My Top 10 Ways to Prevent Loose Skin
JustWatchMe replied to bobbyswife's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@Bluesea71 Omg you're gorgeous!!! Seriously this post inspired me today. I doubted if I could get to my goal weight and now I want to get there so much! You look GREAT. Thank you so much for posting. -
You know you're a bander when you read this as getting a soft stop signal instead of a cell phone signal. Lol I had to read it twice. Thanks for the chuckle.

How to Pack a Weight Loss Surgery Friendly Lunch
JustWatchMe replied to Sally Johnston's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
Good reminders. Funny how you forget things. I used to keep hard boiled eggs in the fridge but forgot all about them recently. Great lists. -
Challenge is six extra miles of walking this week and a daily note of what you're proud of or grateful for that has been a positive change since WLS.

528 stairs at work per day. I counted yesterday. My six miles are in for the week. I've been going to bed with a slightly grumbly stomach each night. I'm hoping this turns into weight loss. At my surgical support group Monday I saw the NUT and she said the increased movement will help a lot. It all makes sense. I need to let go of the results and do the work. The plastic surgeon said that a panniculectomy could be done at the weight I am now if I pursued it. But just hearing that good news made me want to get to goal first. Weird but it inspired me to work harder. Today I will have ground beef for Breakfast, nuts and cheese for lunch and salad and ground beef for dinner. I'm probably staying home tonight but I might go grocery shopping. Today I am grateful for my body that has rallied with weight loss and served me well even after years of obesity. My heart is strong. My knees are not but they work with cortisone shots every few months. I'm treating them better by taking off the weight and they treat me better by taking me on walks now. A healthy cycle for a change. I know I will be able to walk a 5k this spring. Now I just need to find one and sign up.

Congratulations !! Isn't it great? You're on your way!

Lisa be careful with NSAIDS with your band. You might want to take Prevacid while you're on them.
-
Walking will help. Also have a friend do karate chops on your neck and shoulders several times a day. Good luck!

I accidentally walked an extra 8 flights of stairs yesterday. Four sets of eight instead of three. FitBit told me that at the end of the day. This must be getting easier. Yesterday was on target and it felt very good to get out and get my two miles in at lunch. The food was on plan too. I made it to my OA meeting and squeezed in a foot massage afterwards. Today Breakfast will be eggs, lunch cheese and nuts, and dinner salad and beef. CoDA meeting in the evening. The change I am proud of today is the willingness to stop eating when I get the stop signal. I don't always do this but I do it more lately. As we know, we can still overeat with the band. It can be miserable but it can be done, usually followed by sliming and PB'ing. Between the last normal bite and that bite that sends us to the bathroom, there are one or two bites that say "that's just enough". Even if we don't PB, we can sense when more would be more than we really need. I don't want to stop then because it tastes good and I'm enjoying myself. But if I do stop, a minute or so later the desire to keep eating is truly gone and I feel really satisfied and healthy. Not stuffed, not uncomfortable. This feeling is what I guess that normies feel when they end a meal. Today I am proud and grateful to be able and willing to eat like a normie.

@@Alex Brecher, for the last several days this app has been impossible to use. Slow, jumpy, won't scroll smoothly. I've gone back to the website. -

FOR VETERANS - Fills for 14 cc band
JustWatchMe replied to fee139's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
In at 7.7 in my 14cc band. I'm at green. I eat slowly and chew well. If I do that I get the stop signal at about 3 oz or 4 0z of protein usually. Salads could go on forever. It's all about solid protein and chewing slowly. Mornings I am tighter. This morning I stopped eating my 2 scrambled eggs at about 1-1/2 eggs. In the evening I'm sure I could eat a whole omelette. -

Today is the first St. Patrick's Day in decades that I have more than one cute green blouse to choose from. My battery died on my scale today. That's one way to keep me from weighing before Sunday. Good luck to everyone handling or avoiding food and drink situations today. I'm sure my office will be a mine field. I plan to walk at lunch again and go to an OA meeting tonight. Enjoy your day!

Good luck! -
It's very stressful waiting. Hang in there. It's all worth it.

Just wishing you luck! Walk as much as you can after surgery and stay connected here. It saves my sanity daily!

Thank you for this motivational, wise post. I'm a year out and 100 pounds down. The real work of dealing with why I eat has just started. Why and what to do instead. It's hard but I'm worth it. So are you!

@@bacon, it's perfect. And congratulations. My day went like this. Breakfast was two cheese sticks. Snack was half a cup of pumpkin seeds. lunch was a small container of hummus. Afternoon snack was a quarter cup of almonds. dinner was five (yes five) Popeye's chicken strips with ranch. That was actually the better choice. My addict brain really wanted my favorite carby Thai dish, but I beat it back. For some reason I just had to snack today. Stomach started growling so I fed it. Twice. Me, the one who doesn't snack. I got 24 flights of stairs in, over two miles of walking on my lunch hour, a bariatric support group meeting after work where a plastic surgeon spoke, and then I drove to an OA meeting immediately afterward. The OA speaker had 22 years in and said she still occasionally battles the irrational urge to get her favorite drive-thru particular sugary treat when she is stressed out. That made me feel better about my wrestling with the Thai food obsession. It's been a full day and I feel I've been outrunning my food demons. Tomorrow I will have fuller meals. I'll make two eggs for breakfast and bring some Italian beef for lunch. If I have nuts I'll eat them with my lunch. Dinner will be a kale salad with some cheese. What I'm proud of changing today is that I will never give up on myself. Never. I am worth recovery and I am worth the hard work it takes to get to my goals. I've also started to live by the rule that if I'm afraid to do something, it's probably a sign that I need to do it. So now many times I do just that. I'm proud of that. Let's hear it from the rest of you!

Gail, creep to green. My last two fills were 0.1 each.
