I'm 4 weeks post sleeve and still have very little energy. Is this normal and how long should I expect it to last? I have 3 sons, the eldest of whom is severely disabled and needs 24/7 supervision and care. There's only so long I think my husband can juggle everything (!!) but I seem to have spurts of energy and then flake. My diet/nutrients are as advised. Any advice?

It seems like we're all having different experiences energy-wise! I'm now 5-6 weeks post op and still easily tired/worn out BUT compared to a week ago it is slightly better. I've decided I need to look at it like this else I'll get frustrated - small steps. Everything else has been very straightforward and no complications post-op so very thankful for that! Still find it challenging to get all the protein/fluids in- but start each day with a plan of action and then do my best!! Also pacing myself and my activities - not expecting to have the energy I had pre-op as it's not there yet. But - really looking forward to having tons more energy (due to my weight loss) in the future! Basically I'm more resigned to it than I was when I started this thread but seeing improvement. Like so many of you say - it does get better.

What a lovely reply. Thank you. I am very lucky to have my husband and your 'virtual daisies' have made me smile. Thank you

Thank you all. I think I've been keeping my protein and fluids up sufficiently but will keep closer check . I have dropped my carbs majorly so I'll look at that also Exercise-wise I probably need to do more walking when I have the energy rather than doing the jobs which need doing round the house! It's all a big learning curve isn't it?! Thanks again for replying

Hi. I had mine on March 1. I've generally tried to 'go with it' even though I felt quite emotional and flat for first week- "what have I done" came to mind a lot! Have since perked up and embraced the 'regime' and future. If I've been tired, I've rested, if I've fancied a different taste to protein drinks I've found things which do the job. Tonight my hub has cooked up some high protein soups for me as I've found soups sit better in my pouch than puréed food. I know that there's a long path ahead but there's also no going back now and I'm just trying to work with it and focus my energy on that. My biggest challenge is being the carer for 16 year old son who has SLD and PMLD. However, prayers have been answered and he has been fab - he's understood that mum can't do his care and has let dad do it without biting him! Result!

Similarly, 4 days post op. Feeling quite overwhelmed about the decision I've made. Know that anaesthetic still in system and everything hurts but....!
