This is my 3 month anniversary and I'm 71 pounds lighter! I'm doing things I haven't done in years - like riding a bike! My heaviest weight was 400 and this morning I weighed in at 329.6. Needless to say I'm thrilled. Kris

8 Months & 120 Pounds Gone (& pics)

You look amazing. How have you gotten your arms so toned. I'm always working on my arms. I practically have weights attached to my hands anytime I have spare time. -
I think that's pretty common. I know I was wondering what in the hell I'd gotten myself into at about 8 days. Thank goodness I had done a lot of reading on here to see that it is pretty normal to go through a period like that. Just wait until the weight starts falling off. I am doing things that I haven't done in years and I'm only 8 weeks post-op. Hang in there. Kris

How are the ones who got sleeved the first week in april?
LadyCane replied to Tammylb's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was sleeved on 3/31. Went for my two week f/u today. I'm down 21 pounds. Advanced to puréed and had the most delicious cottage cheese I have ever eaten. Looking forward to a scrambled egg in the morning. I am never hungry but often confuse stomach rumbling with hunger so I'm working on that. I'm going to increase my omeprazole per my surgeon's direction to help with this. I wish I had done more mental preparation prior to surgery. I am struggling with head hunger. My surgeon said that three weeks out can be one of the toughest times. I just don't want to screw anything up. It was such a long road to this point. Good luck everyone. -
Anyone feeling dizzy and faint like

Could be low blood sugar as well. I was done on 3/31 and having trouble keeping my blood sugar up. I'm not a diabetic so wasn't on any meds to adjust. My nutritionist told me to drink 4 oz of full strength fruit juice once a day and that seemed to help. Also I don't think you're very well hydrated. -
Surgery is in four days!

The anesthesiologist is typically very sneaky and as soon as you get on the table they have given you something to relax you and then they put a mask over your nose and mouth and you're out. The next thing I knew they were saying my name in recovery. I didn't really have any pain that I remember at this point. My whole abdomen felt numb. You'll do fine. The anesthesiologist will come in and talk with you before surgery. Let the know you're nervous and they will be sure to get you medicated well. -
1st 12 hours after sleeve

For me the IV tylenol was a life saver. I had a pca of dilaudid but all it did was make me tired. I'm 8 days out and I've been taking Levsin for any nausea I have and it's really helpful. It's an antispasmotic from what I gather. I had to go home on Lovenox injections because my BMI was in the range that it is required at the hospital that I had my surgery at. I ended up staying an extra night and was very glad. Hope all goes well for you as you transition home. -
6 days out and diarrhea
LadyCane replied to aNewTanya's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm eight days out and I do too. I'm assuming because I have no fiber intake. I'm on full liquids for 2 weeks. I'm having a hard time getting protein in and this morning had a low blood sugar issue. I'll be glad when I move on to pureed at 2 weeks post-op. I guess the good thing is I'm not hungry at all. I'm down 20 pounds. -

Isopure? I don't like them but they kept bringing them to me in the hospital. You might see if they have any lactose in them. -
Day 2 Post Op, Any Hunger?
LadyCane replied to tekjr1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my vsg done on the 31st. I lost an entire day somewhere between surgery and today on anti-nausea meds. I was so loopy. I am still just drinking. Tried some yogurt this afternoon but that was a no go. I'm not hungry in the least. My incisions are not sore either which isn't what I was expecting so that's a plus. Overall I'm feeling pretty well. Hope you both are as well! -
Period during surgery, please help!
LadyCane replied to greensleeve's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I saw my surgeon today before my scheduled surgery on 3/31. I told her I had tried to schedule around my period... She started chuckling and I assumed it was related to this conversation we had been having in here. She said that no matter how hard women try to plan most women start their period on surgery day and it's nothing to worry about. Just hearing her say that made me feel a lot better about it. I'm a nurse and I know I would have no problem helping one of my patients with this. I don't know why I'm freaking out. I suppose because nurses are the worst patients. -
Lost control & feel like a failure!
LadyCane replied to MorganO87's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon gives his pre-ops a cheat day in the two week period. I know having the cheat day in my future during week one kept me on track. I think this is smart because they must have realized this day helps keep people on track instead of cheating every day. I used this past Saturday as my day and I'm a week out from surgery tomorrow. I did kind of worry that I plumped up my liver again but I guess they must know what they are doing. -
I'm so hungry and pissed. I literally think I'm going through the grieving process over my relationship with food. My sleeve is 3/31. Blah.

Pre-op diet timeframe?
LadyCane replied to cyoungblood's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I start my pre-op diet tomorrow for surgery on 3/31. I can eat whatever I want as long as it is 1200 calories/day. I get one cheat day and then liquids for the final two days before surgery. I went on a real bender this weekend. I don't think I'll be hungry for a couple of days. -
Several of my friends who have had VSG used Nioxin shampoo prior to surgery and have had good luck with it. I talked with my stylist yesterday and she confirmed that it's a good idea. She had lost all her hair due illness and used nioxin to help it come back. It was about $30 for a liter bottle but I figured it's worth it if it will help. The shampoo I usually use isn't much cheaper than that.
