Not loosing like I thought I would

You may be burning too many calories for the workout you do and the calories you eat. Honestly I'd try upping the calories, maybe an extra shake or two for a week and see what happens -
Costco had no problem at taking back a case of shakes, even if the case is half empty! I think it's a common problem but nothing else has that kind of protein in such a small container with such low carbs. Very very cold is the only way I can drink it though :-) love it in a blender with some ice!

I'm also in Washington state and I'm going down to Mexico for many reasons. The doctor I chose is Dr Aceves. He had far many more surgeries than the doctors here. He does 3 nights in the hospital and multiple leak tests over the span of those 3 days, also things they also don't do here. My flight is less than $250 and the rest is covered in their $8750 fee from the moment you get off the plane, including the first night in a hotel. Incredible reviews and his success rate (proper sleeve that doesn't restretch a bunch years later) is incredible. He was president of the Mexican bariatric society for years (they have been doing it longer than here.) Hope that helps! I'm saving up and will use their financing they offer if needed. 2 months to go!

You look amazing. I'm going to try to keep up with working out after surgery. This is great motivation! -
So I have 2 months to go until surgery. This morning while making my daughters pb&j this morning I decided it would be an awesome thing to have since I won't be able to for a very long time. Lol. I will savor the pb&j today! Anything you wish you had had before surgery or does this trend to magically eliminate that?

I wonder if the size of the straw /suction required is what the difference is. Most of the newer cups with huge straws don't require a much suction as skinny straws. Maybe that helps with not getting air in. Glad to hear most do fine. I'm pre op still, but a 99.9% straw drinker!

Weight Gained Since Having Gastric Sleeve Surgery
lylabelle replied to sleeve 4 me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
not sure where u r getting your info, but you are wrong. Well I've known some people who had bypass and never quite got to goal, and a few have gained back some - not a lot, but a few sizes. I guess the "stats" are still out on one way other another. But that was why I was asking about sleevers... only have known bypass people that had it done at least 3-10 years ago. -
Oh Seela!! I completely understand the diet pepsi thing. I already have crystal lite during the day but man a nice cold crisp diet pepsi when I get home is such a treat! That probably WILL be the hardest thing for me. I have heard some miss rice because they can't digest it well after. Anyone else had this experience?

I'm not worried necessarily that I'll never have it again or that I'm going to go totally over board... Was Just curious what people found they missed and *wished*they would have had before. I just enjoyed the pb&j. To be honest I probably haven't had one in a year... I think it's the thought that you *cant* have something that makes you miss it now, don't ya think. :-)

Weight Gained Since Having Gastric Sleeve Surgery

I love this, and I'm glad to see its not common for sleevers to gain. I feel like I see much more info on bypass people eventually gaining and not quite getting to goal -
What is a Proton Pump Inhibitor and is it the same as Pantoprazol

I'm also going to Dr Aceves. We can get that across the street from the hospital right? -
How has your life changed? Sports? Love?

So I love going through the before and after, its so exciting! I'm looking forward to my sleeve.. looking forward to things I haven't done because I've been bigger - a lot of which is how people will see me doing it. I didn't like how I was treated playing softball, even though I was one of the best on the team. I want to learn to scuba but terrified I might end up somewhere i have to wear a wet suit LOL And I rarely date because I don't feel great about myself... and when I had lost weight dieting and on hcg I didn't date becasue i was worried what would happen if I gained the weight back (which I did when I started eating more than 500calories again). I'm excited to have a permanent tool to keep it off! I've NEVER been thin, so these issues have been forever... there is no "get my life back" - I'm ready to START it!! What in your life has changed since loosing the weight with the sleeve? What are you doing now that you didn't do before?? -
Do you have reflux now? Never have? Gerd?

I'm curious if you never really had heartburn or acid reflux and now you deal with it daily? -

I'm enjoying your blog. You are a few months ahead of me and I hope to learn a lot from your experiences! I loved the soup trick (removing the chunks), as I dont know if I would have been able to do basic chicken broth for a long time. Did you find one kind better than others? My doc doesn't really require a strict pre-op diet, but I figure I'll try to do 2 weeks of what most people are doing anyway. Can't hurt and it will get the weight loss started!

Ive been reading tons of posts, looking at results, complications etc. I've also been looking at peoples final weights, and some from a few doctors seem to end up with a much lower end weight (120-130) than others who end up a bit higher. Just curious if anyone else has noticed this? I heard it has to do with having a doc who says they do a "tight sleeve." So, who did you choose, what was the cost and what was 2 main reasons you chose them?

I am very excited about getting the sleeve. I'e decided on Dr Aceves. I know he is a bit more expensive, but the results his people get are quite amazing, and I really like the idea of being in the hospital a few extra days, and mostly for the leak checks! I've sent my first contact information. My question is, do you pay everything AT the hospital right before surgery? Do you .typically make some payment up front? I think I'll be visiting the pawn shop to get some extra funds for this. I considered trying to go through insurance in the states, but I like Dr Aceves reputation, and I don't know how long they would make me wait in the states! Hoping to get in the end of May

Since much is required, does the sleeve just *help*?
lylabelle posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I've been researching doing the gastric sleeve. For my life I've never gotten smaller than a 14, and that was with atkins at working out 2hrs a day for many many months. Everythign works but eventually it comes back when I eat normal food and/or quantity. The best losses was hcg, but I've rebounded faster than ever after that and gained so fast, my metabolism is just shot. From what I'm reading, it sounds like most have to follow a strict diet of whole foods and work out daily to continue losing. I like that the hunger hormone is gone, is that the major help for most of you with the sleeve since you ended up still on a strict diet? Did having the sleeve just make it a lot easier to have a chicken breast instead of a cookie or something salty for dinner for example? I'm just curious about real world scenarios. I've been trying very hard to eat more often after the hcg killed my metoblism. It was easy for me, eating just 300 calories. But I never could go out with friends or anything or risk gaining 5lbs the next day for eating something other than meat, lettuce or tomatoes. A friend did this and I'm very excited to have something I just don't have to *worry* so much about! The roller coaster since I had my daughter is just driving me crazy (gained 50lbs in montsh AFTER I had her, throid went to crap). I want something more permanant and controlable. Does that make sense to anyone?? Also, I am a single mom and do nails.... I literally can only take a week off. I sit and can make my schedule a tad lighter. Do you all think that will be ok? I've seen the "spider" surgery where all the tools go through the navel, anyone had that done? I've had laproscopic before and have the scars to show for it I'd prefer for it to go through my navel and not create more if possible. Anyway I'm going to browse more posts. Just wanted some feedback from those of you who have been there! -

PS. The other laproscopic surgery I had was Gallbladder removal while I was pregnant. Any complications from anyone having that done before also?
