    Starting 5:2 and no scale this week

    Feel tight this morning but starting with solid protein. I put six blouses In the give away pile this morning. The are just too baggy to wear to work anymore. Feels scary to let them go. I didn't have that confidence before that I wouldn't need them again.

    Quest Bars?

    If you go online you can order individual packets of U njury protein shakes. I took these to Italy with me. So glad I did. A half bottle of water and one packet and it saved me for breakfast a few times.
  3. @@Ldimples it's not forever. You'll eventually add foods back and I eat mostly anything now, just smaller amounts. I understand the advance grieving though. I felt that way last Thanksgiving.

    Food Cost savings after banding

    No idea how to figure it out now but I save a lot. I rarely find myself in the grocery store and used to go nearly daily. The fast food alone is a huge savings. One restaurant meal is often two meals now since I take half home.

    My tolerance for bull$#!+ went down in direct proportion to the number of calories I consumed post op. I ate for a reason. So I wouldn't have to feel the feels. Some of those feels aren't pretty. Like others have said, hang in there. It gets better. Find another way besides food to self-care and do it. Often.

    Quest Bars?

    Not too sweet but very flavorful. I tried cashew coconut and peanut butter. The cashew coconut had a very sticky consistency but it tasted great.
  7. @@Jim1967, you're saying something I think about a lot. I got to a green zone recently but as I lose weight that might not stay green. I won't rule out future adjustments. My next fill or checkup is in December. We'll see.

    @@Bandista, your attitude is wonderful. I'm still in diet mentality but I do see the benefit of letting that go. It's so rewarding to take the long view and see the progress over many months or a year instead of just this week or moment. Congratulations on your success. You inspire me!

    Wow, I was really watching the clock today waiting for lunch. I try to have my fasting day meal no earlier than 1pm because it has to last me until the next morning. Today I was ravenous and ate at 12:30. Lean deli meat, raw green beans and some hummus. I'm good for now. Hope it holds me until tomorrow. Well, it will. I guess I mean I hope it holds me comfortably. I just realized that due to poor planning, I didn't attend a single support group meeting last week. My daughter was in town, and a few other days I just stayed home and didn't go. Tonight I'm headed back to my meeting. Gotta get my head back in the game.

    Call your NUT. That's what you're paying them for. Tomato is not clear. But I was on clear for pre-op and on full liquids for six weeks post op. I was never so happy to have cream soup in my life.

    No weight lost. Is this normal?

    Stay the course. If you follow your plan your weight will start falling again. It's very normal to have a standstill or even a small gain in the weeks right after surgery. But it's more important than ever to follow instructions now. Don't worry. It's going to come off!

  18. I drink several mugs of regular coffee with cream every morning. I usually switch to decaf in the afternoon and drink that until about 3pm. Caffeine after 2pm will keep me from falling asleep at night. I learned that a few years ago. Reading recently about the acid effects of coffee on one's stomach and getting a little worried. I gave up Prevacid shortly after banding so I have no protection against the acid, whether it's regular or decaf. I love my coffee. I hope I'm not doing harm. I don't feel anything odd. No reflux or pain.

    Starting 5:2 and no scale this week

    God give me patience and give it to me NOW. Up 0.8. This, after a week of decent food choices, no alcohol, no food at the movies, some (not enough) walking, and clean fasting days. My clothes are falling off and I had to replace several items this week. Well, I will just keep on plugging along. I'll have a good day of outdoor exercise with some friends today and we have great weather for it. I will just keep the food clean and keep tracking faithfully. Oh, just noticed this. I just reread my MyFitnessPal diary for the last seven days. My week of so-called decent food choices averaged out to 1,770 calories for a non-fasting day. I'm supposed to be aiming for 1,000. Maybe a little less hummus this week as a meal, and a little more solid Protein. And in my food diary I just noticed also that five different days this week I either went to a restaurant or ate restaurant takeout food. My old nemesis fried food is back. Thai food twice, once being last night. Hmm. My daughter was in town for a couple of those days, but that "special" eating sure explains a lot. Ok. Well, clean up the food choices, eat more solid protein and less hummus, cook more, eat out less, and get more walking in. I gotta WORK for my pass through the Onederland gates, huh? Mission accepted.
  20. Um no. Not the diarrhea. Loose stools come with a liquid diet but not horrible diarrhea. That with the nausea and lightheadedness could be a stomach bug. Call your doctor and see what they say.
  21. I did that accidentally. I thought a pair of dress pants were still too tight but by the time I tried them on they looked like clown pants. I was pretty mad at myself about that. So now I check my "future" clothes every week.
  22. I saw a friend last night I haven't seen in three weeks. I was wearing a "new" pair of jeans I got from Goodwill last week. It was my first time wearing them. She tugged on the loose back thigh and said, "Time to invest in some smaller jeans, kiddo!" I said these ARE my smaller jeans !! Which is why I only invested five bucks in them. Lol. Good problem to have. I bought another smaller pair for another five bucks today. Also got 11 more blouses and spent a grand total of 52 bucks. I'm good for another couple of months, I think.

    Shoulder slowly improving. Weird. I went to the movies yesterday with friends and reeeeaaaallllyy wanted the free popcorn I had a coupon for. Well I didn't really want that small free popcorn. I wanted the giant tub of it. And I didn't really want the lousy crapcorn that movies have nowadays. I wanted the old real oil popped corn from my youth. And I didn't want the butter flavored chemical concoction they offer now. I wanted real butter. And even though I was truly slightly hungry, nothing healthy would satisfy my "wants". So I just watched the movie. When I got home later I was truly hungry, so I had 10 almonds and went to bed. I read somewhere to do an apple test to figure out if you are actually hungry or head hungry. Think, "Would one crisp apple satisfy me completely right now?" If yes, have one crisp apple. If no, it's not stomach hunger so figure something else out instead of eating. I'm on track and deliberately didn't go out with my friends for drinks after the movie. First of all I had taken a pain pill for my shoulder so alcohol is a no-no. Secondly, my Saturday night outings have no doubt slowed my weight loss. Wine has calories, and I'm not losing as fast by having it every weekend. So last night I passed. Tomorrow is my weigh-in followed by a rigorous outdoor day of walking (about three hours) with two other friends. So close to Onederland. Maybe tomorrow!?

    Yep! Just my luck!

    Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. Last year well in advance of my surgery date I grieved my "last fun" Thanksgiving. I always cook and host. This year will be different. I'll still cook and host but I'm going through a divorce. My daughter suggested we fill our home with "chosen" family. I'm doing that. I'm cooking turkey (this time I won't binge on the turkey skin) and all the regular fixin's. I always make a festive salad and several veggies so we're covered. It's not the same as your pre op regimen but maybe you can take this holiday off and celebrate it a few months later in a low key way. Just take good care of yourself whatever you do. This is for you and saving your life. Lots of folks here are pre or post surgery this Thanksgiving. Find them and support each other. You got this!!
