Federal BCBS paid for my sleeve 100%, minus the copayments for the hospital and my surgon!
Emarie07 replied to Ambwee's topic in Insurance & Financing
I've been approved as of today!!! My surgeons office still doesn't know lol but as soon as they get the letter that insurance will be sending out today I can set up a date!!!! Yaye! Very quick approval, it was submitted 4/18 and approved 4/22 with a holiday weekend in there. -
On any given day I could sleep in late until like 10 and then nap all afternoon too. If I don't nap all afternoon then I can't stop yawning all day when I work. Is this just because of my obesity? Or is there something else possibly wrong? I want my energy back!!!! I don't want to sleep through life!

6mo post op. Down 101lbs. My success ..

Thanks for your reply!! That's amazing about your family!!! The friends part though.....ICK! That's horrible and I worry about that!!! I have never felt that competition part that some girls feel. I don't get their need to be that way, it's just hurtful. It's they that are missing out tho hun. Good for you for standing up and taking control of your life! I'm still pre op but I know plenty enough to know that it's NOT the easy way out. Some people have no respect for themselves or anyone else!! -

I'm so flooded with emotions!! I talked to my nurse yesterday and she confirmed that May will be my month!!! I have all my evals done and they all went great. Next steps are waiting to hear back from insurance, visit to my PCP, pre-surgery information class on May first, and getting my official surgery date of course. I am going to be trying so hard to get adjusted to this new life in advance best I can but boy is that harder then I thought it would be! Lol!

Okay I'm sure this topic is covered a lot here so I'm sorry if there is already another post on this. Anyway, I am wondering about how much the girls get deflated. I have had a large chest even when I was not obese in my high school years and all the women in my family are large chested as well. I know to expect them to go down quite a bit. I just want to know if any other women who have always been busty or have big boobs that run in their family have actually experienced that they still are large chested after the weight loss and how much they did go down. Sorry if I rambled! Lol.

I have looked into this and they do cover the removal of the pannus (tummy skin flap) as long as there are medical problems involved like multiple recurring rashes. -
Just wanted to post some pics :)

Nice to "meet" you ladies! How was your experiences? I'm hoping for surgery in May and will be done with all of my evals tomorrow after my dietary and exercise evals.

Thank you so much ladies you guys are giving me some hope! Lol. I'm a 44DDD so it will be interesting to see what I am after most of the weight is off. I'd be fine with a DD or a D even!

Do you have any advice or is there anything specific you did to lose so much in your first 6 months? Just wondering! -
anyone hoping for an early summer surgery?
Emarie07 replied to tiredmama's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Drink tons and tons of water, more than you can stand. It will help you lose any water weight and speed up your metabolism. I have to lose 1-2 pounds a week for the next 4 weeks or dietary won't approve me so I plan to eat very similar to how I will after surgery. Protein, protein, protein and veggies and hardly any carbs. And try to get as much exercise as you possibly can. That's my only advice. It's nothing we all haven't heard already I'm sure lol. But for whatever it's worth! -

I'm in Nebraska. I think Federal BCBS is the same no matter the state though as long as it's through a Federal employee. Although I know there is the standard and basic plan, but I can never remember which one it is! Lol. -

Emarie07 replied to tiredmama's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yes I'm going through BCBS federal. My surgeon thinks that I have met the requirements as long as I can get record of my weight watchers program that can count for my nutrition plan. I think that May sounds like a great month for this awesome life change! That's awesome your birthday is in May. I kind of wanted my surgery in April because that's my birth month, but not enough time to get everything done by then. And my insurance requires the 3 month physician supervised weight loss plan including nutrition plan, BMI over 35 w/comorbidities or over 40 (I'm BMI 48 w/ none), nutritional counseling before and after surgery, and seeing the exercise specialist before surgery, and have to have a diagnoses of morbid obesity in the 2 years prior to surgery. I'm really nervous about insurance approval but my surgeon seems confident about it! -

Yaye for May! I just got my exercise and dietary appointments set up for Monday. Everything is going perfectly to plan......SO FAR! *knocks on every nearby wood surface* I'm really freaking myself out about insurance approval though, but I keep telling myself that my surgeon wouldn't have recommended I go through with the process unless he thought I have a good chance of getting approved, right? Ugh I sure hope so! -
