    April 2014 sleevers

Erin414... Don't worry about gaining .4 lbs a woman can easily gain and lose up to 2lbs at a time thanks to our wonderful hormones!! Plus your body is still adjusting to the new diet and trauma it just went through! Once you are further out and more healed, you will be able to really start exercising and you will notice more weight loss then! Keep your head up and remember, as everyone says, you didn't gain it all over night and you won't lose it all overnight! Like the tortoise slow and steady wins!! You have done great to this point and positive things are coming! Just keep following the drs recommendations and YOU WILL BE SUCCESSFUL!!
  2. Had my first post op appt today. I am 3 wks 1 day post sleeve. I have lost just under 27 lbs since surgery. The PA was shocked, she was sure I had surgery a few months ago! Between what I lost during the 4 months before surgery and since I have already lost almost 44% of my excess weight. (Too bad they didn't get me back is August when I started losing weight) Everything looks wonderful and I am returning to work next week (could have gone back at 2 wks but being a nurse and the only RN with over 45 patients, opted for 4wks off) my next follow up isn't until July and the PA stated she thinks I will drop a couple sizes by them, I just started fitting I to size 10 jeans so curious to see where I am the So excited and happy with how well I am feeling not just physically but mentally as well!!!

    First post-op appt=SUCCESS

From my understanding they take the initial weight from the surgeon. The insurance company didn't have record of the total I lost because I lost quite a bit before I started the process, so no issues qualifying. For the record some of what I lost before hand was on purpose and some was due to stress from going through a separation so....
  4. Surgery 4/2- was 238.6 2 wks post op was 219.4

    tall female sleevers...

I am 5'8". Current around 216 and bought a pair of size 10 Levi's today! They fit well in the stomach but are a lil too snug for my comfort in the legs. But I am only 2 1/2 wks post surgery so that's why I went with the 10s. My HW was 314 SW (approx can't remember for sure) 290s. My PCP will be happy with under 200, surgeon wants 145-150, but my goal is 160-165. I think I will be too small in the 145-150 range. Even my PCP told me I am very compact because I have never looked like I weigh what I do, hence being over 200 and fitting into size 10s.
  6. I am not that far out but have had some issues with head hunger already! For me, I know it is head hunger but the one response is accurate. Eating chicken and veggies for very meal for the rest of your life is not realistic. You can indulge here and there when your sleeve is ready for it but just make sure you are doing it responsibly and in moderation! My sister is 8 months out and she said when she craves something, she eats her protein, some veggies, and saves room for a bite or two of whatever sweet it is she wants. That way she can have a bite but doesn't have room to overdue it and it satisfies her urges well! I don't know if that will help you or not but worth a try!

    Finding out you don't qualify

Do you have any issues at all such heavy or irregular periods, pain in back, knees, feet, depression, pain on your heels, SOB, etcetera? Think of anything at all! I had a BMI of 38 when I started and minimal comorbidities, the dr actually had to search but not too hard cuz I had sleep apnea. Also you can use your family history if they have anything heart disease, diabetes, etc... They are finding that it is actually cheaper to treat obesity with surgery than to wait for the co orbiters such as heart disease, diabetes, etc.. So I would talk to your insurance company before deliberately putting weight on. Or as suggested try layering your clothes or a little weight in your bra.. I understand your extreme desire to have the surgery and would do anything to have it done as you are willing but hopefully you can find away without actually putting weight on! At the very least guzzle as much Water as possible before you weigh in to! You would be surprised how much water you can hold and how much the scale can increase!!

    Feeling dizzy and faint

Nikkib it def sounds like dehydration with you to! Even if your labs were ok, your BUN & creatinine might has been slightly off (which we nurses and drs say it's ok) but it means slight dehydration! I would try increasing your liquids and see if that helps!!
  9. I so agree! I can tell I have lost weight only when I put clothes on but not by looking at myself! I am only 2 wks post op. But in august I was 296 and surgery day I was 238 and today I was 219. I know there has to be a difference but just amazing me that I know I have a ways to go but still have the "I'm huge" mentality!

    "ONEDERLAND"

Congrats!! I am so happy for you and can't wait to get their myself! I weight every day but only officially "track" my weight once weekly! This morning I was 219 so only 19-20 lbs away from the ones myself! I am almost 34 and haven't been less than 200 since 6th grade so I can't wait!!!

    Showering after Surgery

I had surgery on Wednesday April 2, came home the 4th, & showered Saturday the 5th! I felt soooo much better after I showered. The water didn't hurt my incision but I was super careful not to "rub" the incisions and patted them dry afterwards! I am almost 2 wks now and the steri strips have fallen off and my incisions look fabulous, 3 out of the 5 are barely even noticeable.

Anyone having the sleeve in april?!

I was sleeved the 2nd and since around the 6th haven't had any pain and am feeling fine! No issues getting my protein or liquids in. The last 2 days have had no energy but up til then was doing yard work and walking over 4 miles a day. Think I just exhausted myself doing to much!

    diet pepsi lovers?

I was the same way with diet mt dew. I don't drink coffee and work overnights and used to drink at least 1L just at work! I easily drank 3-4L a day. I drank it right up til April 1st and was sleeved the 2nd. Just know there is hope. As I said sleeved April 2nd and haven't even thought about drinking a Dt dew let alone craved it! It will be ok . Just think of the "sacrifice" no Dt Pepsi for a healthier, skinnier, happier you!!

    Mini non scale victories :)

LBD congrats! I have never been in a plane but this is something many people talk about so I can only imagine your happiness!! *does a little happy dance for you*
  15. I am only 1 1/2 wks post op and down almost 16 lbs since surgery. But got in my car today and had to move the seat up 1 notch cuz felt like my upper body was a mile from the strafing wheel and when I looked down I could see the crutch of my jeans instead of my belly!!!
  16. My surgery was April 2nd and I would say since the 6th or 7th I have been feeling back to normal or actually better than my normal. My body, as far as how it feels, seems to responding well to no junk, caffeine, etc... I am having a hard time with not over dueing it because I feel so well!!!

    April 2014 sleevers

Erin414- how are you drinking them now? I am doing the Bariatric Fusion now until my shipment from insure comes in. I will tell you, after surgery I followed the direction on back for the "smoothie" with ice in the blender... Be very careful with that! It was so foaming after surgery it made me very ill feeling and I couldn't even get beyond 4 sips of it! Which flavor do you have? For me I have found, 6oz of skim milk in the blender bottled and hand shaken has been the best for me. The first day or two it was tough and I felt like I was choking them down. Now honestly they aren't the greatest but I actually look forward to the orange flavored one I have!
  18. Mine were finally approved and sent out Tuesday but wontbe delivered til Monday
  19. I am 1 wk post op today and just wondering how soon everyone started seeing weight loss after surgery? I know everyone is different and healing takes time but just curious?
  20. I like the idea of this thread! I am only 6 days port op but will say from reading through this site have not had to much unexpected! The possible only thing I either didn't think of, didn't read, or just didn't pay attention to is hiccups! I read posts on gas and burping every time you drink and what not but I get the hiccups frequently now. Thankfully they only last like 2/3 actual hiccups because they are moderately painful! Honestly the hardest thing for me is the head hunger when fixing my kids dinner! I start really wishing I could eat something and then have to step back and think is that my head or my stomach & it is always my head! But am grateful for this happening now too because when I am able to consume good again, I can use this experience to draw from and whether or not to eat Good luck to those going in soon!!!

Anyone having the sleeve in april?!

Erin, You don't know what to do as far as? The pre-op part, I only had to do three days of the Protein liquids before surgery so it wasn't bad but from what I understand the first few days are the worst and then it gets easier! To help the time pass, I sat down and made a list of everything I needed to have done before going into the hospital and then a lists of what to take. Each day I just made sure to cross one thing off the before list and I journaled A LOT to have an outlet for feelings! I also tried to do some form of work out each day (beyond the 3 days obviously) to make sure my body was the best it could be for surgery! Try to relax and enjoy the journey! Surgery will be here and gone before you know it
