Not understanding these LAP-Band fills......
JustWatchMe replied to MamaRita's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My fills take a week or more to settle in too. I've had five fills and the latest one was only 0.1 cc. It feels different after a week. It's also not the level I'll be at for life. As my body changes, my stomach size changes, and an adjustment may be needed months or years down the road. -

Amazing! Inspiring! What a great story!!!! -
Had a second, different class today. I can see why people get hooked on yoga. I bought myself a nice thick mat. My knees are grateful.

I did Aqua Zumba last year because nobody can see my uncoordination under the water line!

One of my friends tried to rope me into that a few years ago. I have no rhythm and a giant belly. Ain't happening!!

Name something strange and super unhealthy that you used to eat before weight loss
JustWatchMe replied to My Bariatric Life's topic in Food and Nutrition
As a kid I ate several white bread and Miracle Whip sandwiches. I could eat a dozen scrambled eggs. I remember asking the babysitter to make eggs for my brother and me and she made a dozen and we (mostly I) wiped them out. I often finished his food when he didn't want it. As an adult I would sit in front of the tv with a giant bowl of Cereal and milk or half and half. Half a box gone in a sitting. Usually Corn Chex. I would dip bread in the grease from fried pork chops. But the all time winner is that every year of my adult life until WLS, I would roast the Thanksgiving turkey for my family and when nobody was looking, I ate every inch of crispy skin off of a 20-pound bird by myself. I see a pattern here. This. This is food addiction. -
Convenience foods made me fat. These food are keeping me thin.
JustWatchMe replied to LipstickLady's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Great thread. I keep Buddig 90 calorie beef pouches, Trader Joe's lite cheddar jack cheese sticks, hummus, celery, and apples in the fridge for grab and go. If I'm feeling lazy, I'll buy a bag of the pre-cooked and shelled hard boiled eggs. I often don't prepare hard boiled eggs because of the time it takes to cook and shell them, but for a couple of bucks I skip the work and have ready made protein. I also keep cans of white meat chunk chicken in the cupboard. At work I keep raw almonds, raw pecans, Quest Coconut Cashew bars, single serving U njury packets for a protein shake, beef jerky, and water enhancer drops in my desk. -

Congratulations. Do you know why they advise you not to lose the final five that you want to lose? Did they give any reason? -
One year, second time with a cold. This shouldn't be happening!

Does Mucinex or Robitussin help prevent a clog at all? -
I found Tips of the scale which has episodes every week or so. It's wonderful. It's a lengthy interview with someone who has had a success story with weight loss. Some gems today: ... I found myself going to the movies just to eat the popcorn. I showed up once and didn't even know what movies were playing. The popcorn was just my delivery system for butter. Lobster, too. Just a delivery system for butter... I can really identify with this!!!

I have an iPod nano and I listen to political show podcasts on it. I'd like to add some motivational or weight loss podcasts to listen to, but I don't know any. Any thoughts?

I'm so happy you're having fun and meeting some nice guys!!

Starting 5:2 and no scale this week
JustWatchMe replied to JustWatchMe's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well breakfast was a package of Buddig beef (90 calories) and lunch was a protein shake (100) and pecans (210) so I'll have one more protein shake when I get home and that's it for today. I'm hungry but not crazy hungry. We'll see how this goes. -
I hope all goes well!

I love how we're all just skipping over the comment about the fella knowing your feet are cold. You go, girl!!! On a serious note (yeah, right!) I am wearing sweaters for the first time in decades. Never needed them before, plus, they accentuated my fat rolls. Now I need them. I also bought a cute little mini-infinity scarf while shopping with my daughter last week and I wear it at my desk at work. It's probably meant for outerwear, but that little extra warmth helps. Next is getting a pair of mittens because my gloves don't keep my fingers warm enough.

Starting 5:2 and no scale this week
JustWatchMe replied to JustWatchMe's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks ladies. You're right. I know what to do. I'm not letting this derail me. My fasting day is tomorrow. I know some people do the 5:2 fasting days by spreading their 500 calories over the whole day. I haven't tried that yet. I was having it at lunch. I think tomorrow I'm going to spread it out. It will probably mean two meals of protein shakes, but that's okay. I'll see how that works this week on Monday and Thursday. And the key is to not get all loosey goosey the rest of the week. -
What shocks you now that you were able to eat in a sitting?
JustWatchMe replied to JALUVIC's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Sadly, I'm not shocked at all. I am actually surprised I don't eat these volumes of food anymore. I've been overeating since childhood. This new way of life is what's surprising to me. -

Starting 5:2 and no scale this week
JustWatchMe replied to JustWatchMe's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Five pounds up. Since Tuesday. Ugh. Too much rich food and drink. Two days of liquids post fill and one day of fasting clearly didn't compensate for the eating and drinking the other days. This is depressing. I bounced up out of Onederland. I didn't want to post this but I have to stay honest with myself. And with my fellow travelers. Just bummed. Damn, it's getting harder to lose!!! -

Why Does Everyone Want To Be A "Food Addict?"
JustWatchMe replied to Warren L. Huberman PhD.'s topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
I am a binge eating addict. food addict for short. I am in remission because I have changed my behaviors and because my band helps with the physical hunger. I am recovering in OA just like a gambler recovers in GA. I don't "want" to label myself a food addict, but there you go. I'd lost 130 pounds many years ago but couldn't keep it off. The reasons behind me reaching for food were never addressed. And the one year definition of success? I call BS on that. I'll battle this addiction my whole life. It gets easier the longer I practice new habits and don't indulge in binging or sport eating, as another BP poster calls it. But that draw will ALWAYS be there for me. And once I indulge it, I slide down the slippery slope, and it becomes almost impossible to halt. That's addiction, sir. I found this article insulting and aggravating because it does contain helpful behavioral techniques. So I'll take what l liked and leave the rest. With all due respect, I find this to be an oddly contentious article to have been posted here on BariatricPal.
