Does anyone else feel like this is going slower than you thought?
snowkitten replied to Carriewhite's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Yes, I think about it alot. It doesn't seem possible to eat so little and lose so little. I lost the same amount as u did at 3months. AND i went through a rough stall at that time. I felt like i would never lose more. Now at 8 months I've lost a total of 70lbs postop and am in another stall and feeling like I won't lose anymore again. Some of us are just slow losers. No matter how hard we work. -
Right from the beginning I took all measurements and picture a so I could remind myself how far I've come. Well today I had to do a factory reset on my phone... not realizing I had all my stats on it. Now I've lost ALL my body measurements! I'm so frustrated

Venting - body measurements
snowkitten replied to snowkitten's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@@KingMoose I wish I did but.i have awful luck with electronics... my last laptop died so I didn't get a chance. My husband made me put my next stats on the iPad so it's backed up and hopefully won't happen again. -

August post op sleevers: Check in
snowkitten replied to motherof5's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have my follow up with my surgeon today. I'm SO nervous about what he will say about my weight loss. I've been doing pretty good since I last saw him. Lost an additional 24 lbs.... but then woke up this morning and had GAINED 10! I know it's water weight (a sure sign of my monthly friend coming) but that will just sound like an excuse to him. -
So I'm curious, how long post op did you see your surgeon for follow up? I'm seeing him this week for my "6 months" even tho I'm 8months (I saw him at 5 mo for an issue that he was useless for). If I have a great pcp, internist, and gastroenterologist who follow me closely, do I need to see the surgeon??

That's what I was leaning towards. I'm so glad to know there are others who have successfully done that.

Having a hard day today and feeling like a failure
snowkitten posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am having a really hard day today. Head hunger and old bad habits have reared their ugly head. I have an almost uncontrollable urge to eat carbs to increase energy (candy, chips, brownies, etc…). I have resisted the urge but it’s hard. Im SO tired and depressed. Im in my 7th month (8th as of the 25th and my next dr follow up) and im “behind schedule”. He wants me to have lost 117 lbs by my 1 year mark and at 7/8 months I’ve only lost 70. It doesn’t help that I haven’t lost anything in over 10 days… in fact ive gained a lb. Most likely due to my period but still depressing. What if i'm done losing and this is it?! I also keep seeing all these people who started out near my weight who have lost 100+ lbs in 4-6 months!!! Its making me feel like a failure and like I got the wrong surgery. Sorry for the negativity, I just really needed to vent to people who would understand. Thanks -

@@crazzeescrapper I had a very similar issue! I had a stomach flu for 2 weeks. The throwing up really messed with my stomach so I had horrible esophageal spasms and gastritis. I ended up only able to eat carbs too. But boy those are called sliders for a reason! Goes down easy and the calories add up! -

Thank you all for the encouragment, reality check... and kick in the butt ( @@LipstickLady ) lol. I really do hate to fall into the pity party mode. I'm generally a very positive person but this week things just hit HARD. I'm very happy I have a place to go where people know how I feel and give me reminders. Your all right, the time line my dr gave me isn't fair. He doesn't have the best of bedside manner. For example, when I asked him what size my Bougie was, he scoffed at me and acted like I was an idiot. He was also upset at me when I'd only lost 50 lbs when I saw him at 5 mths post op. I think that last one is why I'm so upset with my current loss. I see him next week and i really dread seeing his disapointment. I AM very proud of my loss so far. If I don't lose another pound (which I'm too stubborn to let happen) then it would have been worth it. I really believe this saved my life. -

It sounds like she learned how to work around her sleeve. It's very easy to eat enough calories to gain weight. If she's eating slider foods and drinking her calories. I can eat half a bag of chips (I havnt) but I can only eat 1-2 oz of chicken. and if she's drinking alot of specialty coffees. Those are like 600 calories each! Thank god I never liked coffee. Also, if she's grazing then she can get in more than she realizes. -

C-section numbness- results from WLS?
snowkitten posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
For all of those who had a C-section prior to WLS, I'm curious to know how the results of weight loss is in the lower abdomen. My nerves from belly button to public bone are pretty much destroyed so it's completely numb. I'm wondering what kind of impact, if any, that will have on losing weight in that area. -
Reversal for gastric sleeve?
snowkitten replied to Gladys62's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Im so sorry your having a rough time. Unfortunanly It's not possible to reverse the sleeve. They cut out 80% of the stomach and throw it away. There's nothing to reverse. Have u tried protein shots? I also can't stand any protein drinks. I also hate the shots but it's better than the drinks. I just hold my breath and drink half, then drink the other half later. My husband suggested I pretend I'm about to drink my favorite drink (pepsi) cause the anticipation is the worst park. It helps -
How can you tell with your sleeve
snowkitten replied to Lifeafter40's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It depends on the food but usually i would get a stabing pain, or general sick feeling when something doesn't agree. As for when I know I'm full.... for me it's the same as before surgery. It's the same feeling. But when I eat too much I get the runny nose and nausea. If your in the pureed food stage I wouldn't worry to much about the full feeling, that will come with solids. -
Question for the slow losers
snowkitten replied to AuriP's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I didn't realize I was a slow loser untill my last apt with my surgeon (at 5 months) and he was disappointed in me for "only" losing 50 lbs since surgery. I'm terrified to see him next month because I'm a people pleaser (especially with authority figures) and i know it will crush me if I get that same reaponse. -
FAILED GASTRIC SLEEVE SURGERY
snowkitten replied to SOPHIAAGETTYS80's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My take on it is that Per the radiologist your stomach and digestive mechanisms are all normal and doing what they should be. What will probably happen is your dr will look at the pictures to see what the size of the stomach is. -

Hey all, it's so nice to see everyone's updates! I was sleeved 8/25/14, SW:347 CW:280 so I've lost 63lbs. I'm thrilled to be back under 300, but I have to admit I thought I would have lost more by now. I know it's not a race... but my surgeon makes me feel like that. I know it's part my fault, I should be exercising more. Between. My illnesses and my mom's cancer I've barely had time to sleep let alone exercise. I have implemented more walking tho. Bought a fitbit charge HR and have been tracking calories in vs calories out religiously. Anyone know what's up with that? I burn more calories then I eat and yet I don't lose much? How is that possible? -

I was up 6 lbs this morning! I know it's water weight because it's about that time of the mo, but it's so frustrating!! -
My surgeon said after 2 months I'd be completely healed and could do any exercise I'd want. Ask your surgeon tho, they have lots of different opinions
