They are cut and dry. BMI = or > 35 with 2 preexisting conditions or BMI = or > 45 is approved. If denied have doc resubmit.

I started at 225 and am now 183 after 6 months and extensive exercise. For loss over 100 pounds I would not recommend the band. Will have better long term results with the sleeve or bypass.

Does Your Band Get Tighter A Few Days after Your Fill
luv2golfnow replied to dmh102's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I feel it the first week then return back to feeling unrestricted. I find the band also requires willpower and learning to eat when hungry only. -

I commend you. 2 weeks of liquids to me was brutal. I think would have disappeared on liquids for 7 weeks lol -

Why liquids so long with band? -
I had my first stuck experience after being banded 4 months ago. Clearly was my fault not chewing enough and had no business eating a Popeyes chicken finger. Lesson learned. Once brought it up I felt fine.

I am always open and honest regarding my band when asked. The reactions have all been positive and actually 2 friends are now considering it as well.

I am shocked the pork chops didn't get stuck. Definitely go see your doc. That is too much for sure.

My blood pressure was high from nerves before surgery. Woke up with minimal discomfort and only got better from there. Good luck -
Exercise is necessary for long term success. Try 30 minutes of cardio 5 days axweek.

Dr Shayani in Illinois is well worth it the drive! Banded in Dec and down 37 lbs. No problems at all with less than 10 lbs to goal. He is very knowledgeable and takes time with all his patients.

Anyone with lower than bmi 35 with comorbidities get coverage thru insurance for lapband procedure?
luv2golfnow replied to fabu1978's topic in Insurance & Financing
Just curious if under 35 why would you not use a nonsurgical method? -
My doc's administrator was very good with appeals and mine was approved the first time. Important they understand your insurance guidelines. What state?

Sounds like too much. Should never get stuck.

Yes muscle will cause weight to stay same or add if shed most unwanted fat. If still not close to goal then workout with less heavy weights

I started at 220 and now 187. It has been 4 months and I feel great having the LB. But it is a matter of your own desire to which journey you want to reach the goal. There are many paths. For me I accepted the reality I needed help to lose and maintain. GOOD LUCK
