    Fluids and exercise

I don't gulp or guzzle, but I do drink normally and have since surgery. Two fills later, no problems yet.

    Banded on June 3rd

Hope you're feeling better soon. Every day should be a little better than the last. If it isn't then let your doctor know.

A bike! I tried riding about two months ago and it was too painful for my knee. Maybe I'll try again.

    first fill next week!

Totally not a big deal. Rather fascinating actually. If you get to watch it on fluoroscope it's pretty cool. Betty, you have truly been through the worst part already.

Hate the attention from my weight loss

@@gowalking, in the text of your post you typed that you were not banded. I think you meant to type that you were not filled. I noticed that too the first time I read it. " It helps that I'm not banded so while I cut up my food into small pieces, I can eat fairly normally time-wise"
  11. I had a weird mucous thing happen after my first fill. Not too extreme, but like a post nasal drip thing. Drove me crazy for a week. But it didn't happen after my second fill. Weird. I wasn't sick or sneezing with allergies or anything. Never figured out what it was, but it was gone after several days.

    Will I ever feel better?

@@toomuchrose, I'm so sorry you're having that rotten nausea. Like others have said, be the squeaky wheel and get relief. Always follow your doc's eating plan, but if you are and only certain things in that plan taste good right now, then just eat those. Like your savory soups. Don't worry about perfect nutrition yet. Worry about healing and hydration and keeping your banded stomach protected. Good luck.

I feel like I'm six again

Not a size 6. Age 6. Took a walk on my lunch break today. It's cool and damp in Chicagoland right now. I walked to the 7-Eleven and bought myself a turkey sandwich. I decided to walk around a few blocks, and get some exercise and see the results on my Fitbit. As I walked around the neighborhood, it dawned on me how much I was enjoying it. Even though I have only lost a third of the weight that I need to lose, the difference in how I feel is incredible. I am not out of breath, and my joints don't hurt until the end of the day. Before banding, I couldn't walk half a block without getting winded and having terrible back and knee pain. As I walked outdoors today, I remembered something my father once told me many years ago when I was a teenager. He told me that I was always an active child. He attributed that to the fact that when I was age 6, I had an operation on my knee. I remember that year well. After the knee operation, my leg was in a cast for an entire summer. I also was off of school for several weeks. My father told me that once I was back on my feet, they could not keep me sitting still. I walked and ran everywhere! When this memory came back to me today, it made me realize that I have that same feeling right now. Carrying 61 pounds of extra weight on my body prevented me from moving like a normal person. I was so sedentary, for so many years, that this newfound energy and ability is astounding to me. When I first started exercising the day after my banding, I hated every minute of it. Now I realize that part of the reason was that I was doing it in a basement on a treadmill in the winter. I was also still carrying a lot of weight, which made it painful, and tiring. With every pound I lose now, it gets easier. I am not huffing and puffing when I walk anymore. My knees do not hurt me until the end of the day when my arthritis finally raises its head. My back has not hurt me in weeks. I feel like that six year old kid who got her legs back. Remember the scene in Forrest Gump, when he kicks off the braces? And then he can't stop running!

    Your earwig for today

To the tune of "99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall" 99 pounds left of fat on this bod, 99 pounds left of fat. Lose the next pound, and dance all around, 98 pounds left of fat on this bod. Guess WHAT? Today I lost the pound that makes my FitBit tell me I have 99 pounds to go!!!!! Yahoo! I can really tell a difference in restriction with my second fill from last week. Such a small amount of food satisfies me. Am I exiting Bandster Hell for Bandster Heaven? I hope so!

How/Why did you choose Lap Band?

Tomorrow I'll be 12 weeks post op. I've lost 61 pounds. 27 before surgery date. I've had two fills and can feel my band working. I went to Italy in May for two weeks and ate real food every day. I lost 0.2 of a pound on my trip. If I get other unexpected medical problems in my future and I had to, I could remove my band. I'm thrilled so far and I will be a success story. I will get down to my goal weight of 145. Read the stories of other banders who have achieved goal weight. Most importantly, be sure you and your surgeon agree, or find a new surgeon. Mine asked me why at 302 I didn't want gastric bypass. I told him my reasons and so he supported my band decision. He also does tons of lap bands so I was confident in his skills. Good luck and get informed. This site is a godsend.

    First fill tomorrow

I just had my second fill last week. For both of my fills, no pain. I was offered a numbing anesthetic and took it. I was told 48 hours of full liquids after the fills. My first fill did not really give me much of a full sensation once I went back on solid food, but my second one did. My advice is to eat very slowly as you try to feel the satiety signals. Eating too fast causes me to chow down right past "enough" into "too much". Good luck! And don't worry if you don't notice much difference the first time. Most people need several adjustments to get to their green zone.

    Medications

I was scared too, and bought liquid Tylenol by prescription for that reason. But my NP told me I was okay to take the caplets. They were actually better than the round tablets. I had an adjustment Friday and am a bit tighter, but I take them easily even in the morning. Just be sure not to break up timed release anything.

Ask your doc. I thought it was ok but then my doc told me four weeks. Ugh.

    Cooking for 5!

Anything you throw ini the blender with your soup will work. I added extra veggies to thicken my soups. Experiment with salsa, etc to give a kick.

    One Year Bandiversary!142+lbs Gone!

    Woo hoo!
  24. So my two college daughters are home from school, and our family just returned from a two week vacation. I've been doing laundry for three days straight and still going. Today I was carrying two stacked baskets down two flights of stairs. Huffing and puffing and having trouble seeing in front of me. It dawned on me to weigh the baskets. The two baskets together (27.2 lbs) weighed less than half of what I've lost so far (55). That means I'd have to carry four stacked baskets to equal the body weight I carried around only four months ago. This was a real eye opener for me and made me even more grateful for the loss I've had so far. No wonder I feel so much more energy!
