Lisa, you're not alone and you're not the only one struggling. Take a breath. You've been through a lot with your son lately. It's devastating to watch someone you love suffer. Your posts always make me think and always point me to something in my life I need to see too. When I don't see you posting as often it means you must be off trying to handle it all on your own. For me that doesn't work. I find success when I reach out. So let's grab this thing by the horns and beat it back. I've had several weeks of losing and gaining the same five pounds. Why? I want to eat what I want and drink wine whenever I want. That got me really far didn't it? Today I had yogurt for Breakfast because I forgot that all my Protein shakes were At work. Then deli meat and cheese for lunch. Now Soup and a salad for dinner. I commit to no more food after this dinner and no wine tonight. I'm off to an OA meeting as well. I got my stairs in at work and guess what. For today that is my imperfect day and that's just fine.

@@Alex Brecher, is this within a few months of happening? I want to order more unjury but I'll wait and do it here if it's soon. -
Anything you can do to change habits before WLS helps after surgery. My nurse had me on the treadmill the day after surgery. I had changed some eating habits pre op and I wish I had started walking before WLS too.

Go to Goodwill every week or two and try on jeans. Once you get a pair of two that fit you (and ignore the size because different brands are all over the map) you'll love wearing good fitting jeans. I didn't even own a pair of jeans at my top weight of 302. My jeans from 280 pounds are in a drawer for posterity. I kept them and my winter coat. Everything else I donated. Kick them to the curb!!

Whew. Ate a lot of food this weekend including Desserts and wine. I feel tempted to fast tomorrow just to cleanse and reset. I will aim for a Protein shake for Breakfast and some cheese and Buddig beef for lunch with Soup for dinner. I could have taken advantage of the warm weather we had today to walk but I didn't. Feeling bloated and tired. Okay enough whining! Tomorrow back to the stairs at work and the eating plan above.

Trouble eating anything in the am
JustWatchMe replied to mslittle's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm definitely tighter in the morning. It was explained to me like this. You know how your feet swell during the day, but then when you lie down and sleep, the swelling goes down? Fluids, blood, are affected by gravity. When sleeping, fluids are redistributed throughout your body and tissues. What may have been in your lower extremities in the evening is now back in your upper body and organs. Your band is a ring around part of your stomach. If your tissues have more Fluid in them when you wake up, the restriction around your stomach will feel tighter until later in the day when the fluids tend to migrate downward due to gravity again. Sounds weird but makes perfect sense to me. I am definitely tighter in the earlier part of the day and the loosest in the evening. -
What’s Your Relationship with Caffeine?
JustWatchMe replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Came back to this post today with an update. I switched to decaf only about two months ago and cut way down on even the decaf since then. I drink more tea and Water now. I sleep better and am not as jittery. My reasons for giving it up had to do with anxiety. I was also tired of having coffee breath all the time which led me to chewing gum all day long. I'm feeling much calmer without caffeine and glad I made the switch. Less coffee breath, less gum chewing. -

I'm sorry you've had so much trouble. I do take your message to heart. I hope this all gets resolved for you soon and the DS works out. Keep us posted. -
Like B52 said, drinking won't work for me. Spit it up, stop eating, give the body a rest for several hours and stick to liquids until the next day at least.

Bacon, thanks for the laugh. I spent all afternoon cooking with my friend and sharing stories and wine and cheese and dip. Come dinner time I took one bite and couldn't eat another. I didn't get stuck at all, just stopped. No big drama but clearly my band is doing what it can to keep me out of trouble. Today will be much more sensible. Protein first and no wine. No regrets. But I'm really looking forward to having some of that braciole!

Starting out at age 45? How common?
JustWatchMe replied to KS123's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
WLS at 53 and it's been the healthiest year of my life. No joke. -
Lol I had no idea it was quoting somebody. My NP said it.

True but the band is still there. I haven't had a full blown cold since surgery almost a year ago. I know stress makes it feel tighter and I've heard that congestion really does a number on it too. Feel better soon!

I've had happy success so far with LapBand and I was banded at age 53. Not at goal yet but loving my life so far. Good luck and keep posting! -
Sure glad to help. I aim for 4-5 hours between meals without hunger as a barometer of good fill level. When I was getting hungry after three hours again I decided on another tiny fill. My last two fills have been 0.01 each. Ticker--I can only do it from a PC. Search in settings.
-
I was in green but then my hunger was returning a little bit more between meals. So my sixth fill was another 0.01 cc fill bringing me to 7.6 in a 14cc band. This made a huge difference. Tiny fill, huge difference. Creep to your green. Don't overshoot it. My NP says it's much easier to creep toward a proper fill level than to retrieve it by unfilling. Good luck.

Ah! Penny! Why?!?!?(My 600 lb life)
JustWatchMe replied to Kramer17's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Food addiction is a powerful thing. WLS doesn't operate between the ears. I've started watching some of these shows and I'm very humbled by the stories, the successes and the failures. I have no doubt my weight would have climbed until my early death had I not had WLS. Now I must stay vigilant and do my part. That means working on my brain. A day at a time. -
Liz does your band act tighter when you have a cold?
