Hi all, 59 years and starting a new life!
JustWatchMe replied to Darlyn Dwan Rottkamp DeVoe's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Karate chops on the neck and shoulders helped the pain for me. It took several days to be completely gone. Walking helped too. -
Hi all, 59 years and starting a new life!

So glad you're here! I feel like my life has had the reset button pushed for the better. I was banded in March and have no regrets. Good luck to you! -
"Sorry that this post is so long, but sometimes it takes me a few paragraphs to explain what I am thinking." Worth reading every word.

HELP! I GET BANDED TOMORROW AND CHEATED ON MY PRE-OP TODAY
JustWatchMe replied to bandedmom14's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What they said. Be honest with your doctor. And follow their protocol. I was on liquids for six weeks post op. You can do two weeks. Good luck. -
Great job!

"Lastly, swelling from fills can last 2-3 weeks which can give off the impression that we're in the green zone and can just cruise on. " Tmf, I think this applies to me. I've got an appointment next Tuesday and may need a very small fill. We'll see.

Getting Reacquainted with ME!
JustWatchMe replied to enjoythetime's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
This is the kind of post that lifts me up just when I need it. I was having a rough time with my food recently and posters like you tell it like it is. We make the choice to treat ourselves lovingly and kindly EVERY DAY. Nothing magical about it. We slip and stumble. So what!? Get back up and start fresh. As I read your words it occurred to me that I started this process almost a year ago. It was September last year that I went to my first orientation seminar. Holy cow. What a difference a year makes. I was banded 5 1/2 months ago. That means for almost a year I've focused on health and treating myself well. Many of those months were months of struggling and floundering while I investigated WLS, tried to change my eating habits, succeeded a little, and failed a lot. But I kept moving forward. What if I had given up back in October or November last year when I was mired in overeating and feeling hopeless? I'll tell you what. I'd be way MORE than 80 pounds heavier than I am today, because not only would I not have lost weight, I would have gained. Like every other year. I remember what I felt sad about last November. I was sad that after WLS I wouldn't be able to pig out on roasted turkey skin again. It's such a perfect example of how our thinking is so messed up. And why it's so important to connect here with people who are motivated and taking good care of themselves. My isolation got me to 302 pounds more than once in my life. Connecting with successful healthy people and asking for and getting help when my head's playing games with me will get me to goal and keep me there. Thanks for sharing your experience with us. The sheer joy in your posts speaks volumes. -
Weight Loss Surgery, Unloving Thoughts and Behaviors
JustWatchMe replied to Sara Kelly Keenan LC's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
I needed to read this today. No matter how magical my new band is now, if I pick up unhealthy behaviors I can destroy all the good it does for me and harm myself as well. Thanks for the article. -
Wow! It's amazing what our bodies can do when we take off the excess weight. Congratulations!

Today is so much better. Drinking water. Ate my lunch earlier rather than later to prevent getting too hungry. Brought my lunch to work. Feeling GOOD! -

Yes! That mental leap from "I made a bad choice" to "I am a bad person" is what derails me. Not this time. Every day is a fresh start. I can't rest on my laurels and I can't sit in self blame. Thank you! -

@@4me4them, Yesterday was a good day and I broke the bad habits pattern. I stuck to my goals and walked at lunch and ate Protein and veggies at my meals. I feel much better after just one day. Got my Mo back! @@terry1118, MyFitnessPal is what I use. Good idea to use it to plan instead of just tracking what I already ate. Today I'm bringing a lunch instead of running out on my break. I have shakes and nuts in my desk but a planned meal is best. And the water! How easy it is to forget about it. I rely too much on coffee. Today I'll sip Water during the day. *feeling encouraged* -
I was banded in March and my whole life is changing. Welcome to our forum. You'll find lots of great info and support here.

All I can say is please hang in there until your fills start. It will make a difference but may take awhile to get to the right level. Good luck!

Curious if your feet change after weight loss
JustWatchMe replied to DanaKat's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I dropped about half a size and not as wide as before. Also my feet don't swell nearly as much as they used to before weight loss. And today I noticed that when I flex my foot I can see a BONE down the front of my leg from knee to ankle. I was so excited I almost took a picture. Matter of fact I may do that. ;P -
This sounds pretty bad. Your doc can't see you on an emergency basis?
-
Here's what I want to know. If they have to stick you a few times to get it right (happened to me for the first time last month) how is that not damaging something in there?
-
Oh I dream about that day!!! Congratulations and enjoy this milestone!

I was thinking something political. My husband and I were of different political persuasions and I often wanted to get involved somehow but never wanted the marital arguments. For some reason this keeps coming to mind now.
-
It is never a lost cause. If you think about it, we really start over every day. We make fresh choices every day. Today make them good ones. Your body will respond. As long as you are losing, even slowly, you are moving in the right direction. Good luck!

I'm not in the green yet but I flew to Italy a couple weeks after my first fill. I was advised to stick to liquids during and an hour after the flight. I did that on the way there but truly it was no big deal, and I actually ate a small meal on the flight home.
