Lap-band surgery on 06/19, lost 18 pounds so far during pre-op
JustWatchMe replied to apespayne's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I second what Bandista said. My experience so far has been so much better than I expected. My pre-grieving the loss of volume eating, future Thanksgiving binges and crispy turkey skin were all wasted energy. I'm three months post op and 69 pounds down and I have my life back. -
I really don't get hungry until lunchtime either. I'm at 7 cc in a 14 cc band and 13 weeks out.

Green Zone-How does yours feel?

SandyM, pork was horrible. Twice. I'll miss it. But it's a small sacrifice to be at Green! -
Green Zone-How does yours feel?
JustWatchMe replied to JustWatchMe's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
B52, did that sensation of no hunger happen early on or take months of time to develop at the green level? I still get somewhat hungry at mealtime, but not before. It is unusual though, not to care about food during the day. It's very liberating. -

Tmf, that's how I feel. This is almost perfect, so why mess with it? I have enough easy food to still require discipline, but enough tightness to not want to go tighter. I'm scared of going too tight. I was thinking of returning to Protein shakes at breakfast just to get that protein in. My dog usually gets half or more of my egg. -
I cut mine a few weeks ago but alas, no change on the scale from that. I am losing my hair now though. I'm 13 weeks post op with a band. I have super thick hair so I'm hoping it won't be a big deal. I'm only on a daily multivitamin.

I instinctively reach for my glass if it is there. So get it off the table or cover it with a napkin. Set your phone alarm for 30 minutes after a meal and that means you can drink. Before the first bite take a nice big drink of Water. My doc allows drinking up to the first bite but nothing during or 20 minutes after food. It's only a habit. You can break it. Stay hydrated before you eat and it is easier.

My Best Friend and my Boyfriend do Not Know!
JustWatchMe replied to everfeels9's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
In my opinion, telling loved ones later about our WLS shares some aspects of "coming out". Our new body after WLS is who we are. We don't want to nor should we tell everyone. It's intensely personal. Our reasons for not telling others back when we had the surgery are related to many things: not sure how we felt about it ourselves (or not comfortable yet in our evolution from "con" to "pro" WLS) , fear of judgment, fear of rejection, increased scrutiny, fear of failure. I may eventually tell others outside my five that I've had WLS. One of the reasons I'm not doing it now is all of the above, as well as the fact that with social media, word will immediately get out to my employer and others whom I am not yet ready to tell. Your privacy is one if the few things that is truly yours. It's so vulnerable in this day and age. Don't be rushed. Do it on your terms. Maybe in a time of calm, you can write a letter to your BFF and another to your boyfriend and just put them in a drawer. When you feel like the time is right you can either hand over the letter or you can just reread it for yourself and then sit down and talk. Your life is your life. You've done nothing wrong. Good luck. -
This question has haunted me my whole life. I'm 53 and I currently like my job, but it's not a dream job. I love the answers here.

Port soreness. How long did yours last?
JustWatchMe replied to betty_s's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't do crunches or anything, but I hardly ever notice my port now at almost 14 weeks post op. If I push on it I can irritate it intentionally, but nothing I do day to day seems to bother it, including sleeping on my stomach. -
@@gowalking, I just love reading about your success! Yes, a good problem to have. I was just thinking yesterday how little I spend on food now and how seldom I am in the grocery store. I'll be making it up on clothes soon.

Daily Caliorie Intake

Mine is 800-1100 although I try for 800. Usually coming in around 1000. -
Looking forward to my 2nd fill!
JustWatchMe replied to lcoolpix's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I can't tell if I need another fill or not. I can eat certain things like salads without a problem. I can eat about three ounces of solid protein like ground meat without a problem but then I feel a soft stop. Other foods like pork chops get stuck right away. I'm thinking I will wait until my scheduled appointment in July to decide, but I will probably stay put. Salads and bread may be sliders for me, so I want to start focusing on protein and veggies only right now. I've lost weight this month but it bounces up and down. I'm on my second fill and have 7 in a 14cc band. -
3.....2.....1......BLASTED OFF

Way! To! Go! -
@@SwanRose, I was banded on March 13. From February to now I have lost 64 pounds. I haven't tried running, but I'm a walking maniac now. My back pain is GONE. I could not walk around one block before I began this process. I recently went to Italy and walked miles and miles every day on cobblestones. My knees and feet hurt by the end of each day but my back never did, and I never got out of breath at all. And Italy is very hilly! I am amazed at what this partial weight loss has done for my osteoarthritis so far. I also dropped one blood pressure medicine of two and am working on eliminating my cholesterol med and my second BP med. Off NSAIDs since March. Just arthritis Tylenol twice a day. Yes, go for it! .

I know!! I had to pack lightly for Italy because I knew I'd be helping to carry my daughter's luggage from her semester abroad as well. So I left my hot rollers home. Everything fit so easily. I thought no way did the hot rollers take up that much room!! I've only gone down a couple of sizes so far, but yes, everything is smaller. I notice it in the laundry each week as well. Great post!!

June Challenge-Here comes Summer!
JustWatchMe replied to lisaholland73's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
238.0 on June 15. And I walked 10,000 steps on FitBit today. Woo hoo! . -
I got stuck, really stuck, on pork chops tonight. Second attempt at pork chops so I guess that won't be a food I get to have anymore. For the first time I experienced sliming and spitting up. I fought it like hell but the burping up just wouldn't stop. I learned: The first bite of anything must be really small and well chewed. Wait a minute or so between the first bite and the second bite. At the first sign of feeling stuck, FOR GOD'S SAKE, WOMAN, STOP EATING! "Hmmm, that feels weird. Must have taken too big of a first bite. Here, my next two will be real small and chewed thoroughly." Yeah, um, NO! Those two extra bites were the ones that came up after fifteen minutes with about a cup of foamy phlegm. Live. And. Learn.
