Two pounds in a week is good.

Welcome to the forums. Your knees will be so much better after weight loss! I was in horrible pain at over 300 pounds and at 197 I walked my first 5k this summer. No NSAIDs, just the occasional Tylenol. Truly a miracle.

That is sad to hear. Some people are truly messed up.

How was your week? Did you feel the difference?

Never ever ever give up on yourself.

My favorite is thin cucumber slices in a pitcher of ice water. I can easily drink a lot of water that way.

What Are Your Red Flags when Choosing a Weight Loss Surgeon?
JustWatchMe replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Although my surgeon asked me why I wouldn't consider the sleeve over the band, he did not push me into the sleeve. He performs many lapbands. I would shy away from a surgeon that wasn't 100 percent in agreement with your choice of surgery. -

It's funny but his thread made me realize how many meals I eat out of a cereal bowl now instead of a big plate. I guess I just naturally downsized without thinking about it.

No worries. I flew 6+ hours a couple of weeks after my first fill without problems. Plan to not eat during the flight or immediately afterwards. Eat before. Hydrate during the flight. Wait a couple of hours afterward and eat something soft as your first meal. That's just worse case scenario. Many people report feeling tighter when flying and I believe it, because hey, my feet and hands swell and it's the same process. But I had no problems. I even did eat on the flight back. Have fun!

@@Alex Brecher, any idea when the store will open?

Lap Band March 2014. Lost 104 so far. I want to lose about fifty more. My constant hunger is gone and I can walk away from delicious food after a moderate amount. Nothing short of amazing.

No Wonder I Wasn’t Skinny!

Oh, we will be blamed as well. Already am. It's justified. Even though I was vigilant with my girls when they were small, my behavior as they grew older was the modeling they saw. I binged and ate all the wrong foods even if they didn't. Blame doesn't help. We only change the future if we change ourselves. -

No Wonder I Wasn’t Skinny!

Hi-C in my lunch bag instead of Fritos. I traded anyway. Margarine on canned veggies. Diet soda. Smartest thing I ever did was listen to my kids' pediatrician who said no juices. Their dentist said no gummy candies or fruit roll ups. My kids never developed a taste for soda. -

We are all so different. I appreciate the taste of beef much more than I did before. Now, in maintenance, I occasionally enjoy "Protein style*" burgers from In and Out. Especially when I get them with lots of pickles. *At In and Out Burger, protein style means wrapped in lettuce, no bun. Oh I love beef. I eat beef and ground beef all the time. I just haven't craved it in a burger, and don't miss fries at all. I used to go to Wendy's three or four times a week for a double cheese. Now I go once a month for a cup of chili and don't even think about the burgers.

I'm so glad I haven't had the desire for a burger since pre-op. I lived on fast food burgers and fries. That has been lifted and it amazes me.

What's it doing for me? Why have I never attained a goal weight in my entire life? I've lost weight before, and bounced back up higher than I started. Now with WLS, I've lost 2/3 of my excess weight -- 100 pounds. With fifty left to lose, I've stopped. Where's the drive, energy, enthusiasm to reach the weight loss finish line and transition into maintenance? What's the fat doing for me?

Wow, lap band went down fast. Knock wood mine stays good for life. -
This post made me so happy. Liz, post from London if you can. I can't wait to hear all about it! And I totally agree with your advice. I've been stressing over my weight hovering around 200 recently. No matter how anxious I got, one day it would be down a pound, the next day back up. I restricted my food and it didn't help. I got angry at myself. I starved myself. It still wouldn't budge. But I vowed not to throw in the towel. Somehow this week I found myself choosing more solid Protein and veggies, and the scale started to move down again, albeit slowly. I'm not suffering and I'm eating well and leaving food on my plate. I have no idea why it suddenly got easier. And I lost five pounds. I began talking to my therapist about the weight loss mental game. I don't think it caused this "better" week, but it didn't hurt. Bottom line, as always. Never, ever, ever give up.
