  1. OK! I can officially say that I have reached 100lbs as of this morning. It may be by only a few tenths but I am claiming this victory.

I am so excited this was my real first goal and I have met that goal in 7 months. Must say that it is getting harder to lose weight now but I must remember how far I have come.

I have a funny story surrounding this loss. On Saturday night, I was having really bad shoulder pain. This pain has been off and on since surgery and can get excrutiating. Well, I tried Tylenol and Motrin and nothing was killing the pain so I decided to take my left over pain medication (OxyCodone) for it. I took the recommended dosage of 2 tsp. and went off into la-la land for the night. However, I woke up Sunday morning really not feeling well at all. I felt sick to my stomach and was breaking out with cold sweats and sleeping at the drop of a pin. It took me until 3pm to feel better and I couldn't figure out why I felt so bad.

I was talking with my Mom about it and she said it sounded like I had a hang over. I chuckled because I have never been hung over in my life and wouldn't know it if it smacked me in the face. We further discussed that I probably overdosed on OxyCodone since I was given that prescription when I weighed 100lbs more. So the motto of the story is if you have prescription pain meds that were prescribed at your higher weight you might want to lower the dosage so you don't feel as cruddy as I did on Sunday. LOL

Anyways, I am elated at the 100bls officially and now on to my next goal of 220lbs....the infamous Wedding Weight of 18 years ago.

    Love to all,

    Cindy

Clawing my way forward. Look out!!!

TxArcher and Hollyberries - when oh when are you two gonna cross that magic 100-pound mark???? You've both been teetering on the edge for quite some while now.

    Foofy!

I would kill for this last pound but for goodness sake it just won't drop off my body. How can 90lbs be so freaking easy and this last 10lbs take over 2 months. It is alright though because I have come along way.

I just started Water aerobics about 3 weeks ago and I love it. I am feeling it in my clothes. I am also lifting weights 2 days per week and water aerobics 3 days a week. I take the weekends off because I work at my store. I have found that eating is more difficult since my last fill. I have to be very careful or I am in major pain. This band is very finnicky and when I think I have figured it out it throws me another curve ball.

The batteries went dead on my scale yesterday so I haven't been able to weigh myself. I am getting one tomorrow so I hope this dang pound is gone. I just want to hit 100lbs and be done with it. After that I have only one more goal to get to my wedding weight of 220lbs. At the rate that I am going it will be freaking next year before that happens but you know this is a lifestyle change and I have the rest of my life to lose it.

By the way, you doing great. I love seeing you slow losers losing...you may surpass Archer and me at anytime now. By the way, the size 22's fit. I haven't seen size 22 in 14 years; since prior to my oldest son's birth. Wow that is a really long time. I just keep focusing on the NSV's that I am having with this 99lb loss so far and it really helps.

Keep up the great work and thanks for asking.

    Cindy

  4. sorry for silence, have been busy and kind of sad. Wife better but still sick, high white blood cell count and Fluid still left in lung are keeping her in hospital. we (me and kids) have just come back from seeing her over the weekend - a 400 km trip each way. I'm beat, will write more later. Thanks for not giving up on me Sades!

You are in my prayers Bandpal. I can feel the the sadness in your email. Do know that this is just a season and that your wife will get stronger. I know things seem bleak right now and difficult with trying to handle everything. Do you have any help? Do you have someone that can assist you with the children? You need to have some downtime for you. I wish I could fly over there to help because I understand how difficult it can be.

Cheer up buddy and know that you are thought of by your November Nymph family.

    Cindy

  6. Thanks Bay City, Congrats to you for taking the leap. Even with all the pain i am going through, I would do it all over again. There is nothing more satisfying then see the smaller #'s.

    Good luck and thanks!

I know this may seem stupid to ask but are you to tight? Usually you need a slight unfill. Again, I know that it is stupid to ask that but it is what I think it sounds like but heck I ain't no doctor.

    Best wishes!

  8. Thanks Cindy and Sades - my wife finally had a drain put in her lung and now we have to wait for everything to drain out. They'll also run an analysis on the Fluid and ascertain that the buildup has stopped for good before taking out the drain and sending her either back home to back to our local hospital. Tell you what - I have a new-found respect for pneumonia. I'm going to try to go up north and try to visit her for a day as long as I can find coverage for my three children, Moe, Curly and Larry [note: not their real names but an accurate characterization of their maturity, God bless 'em. No stooges were harmed in the writing of this post].

I hope your wife has a speedy recovery. Although, phneumonia is a long recovery and she won't be herself for a long while. You are a really good husband and Dad. Make sure you get some time for yourself.

  9. Cindy,

Why do you have two identical tickers in your sig line?

Here is my absolute favorite recipie.

    SALAD!!!!!!!!!

I don't know what it is lately... I can not get enough of the stuff! It does not matter what kind of salad, though I have been very pleased with the salads my wife has been making. It is hard to find one anywhere that surpasses the standard she has set!!!

I don't know what it is about her salads... I try to make one with the same stuff and it just does not work as well... Maybe it's all the love she puts in it!

    Archer Man!

It is just so you know that I am a pound ahead of you. LOL!

No seriously, I don't know. I had to edit the post and up came to sig. lines.

Good thing you can eat salads...I can't get one down since about 2 months ago. The last few days have been kind of tough. I have not been able to eat comfortably since my last fill. I have to take it real slow and chew chew chew. Although, I have lost 5lbs. The three that I was floating up and down with and 2 more. Yeah! Watch out I looking for 100lbs in the next few days.

Well, I finally lost 1lb. I have been on this plateau for weeks. The Water aerobics and the fill seem to be kicking in. Here is hoping to a whole bunch more soon.

Keep up the great work everyone.

    Cindy

  12. Cheri and Cindy:

I totally agree with it getting harder to lose. I've been playing around with the same three pounds for a month now. It does get a bit discouraging.

I think it's important to focus on all accomplished so far when there's a lull in the weightloss. I try to think about the fact that I can wear size 16's instead of 26/28's. I also try to think about how much younger I feel - about 20 years younger! I also think about how much better shape I'm in physically. I was able to ride my trikke/and walk for almost 2 hours at once today.

So, try to focus on the positive, follow the bandster rules, and we'll all get over the plateaus and to goal. It's a war, and we've won alot of battles already, but we have more to keep fighting.:wink2:

    Take care.

    Sue

    Sue-

Thanks so much for your encouragement. You and I seem to be at the same slow down. I lost 97lbs rather quickly but now know that I must exercise to get the rest off. I will dang it. I just wanted you to know that I broke my plateau this morning by losing 1lb. I am happy with that because it means this fill may be working. I started Water aerobics last week and really like it. I didn't actually think that it would work but I am lame when done.

We will make it.....We will endure.....

    Thanks again,

    Cindy

  13. I thought that it might be kinda of cool to get some recipes from all you Nymphs (especially those that can cook). I have made a few in the last few weeks that taste great and are getting me through.

Since my last fill, I have not been able to eat anything comfortably in the morning this this Protein Shake has been a God sent.

    Cindy's fruit smoothie

    1/2 cup 1% milk

    1/2 cup non-fat strawberry yogurt

    1/2 cup mandarin oranges

1 scoop of Any whey or powders? utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury Protein powder

    4 frozen strawberries

    2 tsp Splenda

    4 Ice Cubes

Blend until the ice is crushed.

This is my new addiction...I love it because it tastes so friggin' awesome. Almost to good! It also nets a huge glass.

For you Low Carbers this is great alone or on veggies or with RF Wheat Thins

    Cheesy Spinach & Bacon Dip

1 pkg. (10 oz.) frozen chopped spinach, thawed, drained

1 lb. (16 oz.) VELVEETA Pasteurized Prepared cheese Product, cut into 1/2-inch cubes

4 oz. (1/2 of 8-oz. pkg.) PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese, cut up

1 can (10 oz.) RO*TEL Diced Tomatoes & Green Chilies, undrained

8 slices OSCAR MAYER Bacon, crisply cooked, drained and crumbled or 1 Jar of real bacon bits

    COMBINE ingredients in microwaveable bowl.

MICROWAVE on HIGH 5 min. or until VELVEETA is completely melted and mixture is well blended, stirring after 3 min.

  14. Thanks Cindy for your reply. May I ask you what a typical days foods are for you? How much exercise do you do?

Looking forward to sharing with others who have been successful.

Well, even though I have lost a lot in a short amount of time, I have not really followed much of a diet. The rules that were given me were to eat Protein, fruits & veggies and then carb like foods if still hungry. I am a Protein nut so I eat a lot of protein. My typical diet is this:

Breakfast: 1 scrambled egg, 2oz. Jimmy Dean scrambled sausage, 1/2 oz Chedder cheese and 1/4 of Jimmy Dean Country Gravy. This keeps me satisfied for hours. Although, since my last fill this past Wednesday I can't eat in the morning so I am now doing Low-Carb Protein smoothies...which I love and am addicted to.

Lunch: what ever was left over from supper the night before but always protein laden and veggies. Today was some Jimmy Dean Country Sausage left overs and leftover cheese/spinach dip that I made for an appetizer for a church function all mixed together. That was good and about 1 cups worth.

Dinner: Crockpot cooked all day long chicken with Tyme, mashed cauliflower (mocked mashed potato).

Snack: I eat 15 almonds everyday as a snack. I am thinking about finding some soynuts as a snack because I love nuts but don't like the fat.

I have been on a plateau for about 3 weeks and can't seem to lose the last 3lbs to get to 100lbs.; so I have switched things up a bit to ensure that I lower my carb intake without going overboard. Today I have had 53 grams of carbs higher than most days but still low enough. I try to keep my calories around 1200-1500 per day mostly on the lower end and I log all my food on Free Diet Plans at SparkPeople. I weight myself everyday for accountability. I don't obsess over the scale like some but I like to know everyday how I am doing so that I don't blow it.

I give myself one down day to eat what I want but even now with the band I can't eat as much as I used to. Take Saturday night, I went out with the girls. We went to Uno's. I looked on the internet to make my choice before hand. I went with the Baked Stuffed chicken and Roasted Veggies. I split the meal in 1/2 and put it aside. I ate the other 1/2 the next day. I am a cheap date now. LOL!

As for exercise, I have not done much in the way of exercise up until recently. I have just started Water aerobics last week and really like it. I know that I will need to exercise in order to the get the last 80lbs or so off. I have slowed down for sure but I wouldn't trade my band for the world. I love my Band.

    Cindy

  15. What about a mentoring group? Maybe there is one in place right now.

I am rather frustrated that the band is not working but maybe I'm not doing all I could do. Perhaps speaking with a mentor, sharing foods eaten, exercise done, etc, maybe would help any of us stuck in a rut.

    Thanks!

Looking for help at all angles... feeling rather like the lap band is the biggest con ever pulled off ...

Although, I respectfully disagree that the band is the biggest con ever pulled off. I was fully aware that the band was just a tool but what I have learned is that we require support to get us through this journey. I can't go to support group because it is so far away but I have support right here on LBT. If I didn't have support I would have failed by now.

When were you banded? There is a support group on LBT for the month and year that you were banded. This is the best place to get support because they are the people that are going through the same thing that you are. The November Nymphs are my family and we have developed great friendships through the band experience.

There are lots of people who have been successful with the band that offer their experiences on-line here and I am sure would be willing to help you in anyway. Keep coming on here and posting your frustrations because you will find answers. Sometimes it may be what you don't want to hear but always done with respect for the band.

    Best wishes,

    Cindy

  16. That is one bodacious (there's my 80's contribution) bathing suit, Hollyberries, outdone only by the delighted smile on your face. We have a women's aerobics class on our kibbutz, they really grind it out - if anyone tells you it's not a contact sport, don't believe them! Enjoy, and here's hoping you've gotten rid of those three pounds by the time this is posted!

Thanks Bandpal! The 3 haven't left yet. They are stubborn. I think they know that I am in competition with TXARCHER. LOL! Are you back from the states yet?

  17. Thanks Cindy it feels great to lose more even if it's only 1 lb. That font makes it easier to keep the list neat... I must be anal! :woot:

I am anal as well. Must be from my corporate world days and having to do many reports. LOL I am glad your losing...I know how frustrating it has been for you. You are losing the weight I am not...you will catch up to us soon...

    Cindy

  19. Very good!.....when you start losing...... probably ......and very possible. I asked that very question to one of them and basically they are eating VERY little! the exercise part I think I'm in the ball park with, and people are now really noticing how good(better) I'm looking and asking me for diet info:lol: I find that a scream. If I eat as the great lbs. droppers do I'm still starved and where as I'm not losing as fast , the NP and I decided to go for more fill. I also think the fast losers are probably more motivated, or commited , or just plain have more GD self control than the rest of us. OR when the band stops them from eating either from being well tuned in to their body and knowing when they are full, or they just get that lump in the throat or get sick and forget the whole thing and don't eat. I'm very stuborn and don't give up. If I want it and it doesn't go down well, I just wait and try again later and generally have no problem the next time. I find it very hard to give up all the old habits. I'm surrounded by well meaning people that constantly try to get me to eat their "goodies" and I'm just a weak peice of S....... . so, you're on to me. don't listen to me, I'm not a good role model. ps, the NP suggested that maybe I needed a shrink. I'm rambling and sinking in the mud.

The bottom line is that this is ONLY a tool , the rest is still just another damm diet. oops, sorry, a "life style change" so if your heads not ready, it ain't gona work!

I will take this moment though to mention that I have lost 97 lbs from my life time high. AND, if I'm not sure of anything else, I AM sure I will not gain it back, and that my friends, is the band!

    Amen Cheri!

I have lost rather quickly in the first 6 months 97lbs. However, I had a lot to lose to begin with so I think that is why I lost so quickly. It wasn't until the 2 months that I saw a slow down. You see, I did most of my weight loss with little to no exercise. It just seemed to melt off. I wasn't eating a diet per se, just eating lower quantities of food somewhere between 1200-1500 calories. I like you agree that the band is just a tool and we must work it and that I won't ever gain this weight back. Although, when faced with the daunting fact that you have to lose 179lbs it seems like a mountain but I have climbed over half the mountain and now is going to be the tough part.

Now I am having to rethink my whole process. I have started Water aerobics which I do 5 days a week and I am doing some strength training. I am trying real hard to eat high Protein & low carb because my friggin hair is falling out for the rapid weight loss. I am so uncertain that this will work but I am willing to try it and am more determined than ever to get the last 80 or so pounds off.

I was thrilled to see that you have had 6 fills with 2.9cc's in your band. I had my 5th fill this week and have 2.25cc's in my band. From what I have been able to figure the sweet spot is anywhere between 2.5 & 3.0cc's in a 4 cc band. So maybe we will get there eventually, but I can't complain and won't because I have 100lbs give or take less on this body now and I still way smaller portions than I ever did and for that I am grateful.

Good post...even got a chuckle. Keep up the great job and attitude. We will conquer.

  20. Fabulous!!! You look like you're ready to go out dancing in a cute little mini skirt. Dang it - how come you don't have a double or triple chin? That's hardly fair....

    Foofy-

That is the first thing that I lost was the chin...if you notice the arms are flabby and the stomach is still there. I asked my surgeon yesterday why it is that we lose from the top down and the stomach is the last to go. He laughed and said everyone asks him that...

Now under the skirt lies extra flabby upper thighs. I went to my first Water aerobics class this morning and I loved it. I kind of amazed me how much it worked me out. I was skeptical but I liked it and I am going to go five days a week so that I can get the rest of my weight off. If you could have been a fly on the wall to see me so uncoordinated with the aerobics part but once I can do it watch out. Also, I was the youngest girl in the whole class. They were chuckling at me but I think I might have found something that I can stick with.

As for the mini skirt, my husband was drooling over me in the bathing suit. He thought the girls looked good. LOL

  21. I have noticed I can eat more lately then I should. I know that I could use a fill, But I am waiting till I come back from my 2 week vacation as I am really afraid to be too tight in Cancun. I just don't want to chance having any problems. so I have really been trying to live by the rules I have learned these past 6 months and only eat the same small amounts I was stuck at a platue for a few weeks but the scale is moving down again. :-D I have a fill scheduled for June 30th. a few days after we come home from vacation. My last fill was Feb 26th. some days it is hard to resist the urges to eat the bad things, But then I remember why I did this and that I have lost over 60 lbs and down from a too tight size 20-22 to a getting loose 14.

I love my band and I love that this tool is available for me to work with to better my life!!!

Awesome Job Shalee! You have done remarkable. Size 14 that is fantastic. You must be elated. Hell, if I am elated at size 22, I can't imagine you. I don't blame you on not getting a fill before vacation. Enjoy! What is good about the band is that it is forgiving and you can hope back on the train when you bet back.

Keep up the great work! You are a superstar.

  22. I don't have the pain that you all are experiencing but I have a really cool swooshing experience. I can only have liquids because of my 5th fill today. Every time I took a swig of Water, I feel it go down to a point and then it stops but then all of sudden swoosh right through the stoma opening. I have some pressure today but nothing painful. I do think this swooshing thing is cool but I am not sure about regular food doing the same thing...we will see.

Good luck and here is hoping to restriction.
