For your sake, I hope so too! Even though my surgery isn't until 10 am, I have to be there at 7. Yuck!! I know I'll be a nervous wreck while I wait! Best of luck, and stay in touch post op if you can!

So unreal!! What time is your surgery? Mines at 10 am.

Did anyone else not do a full 2 week preop diet?
Nurse96 replied to Justicenga's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor has me doing an Atkins Induction phase diet for the two weeks preop. It's high protein, low carb, no fruits or fruit juices. I'm almost done with my first week (surgery next week!!), and it hasn't been bad. I'm not much of a breakfast eater, so I've been doing protein shakes for breakfast and then two high protein, low carb meals for lunch and dinner. I've lost 12 pounds in the past week doing this. Best of luck to all of you waiting for surgery! -
struggling to have support and understanding...
Nurse96 replied to Angi~2014's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can so relate to your post. I'm a private person and have been extremely choosy in who I've shared the news of my impending sleeve (next week!!!) with. I've literally only told about 4 people. My mom, my aunt, my overweight brother, and a good friend. When I first made the decision to consider WLS, I made the mistake of mentioning that I was THINKING of considering it, to my thin, athletic, younger sister, and she was downright rude, yelling me that I was being selfish, that I was going to have compilations, that I was going to leave my children without a mother, on and on and on. We'll, needless to say, she is not on my list of those who know that I've having surgery next week. I've just developed a thicker skin and decided that I only want to tell those that I know will be supportive. Best of luck to you in your journey. Use this site anytime you need support! It's been great for me to read the stories and not feel so alone in this journey! -

Looking for a buddy! Surgery april 2!

It is so hard to focus!! I feel like the prep for surgery is consuming my life! Between the carb counting for the Atkins diet, stalking this site (and others) for any new info I might have missed, ordering post op protein powders and sugar free syrup flavors, food scales, vegetable steamers, cookbooks, etc., it's all I think about!! And it's been this way for at least the past two weeks. I'll be relieved next week once the pre-op planning is all behind me! -
I just said a prayer. My surgery is next week! Best of luck to you!!

I'm very lucky that I don't have to do a liquid diet pre-op. My surgeon just has me doing the Atkins induction phase diet (high protein and 20 carbs per day). It hasn't been bad at all so far and I think it's getting me trained on how the eating should go after the surgery. What about you? -

Thanks for posting! You're right! An exciting month for lots of us! I agree that this site is hard to navigate...especially from my phone which I use about 95% of the time! Best of luck with your surgery, and stay in touch. Mine is a week from this Thursday, on 4/3. Eeeek!! -
Best of luck to you!!

Fast and slow is right! Good analogy for how I'm feeling, too! -
I'm so glad to finally hear of some others having surgery on the same day as me. We should all keep in touch for sure. It'll be great to share our stories as we go through this process. Best of luck to all of you!!

I go to the doctor tomorrow for my final preop appointment, and I assume I'll have to start the diet on Thursday. I've got mixed emotions too...it might sound stupid, but it's almost like an old friend is dying or something. Food has been there for me at all times when sometimes people weren't, and it's scary to think of this change. I know that this will be a roller coaster ride, but hopefully one day I'll look back and see that it was all worth it (and you, too). I totally get the emotional piece of all of this, and I think that will be more of a challenge than dealing with the actual food restriction. Hang in there, and know that you're not alone.

When is your surgery? Mine is 4/3, and I think I will need to start my preop diet on Thursday. Unfortunately, I don't have any advice for you since I'm not on the pre op diet yet, but I will just wish you the best of luck. I'll be in the same boat soon. Hang in there.

I am!! My surgery is scheduled for 10 am on 4/3. I go to my last pre-op appointment tomorrow, and I guess I'll start my pre-op diet on Thursday. I have lived in SC for the past 2 1/2 years, but am originally from Ohio. Best of luck to you!! Stay in touch so that we can compare notes! It's nice to finally know of someone with the same surgery date!

You look so great and are very inspiring to those of us still waiting for surgery! I've been concerned lately about looking much older once I lose this weight (saggy, wrinkly, etc). So your picture came at just the right time!! Thanks for sharing! I get sleeved on 4/3, and can't wait to see my results! -

Hello. I'm an RN too, and my surgery is scheduled for April 3. Exciting, but scary, too. Best of luck to both of you! I'll look forward to seeing how we all do. I think the support through this site is amazing.

Hi Jacque! My name is Dawn, and my surgery date is Thursday, 4/3. So, just one day after yours! I'll gladly be your buddy!! I think it'll be great to have someone to share this journey with. Best of luck to you!! It'll be here before we know it! -
I just got my date today. I'll be getting sleeved on Thursday, 4/3. It's kind of ironic, because I've been jumping through major hoops to get a date for many months, and waiting anxiously. It was so strange that out of all the dates that surgery could be scheduled for, the day that I was given is the on my dearly departed Grandma's birthday. We were both very close and I miss her so much every day. I am sure it's a sign that she'll be watching out for me along the way. I'm excited that the date is finally almost here, but getting a little nervous as it gets closer. It's nice to have this site to remind me that we're all in the same boat, and that I'm not alone.

Hello!! I just got approved for my VSG today!! Yay!! I will get an official surgery date tomorrow, but was told it will be the first week of April. Crazy that it's so close!! Hoping to follow some other April sleepers along our journey to health!
