to jtickle's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went through the same thing for almost a week I ate everything I love because I felt like a prisoners last meal. Looks like this is pretty normal from the sounds of the other posts. glad I am not the only one who got a little out of control at first. -
I have a friend like this.. toxic is right. While my situation is different (she's always been skinny and she thinks I'm taking the lazy way out) I had to cut her out of my life for now, we still remain "friends" I refuse to hang out with her until after my surgery and hopefully a large amount of weight loss. If you have tried talking to her nicely about it, then it's time to get blunt and strong.

I know the feeling I get angry and depressed too especially when I see a fast food commercial! I think it's normal, and as they say (don't punch me) this too shall pass.

Anyone out there that had to quit smoking?
Stacyann81 replied to Stacyann81's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Thanks that makes me feel better! Congratulations on 7 weeks not easy to do! -
Yes it's worth it! I was having doubts to and my psychologist says its just the brains way of trying to get you back to the only thing it really knows, eating and being unhappy about your weight. It's a scary thing so doubt is normal. You will find new things to do together and eventually will be able to eat/drink some of your normal things in moderation. I'm pulling for you and hope you stick with it. I'm on a liquid diet myself and completely understand the feeling of maybe this isn't worth it, but from what I hear from people who have gone through this already is it is TOTALLY worth it!

My surgeon requires you be quit for 90 days, I'm only a month away from surgery and I broke down and smoked does anyone know if they can check for nicotine more than 30 days out?

I'm just outside Portland in Happy Valley, did either of you use Emma Patterson for their surgeon? Just curious how the process went. I'm hoping for a surgery date in April but have to lose 30 pounds first.

Pre-Surgery and need an understanding ear
Stacyann81 replied to Stacyann81's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Thanks I can definitely use a friend that has been there! I'm going to try walking my cravings away. My Mother and my sister wanted to know where I was at in the process and all about my liquid diet so they invited me out to dinner. Ugg I totally get what you must be feeling with the Pasta right in front of you.
