We do love you CG! I didn't know you never had a fill before. Good luck. I've been in a weight loss slump but I think it's turning around this week. Finally got back down into Onederland today.

    Overeating at Christmas

I'm a bander nine months out and I had a 3-5 pound gain over Christmas. I haven't lost weight in two months. I felt like you do but talked it out with a few people, and the last three days have been good and the weight has come back off. Don't despair. We are human. The beauty of the band is that it makes it easier to get back on track. Focus on solid protein and no starchy foods and no drinking calories. You'll find that if you just focus on one day at a time you can get back to good habits. Good luck!
  5. I was told it was to shrink my liver for surgery, and if the doc cut and found a fat liver, he could close up and not do the surgery. That was enough to keep me compliant. No way was I going to not have the surgery after all the waiting and prerequisites just because I couldn't stick the pre-op diet out. Having said that, mine was only five days of clear liquids. Post op, however, was six weeks of full liquids. That was hard. But it helped me drop fifty pounds in those six weeks so it was worth it. You'll be fine. It's hard but your upcoming surgery will give you the strength. Good luck!!

    2015 New Year Resolutions

My goals for 2015: Be kind to myself every day. Dare to dream about my new life post-divorce. Don't survive -- thrive. Eat well. sleep well. Find a healthy distraction for when anxiety sets in. It was recommended to me to take up reading enjoyable books again, rather than only self-help type books. Move more. Socialize more. Be open to new friendships. I did that this year and have two new friends as a result. Lose my remaining excess weight. Get off my final prescription, a blood pressure medicine. Begin the process of qualifying for a panniculectomy after goal weight is achieved. Take a vacation with my daughters. Remember every day that this, too, shall pass, and life is good.

    Can't stop losing

First of all congratulations on your success. It is an incredible achievement and deserves applause!! I'm only 2/3 of my way to goal, but as someone who once lost weight pre surgery and couldn't keep it off for more than a month, I am in this now for the lifetime maintenance. I'm no expert but people further down this path than I am have strongly suggested therapy for adjusting to the new physical beings we are becoming. I see a therapist about once a month for divorce issues and I can surely see how a therapist could help me with body issues down the road. Be patient with yourself, and give yourself time for your head to catch up with your outward self. Your success is an inspiration to me. I hope you are able to enjoy it!!

  16. You are a WLS success and don't ever forget that. Even if he doesn't acknowledge it. Mine did not either. It's not why I left him this year (he is emotionally and mentally and verbally and financially abusive to me and my daughters) but it is why I got WLS. I needed the strength to make changes and once I got my food under control it happened. It isn't easy and my divorce has just begun, but I know I am capable of taking care of myself. I got my confidence back. I wish you the same.

    First day after surgery

Congratulations !! Stay off the scale. Wait until your post op appointment to weigh. The reason is that most of us gain right after surgery from fluids and swelling. Also, walk a lot. It will help everything. Stay connected here and if anything feels worse rather than better day by day, call your doc right away.

Low calorie peppermint mocha I used to waste hundreds of calories on Starbucks peppermint mocha, not to mention the expense. I've been making this at home now: Decaf coffee Splash of half and half 1-2 drops of peppermint extract 1-2 drops of vanilla extract Pinch of baking cocoa (1/16th tsp? Tiny amount) Yum!

I have a better outlook today. Stop living in the future and enjoy the present. Today I have enough love, enough time with my daughters, enough money, enough therapy, enough food, enough shelter, enough cuddly doggies, enough everything. I will enjoy and be grateful for what I have. Worry is my enemy. Life is good. I just have to open my eyes.

Congratulations! I wonder, did insurance pay any of it? I hope to get one in a year or so.
