Well I didn't weigh for years while my weight climbed. Then I had surgery and weighed daily. It was very motivating when I was losing 4 or 5 pounds a week. But when my weight loss slowed and stopped I was dreading the scale each morning. It was making me very anxious. I decided to go to weekly. Once I did, I became motivated again and started to slowly lose again. I don't know why it affects my mood so much but it does. So for now once a week is plenty. I've even thought about just weighing at the doctor but for now I seem to have struck a happy balance.

How cool is that? I went a few times as a teen but barely handled the bunny hill. Just getting off the chair lift sent me flying! It was enormous fun though. Maybe someday.... -
BariatricPal Launching Online Store to sell Discounted Bariatric Nutritional Products ? (Vitamins, Protein etc.)

Unjury and Quest. I'd like to try other things too that people rave about. Like that peanut butter substitute. So sample sizes would be great. -
I agree. I had stuck and sliming episodes but it was always from eating too fast and not chewing to paste. Now it's rare but I am still at the same fill level. I really have to work on slow eating and chewing.

Im starving and drinking fat free chicken stock at my desk at work. Lol. I have a renewed appreciation for the pre op people. Walking my stairs. To delete a post I edit it and replace all the text with any character. You can't delete but you can edit.

It might be time to give the scale to Goodwill. You lived without it successfully before and today it makes you anxious and sad. To the curb!!

Mine always bulged and it's more pronounced now that I've lost weight. -
I'm on clear liquids for a minor surgery tomorrow and I'm. Frickin. Starving.

Wow. I never thought to ask what anesthesia I'm given. I'm having a minor procedure Friday and I'll be asleep. Hopefully. -

This is not my hospital. I found it by googling bariatric support groups. I go but I don't speak because it's not my surgical center. I'm also LapBand but I mostly go to the rny/sleeve group because I can't get to the earlier one fast enough after work. But I enjoy hearing the folks discuss the various issues WLS patients face. The facilitator is good too. http://www.lcmh.org/mobile/forms/index.cfm?pageID=575&formID=4E07489F-F789-5FD6-FA5D6F323A325FA8 -

I like little Little Company of Mary's groups. They have LapBand at 6pm and RnY/Sleeve at 7pm on the first Tuesday of the month. 2800 95th street in Evergreen Park. It's not my hospital, but there are many long term WLS patients at the RnY/Sleeve meeting. It's worth my hour drive to get there. -
how long did you wait?
JustWatchMe replied to brr's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Six months from first orientation meeting to surgery. -
Ended the day with 1380 calories and 12 flights of stairs. Pretty good. Having minor surgery Friday and so tomorrow I'm on Clear liquids all day. I don't know how I managed to be unprepared for that. I knew it was liquids and planned to have my unjury shakes all day. But I just read the pre op sheet and there's that darned word "clear". Ugh. Specifically says no cream in coffee either. Oh well. Maybe I'll lose a pound or two. I've got some bouillon in the cupboard and I can run to CVS at lunchtime and pick up some Ensure Clear. I'll aim for twelve flights of stairs again tomorrow. Not worried about the calories. I probably won't hit 500.

Surgery tomorrow 1/15/15
JustWatchMe replied to rodflanders's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Good luck and post when you're up to it!! -
Congratulations !! It should feel a little better, not worse, each day. If not, call your doctor. Don't wait. Stay off the scale. Post op weight goes up a little, even a couple of weeks out. Weigh at your doctor's office until your first fill. Be gentle with yourself. You've traumatized your body and have put it through some extreme stuff, and it's not over yet. Emotions will be all over the map. Give yourself permission to feel them. Walk walk walk. Karate chops to the neck and shoulders from a pal help get the gas pain out. Finally, dream and dream big !! My life is completely different than it was the day I had surgery ten months ago. I can walk, I can breathe, I can sleep, and can eat normal portions and be satisfied. It's a frickin miracle.

JustWatchMe replied to gowalking's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Liz, you're amazing. Your posts help me every day. I know I can do this because I'm watching you do this. Your honesty about what's going on and how you're feeling let me know I'm not doomed to failure and I'm not doomed to repeat the patterns I've been in for years. You're brave. You are facing the underlying reasons for overeating, and examining the consequences of changing your body. You offer a hand up to us newbies and the oldies too. You're one of the strongest voices of BariatricPal for me and I love reading what you write. Congratulations to you. <3 -
