You. Don't. Suck.

Holy crapoli was yesterday "off"!!! Oh well. Total calories (had some cocktails) 2489. And somehow instead of doing extra stairs I ended up only doing 12 flights. I missed a round somehow. Back on track today with dinner leftovers and making firm time slots for the stairs.

Advice needed. Did you do the emotional work after weight loss surgery?
JustWatchMe replied to My Bariatric Life's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
This is a thread I want to follow. I'm new to WLS and going through a painful and acrimonious divorce. I struggle with fear every day. So far my tools in the toolbox have been: Codependents Anonymous Overeaters Anonymous A divorce therapist once a month BariatricPal website I also have made a determined effort to say "yes" to new experiences and social outings with new friends. This is hard for me but so rewarding. I feel emotionally overwhelmed at least a few times a day, and that's not an exaggeration. But I turn it over to God each morning and when the feeling comes over me I remember that I turned it over. It helps. I literally have a "God box" where I write a small note each day of the thing(s) that have me fearful, and that I'm giving them to God. Example for today: my daughter who's traveling from Madrid to Portugal. And divorce paperwork that's overwhelming me right now. And I'm attending the wake of a dear friend's mom. The beauty of going out with new friends is they will give you a fresh perspective. One tells me that as bad as things are now, one day this divorce really will be behind me and life will be good. Meanwhile I'm making huge progress improving my health and self image. Truly, the divorce is so front and center that my WLS and weight loss feels minor now. But it's not!! It's huge. My body is changing. For the better. My attitude is improving and I value myself more. My reply was a bit off topic but it's exactly where I am. I am eager to read other people's paths. Thanks for posting such thoughtful threads. -

Good luck! -
That was before any fills. Now if I eat soup it's usually a cup. But I sometimes have that in addition to other food at the same meal. I just make sure to have the liquids first.

I was on full liquids for six weeks post op. I had soups daily. I ate between one and one and a half cups, but occasionally two cups.

Tomorrow is the big day!

Congrats ! I held a pillow against my stomach and laid on my side and kind of rolled off the bed until it felt better. -
@@enjoythetime, I'm amazed that I'm enjoying my stairs at work. Three breaks a day doing eight floors at a time. My knees couldn't handle it a year ago but now they can, and I rest in the bathroom between the 7th and 8th floor and return to my desk without being out of breath.

Guess what? You just got a new job!
JustWatchMe replied to Jean McMillan's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
Do you suppose the satiety feeling we get when we've had "just enough" is the same feeling that normies have always felt while eating? I'm so grateful to have the band relieve the "never satisfied" feeling I lived with all my life. Now I feel satisfied on the right amount of food. My lifetime job is to listen for that feeling and act on it. Loved this post. -
No butts about it

You can't make this stuff up. So today I'm feeling a little better, not so horribly sore, and back in regular underwear. First thing in the morning, I take the dog out, and completely wipe out on the icy driveway. My wrist, shoulder, elbow, and -- you guessed it -- tailbone got it bad. Can't take NSAIDS so hoping this doesn't get too painful. My poor tushie just can't get a break! -
I have no fat on my rear anymore and I find it painful to sit for hours on any kind of chair or couch, even a soft recliner. The good part about that is I get up and walk the stairs at work at least three times during the day. The bad part is that even going to the movies hurts after an hour. I did not expect that. The other fanny-tastic event of the last couple weeks was a long overdue multiple hemorrhoidectomy. Like eight or nine years overdue. Oh. My. God. I have never had such post op pain in my frickin life. I delivered two babies and just had WLS, and all three of those events were a damn piece of cake compared to this recovery. The good part is I had a nice, funny surgeon who put me at ease and helped me laugh through the humiliation of that hiney exam. I'm proud of myself for taking care of business, so to speak. It's also given me a whole new determination to never let regularity issues get out of control, because I never want to go through that post op again!! Years of obesity and pain medications that contributed to irregularity were the culprit. So, this post ain't delicate or dainty or ladylike, but consider the source. It somehow helps to commiserate. Amirite?

Correction to Tuesday. I had a glass of wine after posting. Wednesday 1540 calories and 24 flights of stairs. Today I'm going out for dinner and drinks, so I'm anticipating 2000 calories at day's end, but if I find a good seafood choice it may be lower. I'll try for 32 flights of stairs today if I can.

WLS isn't the easy way out but for me it is easier than starving every day. The relief from stomach hunger all the time as on previous diets is a miracle. Head hunger is different and hard work to change. I was insulted when my NSETBEx called my WLS the easy way out the night before my surgery. Spoken by another obese person who lost weight once and couldn't keep it off either. WLS easy? At times, yes. At times, no. Effective? Oh yeah. -

I've never looked good on a webcam. My daughter Skypes me from college and I'm always startled seeing my mug on the screen. Even on my phone. Lol -

Lisa, I guess it depends on the severity and location of the little buggers. Internal ones aren't supposed to hurt when ligated. But external stitches, especially not tiny ones, are in the danger zone for every bathroom break, and there's no getting around it! Ow ow ow! Add mineral oil and laxatives to that to keep everything comfy, and then you're in danger of explosive urgency at any time! Good thing we WLS patients already know to "never trust a fart"! I am 12 days post op and today is the first day I went from adult diapers to a feminine pad. Yes, bleeding daily. It's improving, but slowly. I take three hot baths a day just for pain relief. That said, I'm glad I took care of it. My doc says it will be "nice and pretty" once all healed. Love his humor. However, I had the operation on a Friday and expected to return to work Monday. Um, no. Took Monday off as well. I wish I had planned for three or more days off. It's been exhausting. -

I was 5'5" and a half most of my life but was measured at 5'5" a few years ago. I never thought to remeasure. Gotta give that a try.
