Rollercoaster month
JustWatchMe replied to JustWatchMe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Colleen, that's probably what I'll do. It's hard for me to get an afternoon appointment with my nurse practitioner who does the fills unless I take off work, which I've had to do a lot of this month. My original appointment was July 8 and I already postponed it to August 5. Hopefully by then I'll know if I'm tight enough. -
Happy Birthday, BariatricPal!
JustWatchMe replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
This site has been my number one resource before, during and after WLS. At my surgeon's monthly support group meeting I always make sure to tell newbies (pre- and post-op) about BariatricPal.com. Spread the word! -

What does being stuck feel like?
JustWatchMe replied to GRE110's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You'll know. It happened to me twice. Both times with pork chops. Goodbye pork chops. Miserable pain, tons of phlegm, no relief until I gently spit it up. Ugh. -
I took Prevacid twice a day up to surgery primarily to counteract the stomach irritation from my prescription NSAID I took for years. Since surgery, zero NSAIDs, zero Prilosec, eliminated one of two blood pressure pills and eliminated the cholesterol pill. I take two arthritis Tylenol twice a day and one blood pressure pill and two Flintstones chewables now. The pharmacy is closing!!

You're a daily inspiration. You've got this!!!! -
You're on foods way earlier than I was. I had six weeks of full liquids before allowed any chewing. At one and a half weeks post band you may still be swollen. Just try to follow your team's advice. Good luck.

Medications right before and right after Lap Band Surgery

Oh and I take two Flintstones multi vitamins daily as well. But not the ones with iron. They bothered my stomach too much. -
Medications right before and right after Lap Band Surgery
JustWatchMe replied to bajagal101's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 53 going on 40. What you can't live without, get now in liquid form. You may find that several of your meds won't be needed as of surgery date. I used to be on nabumetone, a cholesterol med, Prevacid, two blood pressure meds and assorted other "as needed" meds. I am almost four months post banding, down 79 pounds from my highest weight, and only take one blood pressure med daily and arthritis Tylenol once or twice a day if I need it. Yes that's right. It's a friggin miracle. I am unable to take NSAIDs for life now because of my band. Thank God I don't need it now. Talk to your primary care physician ahead of time. Good luck. Your life's about to change and you'll wish you did this years ago. -
Godspeed to you. Your new life starts now.

Only a third of my weight is gone and I'm seeing the dreaded turkey neck. (Getting old sux. However, it is better than the alternative.) Does it ever "snap back" after age fifty? Any suggestions for me other than turtlenecks and scarves?

Wow, that is long. I'm Lapband and I had 5 days clear liquids pre surgery and 6 weeks full liquids post surgery.

Don't confuse pre and post op. You might have mis heard post op as pre op. .
