  1. I would like to have some MFP friends, please add me kimber529. I had my sleeve 3/5/14.
  2. Harringm13, how many threads are you going to high jack with this info? I'm sorry you got this diagnosis, but there are risks to everything. We all read the pros and cons and everyone should be aware of their particular risk factors. However, there is no reputable evidence showing that WLS contributes to esophageal cancer and gastric sleeve and gastric banding are in no way the same or similar surgery. GERD is a risk factor for esophageal cancer, but guess what? Most morbidly obese people already have GERD. The risk of cancer is greatly increased in every obese person, that is a fact. The benefits of losing weight are enormous, remaining morbidly obese is a death sentence. Please stop trying to scare people away from a life saving surgery because of your unfortunate luck.
  3. I had VSG on March 5, everything has been going well, I'm still on clears until Wednesday. Yesterday I was so hungry/sick of clear liquids I could have cried. I needed something new to sip on, so... I puréed a can of onion soup and ran it through a fine sieve until it was a thin liquid. It was so good and I finally felt like I had something in my stomach. Sounds good right? Well I woke up today still feeling full and can't really drink more than a sip or two. I'm paranoid that I may have done something by straying off the cricket broth. Has this happened to anyone. How can I still feel full?
  4. Damn auto correct, chicken broth. I would definitely steer clear of cricket broth too!

    Liquid meds...

I also had surgery on Wednesday, my surgeon allows his patients to use a pill splitter and cut meds to the size of a tic tac and swallow them that way. Maybe you could ask your surgeon about that. As for the protein shakes, I can't really think about swallowing them yet, more so because of the milk content. Unjury has a chicken soup packet that you mix with water and it actually is good; they also have strawberry sorbet flavor that you can mix with water or lemonade, it's not super sweet, and you can add a little extra water to try to cut the sweet a little more. God luck, we'll get through it

    Surgery tomorrow

Had surgery Wednesday, just got home 1/2 hour ago. I slept the entire day and night after surgery. Yesterday I felt like hell, I was actually starting to think I made a big mistake. Woke up this morning, pain was minimal, nausea was gone and after 6-7 laps around the floor I feel like a new person. I hope all is going well for all of the other fresh post-ops. Kim
  7. I have been thinking about else for years. In January of this year I made a final decision to take charge of my life. I was very lucky, I had all of my prerequisites done in 2 weeks and I was approved by the insurance in 1 week. My surgery date is 3/5/14. I can't believe how the time flew by, it doesn't seem real that my surgery is tomorrow. I have been reading a lot of the posts on here and it has helped me a lot. I was anxious for my surgery date to get here, but now that it's here I am really nervous.
