  1. I'm almost 2 months post-op and I've been doing very well. Besides some gas issues very early post-op, I haven't had any food issues. No nausea or throw up, I have a sleeve of steel. Drinking fluids has become sooooo easy. There have a few instance where I took a few big gulps out of old habits and nothing happened. It didn't feel great but I burped and I was fine. I've had spicy food and acidic foods and no issues. I've been losing steady of 1-3 lbs. a week for the last month and half which I'm ok with. I'm just floored how well I reacted to the sleeve. I'm sure when I up my exercise regime (beginning of the Jan.) I will feel even better. How is everyone else feeling? Does anyone feel like their waiting for the shoe to drop? Too good to be true? P.S. - Christmas has been hard. I've had a couple of Cookies but in moderation. Nothing compared to food hording in my Christmas pasts.

    Holiday Challenge!

241.8 - Ugh this stall sucks.
  4. As a newbie, I want to know what foods didn't work for everyone. I know everyone's different but I wanted to know what particular food just didn't agree with your new sleeve. I'm starting my "forever" diet in a week or so I just wanted some advice on what foods to be cautious towards.
  5. And it didn't take an amazing amount of effort to swing my leg over my other. It didn't feel like my legs were going numb for holding them in that position. It was amazing and made me feel like such a "normal" woman.

    Problematic Foods

Since being on my forever diet (1 month out) , I haven't had any problems. I've had bread (45 calorie slice ), rice (both white and brown), ice cream (no sugar added). I have come to the realization that food has its purpose. It is to nourish me. If it's not healthy then I am less likely to eat it. Whole grain bread, healthy carbs (fruit), and some starchy veggies are Ok in moderation. I have tried diet Pepsi and I don't like taste of it. Quite honestly, even if I have craving (because Lord knows I've had them) I'll usually eat something healthy but filling and I'm too full to even think about eating anything else.

    NSV - Crossing my legs!

That's awesome!!!! I didn't even realize I was doing either. I just sat down and it happened. I screamed at BF, "Look at my legs!" He was very confused why crossing m legs was such a big deal. Also, painting my toe nails is 4000x easier!

    Do you enjoy cooking still?

I have been an avid baker and home cook for as long as I could remember. I was afraid I wouldn't enjoy it anymore but I still do. I've been doing a lot of baking recently since it's that season but I haven't even been tempted to try any of my creations. Cooking is just as fun. Since my surgery, my taste buds have changed drastically so it's like re-discovering a whole new world.

    Problematic Foods

was this regular ice cream? Because I've tried no sugar added ice cream without any issues. Just a tip.
  10. Let me set the stage: I'm an avid baker. I plan on opening a bakery some day and even though I was sleeved a little under 3 weeks ago doesn't mean I'm going to stop baking. It took me a long time to develop a new relationship with food. Over the course of the 9 months pre-op, I started to associate food with sustenance and not something that made me happy. Baking makes me happy but not the way a half of pizza use to. I recently been testing some recipes for the holidays since I plan on baking some goodies as presents. I posted a few pictures to my face book and I had a few people telling me I should be eating pie and cupcakes. Now I want to be very clear, I didn't post pictures of me eating them just the end product and I haven't had any of baked goods in over 2 months. It really annoyed me because I know what I can and can not be eating. Its frustrating when people who haven't gone through the process or have never had any problem with their weight seem to always have an opinion on how I can be successful. I feel like everyone is watching what I eat.... Anyone else feel this way?

    1 month post op

I would check with your NUT since every plan is different. I was just given my soft diet outline today because I start the next stage tomorrow. I can eat a slice of bread or 1/2 pita or 1/2 bun or 1/2 tortilla Obviously all whole wheat.

5 days out.... Is this normal?

Everyone is different. I felt hunger and no restriction at about the 1 1/2 week mark. I would still try to eat slowly because you don't want to overeat. I've done it couple of time in the last 3 weeks and it's a miserable feeling. No worries though...just keep trucking along. Your sleeve will tell you when you've eaten too much or drank too much.

    Other People's Opinion

I have had a really supportive response from my friends and family which I'm so thankful for. I just didn't expect everyone to be giving me their uneducated opinion. It's always funny when someone is like "oh, I know someone who wasn't really successful with the bypass" or "I know someone who gained weight after the bypass". I just look at them and I'm like, "I got the gastric sleeve" It's more annoying than upsetting. I know everyone wants to feel like they're being helpful but it comes off rude sometimes.

    Other People's Opinion

Yeah, I know most their comments or questions are coming from a place of ignorance because obviously they just don't know but it is still rude. I guess I'm going to have get use to explain my sleeves limits. Thanks for your reply.
  15. I am nearing the end of my third week. I didn't lose anything from end of week 2 until just this past friday and even then it was only 3 lbs. I'm chalking it up to that I'm really backed up (TMI sorry) and at the 2 week mark is when I started to eat more foods. I'm hoping for better results in the coming weeks.

    constipation

I tried smooth move...nothing. I've been taking 1 stool softener a day - nothing. Should I take 3 a day (which the instructions say it is ok to up to 3 a day)?

    Exercise

Maybe you're not eating enough Protein before your workout. I was having dizzy spells and it was because I wasn't eating enough and possibly dehydrated.
  19. I have been experiencing some dizziness that last couple of hours. Nothing severe, no fever, I've had plenty of fluids today...? It doesn't make any sense? Any thoughts?
  20. Pre-op, I was doing 35 minutes on the elliptical at a moderate pace every other day and strength training all the other days. Since getting sleeved, I've been limited to walking which is frustratingly slow and boring even while watching netflix and listening to music on my phone. I decided to go to the gym to today and hit the treadmills. I did 35 minutes alternating between 2.5 mph and 3 mph. I feel great, maybe a little tired but really great. I was thinking of trying the elliptical once my incision are fully healed (they are practically heal but still a little sore on the largest) and possibly a recumbent bike. Has anyone else found gym equipment that works for them early in the post op process?

First day back at the gym!

    Good to know. Thanks everyone
