Every single time I've slept since surgery I've had completely random and vivid nightmares. They can go from horrifying to just odd and scary. They never make any sense. At first I just dealt with it and now I'm sick of it. It's getting so old. Has anyone dealt with this too?

Any Nebraska people? I am having surgery in Lincoln by Dr. Hung. I'm almost finished with all my evals (last two Monday) and shooting for a May surgery! Any Lincoln or Omaha area sleevers?!

Biggest regrets about getting the sleeve?
Emarie07 replied to NewSetOfCurves's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Honestly it's my belief that it varies so much between people. For me, it was a walk in the park compared to c-section recovery. It just depends on your personal pain tolerance and your past experience with pain. I walked every three hours the afternoon and all night 1st day and didn't feel any pain besides the gas pain. Gas pain was the worst part for me. Everyone is different though. To someone else who has never had surgery it might have been really hard, and that's okay too. That's just IMHO. -
Ditto to being jealous! I have to wait until next Tuesday as well! It's getting easier, not easy by any means but I'm used to the same 5 things I always alternate between eating/ drinking. Lol.

Yes I am not having problems drinking water or my shakes but my dr said that it's due to the swelling already going down. I'm a fast healer (I've been told) so I kind of expected it. I still feel satisfied after 1/4 a cup of yogurt or cream of wheat just not over full and uncomfortably when I haven't even finished the 1/4 cup! Ps does everyone else eat out measuring cups and use baby spoons? Lol. I do so many dishes because me and my daughter compete for the baby silverware. I thankful I have a lot of measuring cups though!

Called my drs office today and they said I don't need to crush my Protonix pill. And I asked her about my Lexapro too and she said if it's a small pill no. Okay, so what about other pills? Like I'm wondering what size is pushing it? I am off my heavy pains meds but felt achy tonight and am wanting to take Tylenol but don't know if I need to crush it or not! This is frustrating! :/ Oh I'm 7 days post op btw! Lol

Wow you're doing awesome!!! I still feel hunger from time to time but I've heard that's somewhat normal. I didn't start feeling hunger until these last few days. It's nothing like before surgery though. I don't think I can do purée yet, but I'm going to call and find out for sure because I really want to move on to purée.

Ladies: How much loss 1st week?
Emarie07 replied to Comeflywithme's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm down 12 pounds since surgery! I think I had a couple pounds water weight going into surgery though but hey, I'll take 12 pounds none the less. I was a May 6th sleever (I know thanks captain obvious....lol.) -

And I completely agree it's educational in nature. Yes it's also somewhat negative but this journey is real and it's not all sunshine and rainbows and that's why I'm so thankful for this thread. I had a major meltdown today and I'm only day 7 post op. Now I see this and don't feel so alone. -

Um OP how did you get into my own mind and write this post for me. I mean this is my post, this is me exactly. Exactly. This forum is one of the best things to happen to me. We always think we are alone and the only one who feels that way. I'm not alone in this! Seeing my therapist regularly and sticking to my anti depressant medication is my plan. I hope that's good enough. -
1 week post op-need more calories?
Emarie07 replied to onajournee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
And I got 44 grams of protein in. Edit-the Soup was strained to be just the broth part so the calories might be slightly lower. -
1 week post op-need more calories?
Emarie07 replied to onajournee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm one week post op tomorrow too and I range between 300-400 calories normally. Today was a really good day and I got in around 650! So that was amazing. I haven't talked to my dr so I'm not sure if that's good or not but I feel fine unless I go too long without eating. -
Very interesting! Ya the spider stress dreams sound awful! Lol. I think when I'm stressed I normally dream about killing someone and needed to find a place to hide their body. That's one dream that I have a lot ever since I was a child. I'm sure it symbolizes something, just not sure what.
-
Thanks everyone! Well I'm off all my pain meds now and I feel great! My dream are still very vivid and odd but the last 2 weren't as scary. Hopefully it's improving, only time will tell! Thanks for the replies, I greatly appreciate them all!

I was sleeved Tuesday as well! I feel some energy coming back from time to time, my pain meds are all gone but I don't feel like I really need them tok much so I'm okay with it. I can eat thinned down cream of wheat with Splenda, carnation instant breakfast sugar free, thinned pudding with protein powder, and my premier protein shakes. It's very slow going with everything though and I can't eat more than a 1/4 a cup of the more solid foods and 1/2 cup of my protein shakes at a time. I eat out of a measuring cup and with baby spoons so I don't get carried away and eat too big of bites. I have found I don't tolerate anything savory except for mashed potatoes thinned with skim milk and unflavored protein powder added, however those taste so good I almost eat them too fast so then don't tolerate them. Tonight I found nothing would go down easy so I gave up and went to bed. It's nice to hear from other May 6th sleevers who are going through the same thing!

Biggest regrets about getting the sleeve?
Emarie07 replied to NewSetOfCurves's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
"Come to the light guys!" OMG I love this!!! And I needed to read your post! I struggled today. I'm only 6 days post off and am not having the best time right now. I'm committed to changing and making this work and rocking my sleeve to it's fullest advance though! I'm coming towards the light!!!!! Lol! -
That is such a good example to give! It's so simple and almost common sense but saying in those terms really just made my mind click and think about it differently! I'm only 1 week post op but I'm going to remember this when I hit foreseeable stalls!
-
Yaye!!!!! That's coming up so quick! Less than a month!!! Congrats!
-
I'm going home here in a few hours! Yippie!!! I hope you are too Wendi! Keep us in the loop!

Thanks ladies! Checking in with ya'll. So surgery went well! I've had horrible gas pain that hurts worse than my incisions and some major nausea that led to retching like crazy. I think I'm on max of all nausea meds. My gas pain is all in my chest and making me irritable like crazy! The only time I find comfort is walking. I've been walking every 3 hours since 3pm day of surgery (yesterday). The nurses are telling me it's amazing but it's the only time I don't hurt so bad so I need to do it! I can't wait for my hubby to bring gas x strips tomorrow, I've heard they do wonders! Hope everything is going great for you Wendi! Check in when you can!
-
Lol! I've been doing a lot of water, jello, and sleeping! I can't wait until bedtime, bc when I (and we...lol) wake up it will be sleeve time!!!!!
-
I'm 25 and I'm pre-op (surgery 6th of May), and I'm down 38lbs from my highest weight and I'm sad to admit I have a saggy vajayjay! It's awful. I don't know if it will get better or worse and sag more. Horrifying? Yes. Waaaahhhh. Let me just say it is possible, and depressing. I reached down there after my c-section and it wasn't the same at all. Maybe they messed up and that's why. I don't know.
-
Yaye you found the thread!!! I can't believe it's so close to our surgery day!! It's going to be great!!
-
I hope you have a great experience as well. It astounds me at how much I've been blessed to have this experience go so well! My surgeons office has a nurse that works one on one with patients and she gathered all my required info and submitted to insurance. She as telling me all the staff at the surgeons office couldn't believe how fast it was approved!
