I'm doubting if I want the surgery...
mindylouho replied to Big Opie's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I wanted the sleeve and had my mind set on that until I had the reflux test and it was so bad the surgeon told me the sleeve was a big NO! I cried in front of him and he asked why I did not want RNY. I couldn't give him a good answer at all. I think in my mind that the RNY was such a huge surgery, but he told me he would give me a week to think about it and that if I was his family, he would highly recommend it. Needless to say, I went with RNY 10 months ago. I never had 1 problem at all. I'm so glad I went this way as I know 4 people with the sleeve and they struggle bad with reflux and their weight loss. In 10 months I lost 125lbs. I work out hard cardio daily and feel the best I have ever been. I am 30 lbs away from my goal weight. I eat so healthy daily too. It's work. I have been on 2 heartburn meds daily at my surgeons request for a full year, but do not have reflux ever. They will be taking me off of them cold turkey in 2 months????????. I was in your same boat, but it all worked out. Good luck -
6 months and 9 days post-op= a milestone today
mindylouho posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Today I jumped on the scale and I am 6 months and 9 days post-op. I hit my 100 lb loss in that amount of time. My blood work is fantastic. Getting my protein in everyday still. I worry as I hAve never really gotten full and feel hungry often, but document every calorie I eat in my fitness pal, all to make sure I don't overdo it. For those of you who have questions about doing this surgery as I did and almost chickened out, it was the best decision I made. I work out 5 days a week and know this will be a lifestyle forever. Now my husband is thinking of doing this as well. It was a great day today. Thanks for the support on here the last 6 months, it's been hard work for sure???? -
6 wks post op and something isn't right
mindylouho replied to sunnywillows's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
I had the same exact problem after surgery, it was because I was drinking too fast and eating too fast. It eventually went away. I even called the drs over it. Sip water and eat slowwwww. -
Hey guys, i am 3 months post op with rny. I need some healthy low calorie recipes. Im sick of chili and tuna. I dont take meats well unless they are crumbled and juicy. Sick of the same old foods- can someone send me some ideas? Protein based if possible too?

Anyone experience a 10 week post op stall? I am on a stall now for 9 days. I do a bootcamp 2 days a week and have not changed a thing on my diet. Im very careful about what i eat. Just want to know if this is normal. 9 days seems long to not have lost. Should i go back to my liquid diet for a while?

10 week post op stall
mindylouho replied to mindylouho's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you. I do fitness pal everyday so i know my protein, fat, calorie and carb intakes. I try not to go over 800 a day as my nutritionist said, but when i work out i add a tad extra in an extra protein shake. 9 days seems extreme for a stall- but thank you. I will try to modify my calories when i lose extra calories. Going to the gym today????! I am not the person who expects the weight off instantly, but i usually went 5 days- no loss, then boom- 3-5 lost. I was just getting worried at the 9 day stretch. -
Quick question, I am 7 days post op and feeling fantastic. I am full liquid stage still, but today I got a feeling like something is stuck in my lower lower throat. All I had today was protein shake, Greek yogurt and water and the feelings been there for a few hours. Anyone know what this is? Normal?

mindylouho replied to darby1430's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I eat Greek yogurt- banana cream, lemon or vanilla. 13 grams of protein per container. I put some cinnamon in the vanilla with a pack of stevia. But that's my go to meal all the time -
Does everyone have a drain after surgery?

Does everyone have a drain after surgery?
mindylouho replied to cpower100's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did, but it came out before I was released from the hospital. -
Does it feel like severe gas pains? Is it under ribs?
-
Walking and standing as much as possible kept the gas away since 4 hours post op. I walked all through the night and swayed back and forth the whole hospital stay. I only used my bed for the 4 hrs post op, never went back in after. Slept for a couple hours in rocking chair in hospital. They are not kidding when they say walk, walk, walk. It takes about 30 mins to an hour to feel it move in your body. I think that's why I healed so quickly and got released from the hospital exactly 24 hrs after surgery.

Hey guys... Surgery is monday and im scared to death. I origionally wanted the sleeve but got denied, as i had too bad of acid reflux, so i took time to think about it and decided i would go with the RNY. I have been reading tons of stories and seem like more people then not have had complications after, or a hard time recovering or keeping anything down under 2 months post op. Its only scaring me more. Is it really that bad? Or am i needing to see more of the 2 week post op feeling great stories? I need to know this is the right thing to do?
-
We'll everyone, I had my surgery yesterday morning and all went great. I was walking around yesterday evening all through the night as that's what feels the best. I am getting jello down today with no issues. They are discharging me today. Yay. Thanks for all the great words of encouragement. Long road ahead but all is great so far. Moderate pain but keep it under control.
