Starting 5:2 and no scale this week
JustWatchMe replied to JustWatchMe's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I just want to post that I am so glad to have ditched the habit of weighing every morning. I feel so much better and more confident. This week was very good with the food. I only had fried food once and it's getting easier to avoid it. I find it hard to believe that I'm enjoying celery sticks. Celery sticks with cream cheese, with hummus, wrapped with roast beef slices. Yum. It satisfies that crunch need that I have. Most of all, I am actively and intensely working on the issues that contribute to my reaching for food for comfort. This is a critical part of my success over the last two weeks with food. I focus every day on this. As for the 5:2, I feel healthier and don't seem to get as hungry after fasting days as I did the first week. I think my band has adjusted to lower volume. I can get stuck on solid meat easily if I'm not slow and careful. But I'm still able to eat big salads so I have to consciously slow down. Looking forward to weighing in tomorrow but only because I feel so skinny and I'm eager to adjust my ticker! Lol. I went to the dmv this week for a new driver's license due to moving and registering to vote. I told them my real weight for the first time EVER. I didn't even care that I probably weighed less than the number I told them because I hadn't weighed in days. That's truly amazing. -
How to prepare for a fill!
JustWatchMe replied to dayana4100's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow. Scary stuff. Please keep us posted. My only slightly irritating event was the nurse having slight trouble injecting the port, but only once in four fills. Even that time was s successful. I am always filled under X-ray. I even end the fill by swallowing two Tylenol arthritis caplets under X-ray. I never want to be so tight that I have to crush my Tylenol. Please keep us posted on what develops. Also I get the local anesthetic to numb the port site. Why opt for pain when I can skip it? That's only a small pinch. -
My 6 year, 4 surgery story
JustWatchMe replied to LookingForMe's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thank you for your honesty and kudos to you for never giving up on yourself and your health. I learned a lot reading this and I hope I will always listen to my body and seek help as soon as something doesn't feel right. -
Ah, for me a sexy bra is one that condenses all my sagging deflated skin from the front and sides and armpits into front facing, perky boob-like illusions. Yay for weight loss in your fifties! (Still preferable to my old life by far.)

How to prepare for a fill!
JustWatchMe replied to dayana4100's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Dayana4100, this is not normal. Mine have been very easy. What happened that put you in the ER? I don't do any prep except to make sure I DO eat a few hours before since I have to go on liquids afterwards for 48 hours. Please explain how you reacted. -
I do much better when I don't snack between meals. Three meals a day is best for me. When I snack it wakes up my appetite. I aim for satiety, not fullness, during a meal, and relief from hunger for four to five hours between meals. My band seems to be at the right fill level now. If I eat meat too fast, I get stuck. But I can still knock a big garbage salad out very quickly if I don't slow down. So for me it's the type of food combined with how I eat it. At this fill level, I am really understanding how longtime Bandsters can cheat the band and run into problems. It makes me nervous and makes me want to be careful.

@@esskay77, my first job at fifteen was in a movie theater. You. Don't. Want. To. Know.

@@gowalking, tell it! My band helps me a LOT. It really does and I love it. But head hunger or even real hunger combined with that "ants in my pants" feeling can cause me to overeat anyway. I'm still learning about what my band does and doesn't tolerate. I've learned the hard way that it happily tolerates a giant tub of crappy greasy movie popcorn. Over a month of bouncing up and down and up the scale finally taught me that I'd better help my band help me. I don't want to be so tightly filled that I cannot take a Tylenol or enjoy a meal. But with that privilege comes responsibility. I have to eat well EVEN WHEN I DON'T FEEL LIKE IT. Emphasis added for my own thick skull.

Funny, I thought I had posted on this thread earlier saying I enjoyed popcorn at the movies. I came back to say that I have since given it up because it had become the reason I was going to the movies. A giant tub of popcorn. Wow. Yes I said it. Glad that's out of my system. I went to two movies recently and had nothing at the first one and a bottle of water at the second one. Movies are about movies again.

Exploring Re-banding (kinda long)
JustWatchMe replied to bwaydiva's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Congratulations on a successful two weeks. Every day is a victory! I am a newbie and I benefit greatly from stories such as yours. I hope you persist with the doctors until you find the right solution. You deserve happiness and the solution is out there. You just need to find it! Good luck! -
Would you have WLS again? What kind?
JustWatchMe replied to Julie norton's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
I'm only six months post banding but I have high hopes and am thrilled with my choice. Again in a heartbeat. Like tmf, I hope that if my band eventually causes problems, there might be new technologies or medicines available to me by then. Meanwhile I am glad I didn't waste one more day being morbidly obese. -
Starting 5:2 and no scale this week
JustWatchMe replied to JustWatchMe's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Today's a fasting day for me and I ended up with a 500 calorie lunch of nuts and a Quest bar. Not a bad choice. I've noticed my band is a lot tighter feeling this week. Either that or I can't tolerate pot roast anymore. Bummer. I like pot roast. I think it's going the route of pork chops. Or, maybe it's just this week. Stress, stress and more stress. I need to relaaaaaaaax. It hasn't been hard for me to follow 5:2. I think it's because my motivation kicked into such high gear. Mind and body were ready at the same time. Doesn't happen that way too often. I'm also getting a lot of outside support for the issues that give me head hunger. Today I went to the DMV to change my address on my driver's license and register to vote in my new town. The old man processing my license asked if anything else changed. Lol. I said yes, my weight. Make it 210. He said "GOOD FOR YOU!" And I had to laugh. In his view I had lost 40 pounds because my license said 250 even when I was 302. I didn't mention the other 50. I'll be back next spring anyway to get a skinny picture and a final license, maybe even with another new address. All in all, I'm getting nice validation from people around me in unexpected places. It helps on those days of super stress when I'm feeling down. I'm not letting my sad and worried feelings make me eat anymore. Just shake it off. -

Nope. I has a "close" day yesterday and it still didn't do the projection. -
Liquid Tylenol can be ordered from your pharmacist. I only filled it twice One month was five huge bottles. After two months I decided to try caplets. My nurse said those were safer than tablets. I've had zero problems and I am four fills in. Matter of fact during my fills using the fluoroscope, I swallow two Tylenol arthritis caplets to make sure I'm not too tight. If you order the liquid do it ahead of time. My pharmacy didn't have it in stock. .

I can drink quite a bit at once. I'm six months out with four fills.

Extreme shooting pain at port site
JustWatchMe replied to Bruce120's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine bulges but not that much. Yes I hope they can fix it for you because we deserve to feel GREAT about our weight loss and no longer feel anything but pride in ourselves. That said, it's not "gross" at all. Thanks for sharing it. -
I took an Aqua Zumba class last spring and loved it. All my uncoordinated parts remained underwater. Lol. Nobody could see I was just bouncing around.
