My dietitian requirement was in order to learn band friendly eating and start practicing new habits before surgery. I personally did not have a weight loss requirement pre op but some people do. -
Why do people feel they have a right to be rude now?
JustWatchMe replied to Bobby46's topic in Rants & Raves
I know! I work with some great people and they have been very complimentary about my weight loss. Only 3 people where I work know I had WLS and they have kept it private. But even the sweetest people are now asking the numbers questions. Nope. Not going there folks. I decided long ago I was not going to give ANYONE outside of my circle of trust the numbers ever. So my reply to these questions is as follows: How much have you lost? A lot. Wow I know. Like how much? A real lot. How much more do you want to lose? I don't know really. It's slowing down and getting harder so I need to bump up my exercise. Well you look great. How much more do you want to lose? A couple more sizes if I can. A couple more sizes? Really? Yeah, if it works out that way. If I exercise more it will eventually happen. I'm not in a race. This was a conversation in the office bathroom this week. I smiled and walked away as I answered. People will treat me as I allow them to treat me. That includes how they speak to me. I take charge of the conversation and divert it as I can. If I can't then my fall back answer is: Come on now. You KNOW I'm never going to tell you that number, don't you? -
LapBand experience / Band-friendly foods?
JustWatchMe replied to meggs353's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You sound like you're getting it figured out. That's great. My tastes have changed over the last eleven months but here's what I like now: chicken thighs Kale and generally any salad Croutons cheese eggs Egg salad Chicken salad Canned chicken Ground meat of any kind Steak, broiled and tender Seafood like scallops or shrimp or lobster Most white fish like cod Greek yogurt with granola Roasted vegetables Hummus I can't tolerate: Dry stringy beef Dry white meat chicken Pork chops (exception is breaded pork tenderloin chewed well) I can eat but try to limit these for weight loss: Popcorn Pasta Bread Potatoes Sweets As I said, it has changed. I really desire healthier foods now. Good luck to you !!! -
Bandista, too tight is always my worry. That's why I've been pretty conservative with my fills. I'm afraid the unfilling might not work as well as the filling. But while you wait and carefully eat, how about just focusing on liquids this week? I know it's hard, but you won't do damage on liquids, and it will buy you time until your appointment. Eat rich and creamy soups so you don't feel deprived. Good luck. Let us know what happens.

Like Bandista, I watch for "enough" instead of "full". My soft stops are a hiccup, a burp, the thought that the bite I just had wasn't really necessary. I slow things down sometimes by getting up mid meal and going to the bathroom. That five minutes lets my body recognize it has eaten some food already, and many times when I come back to my plate I'm able to recognize that I'm already done.

Who is a “Success Story”? I’ll tell you…

Great article! -
I've been leaving food on my plate or boxing it up to go almost every time I've eaten in a restaurant for the last few weeks. Although it's not radical or brand new behavior, doing it effortlessly and without mulling it over certainly is. Stopping at "enough". What a concept. A year ago I couldn't imagine that I'd be able to stop at "enough" without anxiety. This is amazing.

Got my stairs in Friday and stayed at 1473 calories even with a girls' night out. Lost the two pounds I gained last week. Woo hoo!

I've had a good week with the food and some stair climbing at work. I'm emotionally stressed with divorce discovery work that is due soon and I work on it a little each day. I bumped up my counseling appointment earlier to next week to help me get some coping mechanisms. I'm working on the paperwork today on my lunch hour. Emotional questions to answer. Ugh. Anyway tonight I am dining out with two supportive friends whom I haven't seen since September. Recharging the old batteries. One day at a time.

Yay Julie!

I switched from decaf coffee to herbal tea last week and I'm not missing it as much as I expected.

Stalled but not discouraged!
JustWatchMe replied to TheProfessor's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yep. This is the hard part. Sticking to your food plan while hunger is returning and the green zone isn't achieved yet. YET. Get your fill and keep on your plan. You'll lose weight and if you go for monthly fills you'll get to the green. Good luck ! Green is definitely worth the effort and patience of getting there. -
1235 Sunday 949 Monday 1638 Tuesday 928 Wednesday My calories have been on target this week. Tonight will be a bit higher. Except for Saturday and Sunday, I've been getting my stairs in too. Something went right this week so far. Hope I didn't just jinx it. Going out for dinner and drinks Friday with friends. I'll need a good plan.

Tips to Keep Losing Weight During Bad Weather and Winter Storms
JustWatchMe replied to Dr. Sowemimo's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
I've added exercising at work by taking stairs an extra 24 flights per day. Since I work on the second floor, I walk down two to the basement, up two, down two, then take a bathroom break, then back up two. I repeat this routine twice more during the day. I just have to make sure I wear sensible shoes, and that the stairs are not sloppy from snow!!! -
Still work in progress...

Congratulations!! What an accomplishment!! -
I haven't tried too many of them but I like Chobani Greek yogurt, plain. I add 1/4 cup Bear Naked granola and 1 tsp. chia seeds to half a cup of yogurt in the morning. Yum.

You're doing great ! Congrats. Those stuck episodes are rough, but mine are fewer and farther between these days. Live and learn, right? Keep up the good work!

Travel After WLS
JustWatchMe replied to hstrayorn's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Unjury sells single serving packets of protein shake powder and it was a godsend when I traveled to Italy. You can always buy a bottle of water and pour the powder into it, shake it up and have a meal. -
That's great!! So far, stairs at work are my only exercise since it's too miserably cold for me to walk outdoors, and I have no intention of joining a gym, at least right now. But I'm doing those stairs. I used to use my daughter's treadmill at my old house, but no such luck where I'm living now. Excuses, true. More stairs, I guess!
