Today is the day and I'm trying to keep my cool. (I'm a nurse and over think things when it comes to surgery.) The whole clears and prep, etc wasn't so bad but the growing headache is wearing on me. I've tried to keep my feelings about the surgery low key. I've been afraid to get excited because at every corner I just knew some glitch would occur. Somehow I made it to this point and have mixed feelings. (I imagine it's quite normal.) I seem to wavering on excitement and guilt, nervousness, eagerness, fear. More of me though just wants to go and just get it done and past me so I can move on! The support I've gotten from other RNY patients, being friends and strangers has been a big comfort to me and very encouraging! So, about to get ready for the hospital...Please send prayers and positive vibes my way!

Well, it's been a long road, but my surgery day is Wednesday the 17th. My issue, these God awful shakes!!! I've never been a milky type of drink drinker, but this has been my big thing of dread! The shakes! I understand the importance, and Im going to do my best, but to hear that they have to be at room temp is enough to make me hurl just thinking about it. Any suggestions???

The guys. It helps just knowing I'm not alone. Honestly...I think it's more of a texture thing then taste. That filmy milky feel. Ugh!

Hi Polly, I hope you find what you need here. I'm new and readying myself fot the RNY this next Wednesday. You have to find out what works for you, but you've been down this path before. You'll figure it out! -
As of yet, Bariatric advantage.

While doing all the pre op appointments etc. And EGD, they have found a precancerous polyp on my esophagus that needs to be removed and can't be done locally. I'm so confused and lost. Anyone else have an issue like this and how did it turn out?

I'm still in the very beginning stages where I'm still making decisions, Doc visits, Waiting for approval, sampling these God awful shakes. There maybe once was a time that even I viewed it as an "easy way out." So far, nothing about this process has been easy. Quite challenging, and I really don't expect it to get easier.

I'm very new to the process. I've had my first appointment and working on a nice little check list. I'm undecided as to the type of surgery I want, and worried about the "shakes" phase because I hate "milky" like drinks. Any advice, suggestions, or ideas are appreciated.
