Lacking genuine support but hearing horror stories
JustWatchMe replied to Shell88's topic in Rants & Raves
I agree with B52. Often the most critical people are obese themselves. It hits a nerve. -
Ex Lax, Miralax, Beneful, Metamucil, Senesomething, Activia, or what?

I just bought some Sunsweet Prune Juice Light. Nice lighter flavor and 50 calories for 4 ounces. We'll see. -
LapBand-friendly fast food (don't judge me!)

Not usually a food coward, but I can't bring myself to try sushi or sashimi. I know, I know. -

Soups are always a good go-to meal. Buona Beef has a great soup. Subway has soup too. -

No Moe's near me but Chipotle does those. Good idea. -
Loving it. Lumps and bumps and fat rolls be gone! Holds in my belly roll too. Glad I'm 90 pounds down and I'm not too hot wearing it under my clothes. Correction. I AM hot. The good kind.

Ok I just ate a Quest Cashew Coconut bar and it was indeed delicious. Sticky yes and hard as heck to unwrap and it looks like a turd (yes I said it) but it was good.

"agitation helps burn a few extra calories" I should be a size two by now. -
@@lisacaron, keep those "long ass posts" coming. They help me a lot. I can relate to so much you wrote.

Quest cashew coconut tastes great but it's so sticky I can't stand the texture. But it's not sickly sweet so that's good. They are here in my desk and going nowhere. Bought a whole carton and ate two. Someone suggested refrigerating them. Maybe I'll try that.

Just banded and in pain 5 days after :(
JustWatchMe replied to Texaslatina's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Sorry to all who are having a hard time. It gets better, really, and when it does you will be glad for the life saving change you made. But for now I'm just sending comforting hugs. -

Normal normal normal! I'm a bander but this is a post op issue. Your body is reacting to surgical stress and dietary shock. Trust the process and stay on course and trust me it WILL come off again at a good pace. The time window you're in is known for this "adjusting period" and weight loss stops for a short time. Congratulations and good luck! -
Starting 5:2 and no scale this week
JustWatchMe replied to JustWatchMe's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Okay so today is Wonderful Wednesday. I can eat what I want. I started my day with a reduced fat cheese stick and I found myself craving almonds today so I just had some. Not quite lunchtime yet but I went to track them as a snack. Well lo and behold, I got a wakeup call. I thought I was "measuring" an ounce (a fistful, right?) of almonds. But then I decided to count them out. Holy c**p. 48 raw almonds. I looked that up in MyFitnessPal and 24 (!) raw almonds is 240 calories. Half of what I was going to eat as a snack! I grumbled and counted out 24 almonds. Ate them, slowly. Felt good. 24 was enough. I know this is not a "diet", so I will eat sensibly the rest of the day based on what I want. Fasting tomorrow. But WHAT an eye opener with the portion! I know @@Bandista once mentioned carrying almonds in small jars pre-portioned. I need that trick because my eyeballs really want to underestimate my portions. I'm allowing myself to eat what I want on non fasting days BUT track scrupulously. To track honestly I have to be honest about portions. There. I said it. Whew! -
Not sure now far post op you are but I was banded 6 months ago next week. I have had four fills and my last two were 0.25 each as I creep toward green. Some days I feel like I have little restriction. Some days lots. Mornings are tighter than evenings. If my food choices are lousy for a few days (carbs, sliders, fried foods) my restriction doesn't work as well afterwards. If my food is clean (solid Protein, no snacking, low carbs) for a day then my restriction seems to magically come back. I do not understand this at all but I am learning to listen to and obey my band better. I've only lost half the weight I want to lose, and I'll be darned if I'm going to wuss out now. My advice is to sit with this level for a month while keeping your food clean. See if that makes a difference. I fear going too tight and creating stuck and PB problems. I want this band to work for the long haul without erosion or other troubles I might have prevented with good habits. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Gonna try the prune juice. Worried about reliance on stool softeners over a long period of time. -
I haven't weighed myself since reading this post and I feel so much better. I've also been in better control of my food. How crazy am I? I would weigh myself right after waking up and going to the bathroom. Before I even took my blood pressure medicine (water in the cup adds to the weight right?) or did anything at all, I hopped on to see if I should feel good or feel bad today. This week I decided to wait a week. Ditching the scale altogether was too scary. So I promised myself no weighing until Sunday. The difference is that I get up and start my day and feel good. My food has been straight and knowing that, it doesn't matter what the number is. Because in the long run I will lose the pounds. If I don't lose the pounds then the food isn't straight. So simple but such a difference in outlook.

I hit send too fast. Wanted to say as long as you have satiety and the loss rate is good and not dangerous then the low calories are what your body must need/want for optimal health. Thanks for your info.
-
Oh! That's lower than I would have guessed. Ok well, good to know!

Somehow missed this post until today. Welcome and congratulations!

Congratulations on your success! I was wondering if you had an idea how many calories you're eating a day, approximately of course. Just wondering how it all shakes out down the road. I'm halfway to my goal.

Wow you have had an impressive loss!! Please cut yourself a little slack. Look at what you wrote. Look where you were ten months ago. This is not a race. You've changed your whole life. You're amazing ! A little slump is just that. If you're not going to the gym right now try to do other things like walk around the neighborhood on your work break. Shake up your food plan a bit. I'm doing that right now because I developed an affinity for fried chicken strips and it was doing me no favors. We're gonna do this! We're in it for the long haul. Stay connected here and keep moving forward!!

EGD today - feeling discouraged and don't know what to do
JustWatchMe replied to docbree's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
@@docbree don't give up. I don't remember why you ruled out LapBand but unfortunately no NSAIDs with those either. LapBand with plication has been successful for some folks here. Your polyps will be benign: good thoughts. Keep pushing for a solution. You are a tough lady!
