Let's talk about NSAIDs

Haha bittersweet your gonna keep me accountable huh? I just got through seeing the surgeon, he thought the swelling was weird too. He's testing me for cdiff and having me get a CT scan. He's worried about a leak or abscess. I'll update more when I know more. Thanks for caring enough to ask

Dd your surgeon say it was ok for you to take NSAIDs ? Or did you just start taking it on your own?

Starting my journey

Oh that's so horrible. I think everything cuts deeper when family does it. My sister acted like she didn't know me at her wedding. She has never weighed more that 110 pounds dripping wet and has always treated me like I had a disease and if she spent time with me the fat would rub off on her lol. When I told her about me having the surgery all she could say was "you'll have to watch everything that goes In Your mouth!". Lmao I already do that! Unlike her I can't eat everything in site and be tiny. I look at a cookie and gain! It's very nice to meet you as well. This is a great site, it has helped me immensely to talk with people who are going through the same thing. I hope you find a good dr but even if you don't know your not worthless. That's their own issues. Feel sorry for them. Soon you will lose the weight, they will always be jerks.

Let's talk about NSAIDs

That's really good to know! My surgeons office staff told me absolutely no NSAIDs for life. But I wonder if she said that because she had the bypass done. I can't exactly ask the surgeon now cause all calls go straight to her, But I'll ask during my two week follow up. Thanks!

Let's talk about NSAIDs

I had gotten liquid roxicet (oxycodone + Tylenol) but it's nearly gone. Norco is great but I'm looking for a non narcotic alternative.

What you wish....

Biotene mouth spray!!! My mouth and throat was so dry after I woke up from surgery. But I couldn't drink anything and even when I did it seemed to make it worse. My mom brought this to me on the second day and I was so greatful! You can get it at walmart (usually I the toothpaste isle)

AUGUST 25TH HERE!

Oh you poor baby. Constipation is no fun. I've had diarrhea since day 2 so I'm lucky on that front. Try drinking some prune or apple juice. It could be the narcotics slowing your system.

Starting my journey

Congrats on making this decision for yourself!! I'm so sorry to hear your best friend isn't being supportive. I've learned awhile ago that some people enjoy you being fat because it makes them feel better about themselves. They aren't real friends if they aren't supportive of you. I know how you feel about having "friends" and family not include you because of your weight. My sister excluded me from her wedding because she thought I was too fat. Ignore their negativity and keep positive. These people are better to be kept as aquaintances. This journey will help you discover who your real friends are. I was also afraid about the dr issue. I've had them judge me all my life and because of it a very life threatening illness was undiscovered untill I took control and pushed them to look further. But you will find out that most medical personnel are great cheerleaders in this journey. They are excited for you and tend to be very accommodating. However, If you find some bad apples just ignore them. There are many more people routing for you. Good luck on your journey, I look forward to hearing how it goes!

Waiting!

Ugh I'm so sorry you had to wait extra. I had the same prob. My surgery started at 1 but it was delayed untill 330 because the person before me had complications. BUT all went well. Might be a blessing in disguise because they will be extra careful with you. Best of luck!

Wow this us surreal

Haha I did the exact same thing. I had my house spottless. Including moving furniture and cleaning under it! But it was short lived. 2 days in the hospital the boys of my life (husband, 2 yo son, and brother) had it messed up. I never got to enjoy the clean house lol. BUT it helped a lot with the jitteriness and helped keep me busy so I didn't think of the preop diet.
14. Fever is gone but the swelling has turned a light pink. I'm going to call the surgeons office tomorrow. Thanks for asking
15. The preop diet sucks, but it will go by quick and it's very worth it. My Dr was planning to do a liver biopsy at same time as my sleeve because my preop tests showed fatty liver (its his standard practice), but he said when he got in there my liver looked great so he didn't need to! Try doing stuff to distract yourself. I cleaned to get ready for surgery. You can do this!!

August Sleevers Check In

I have FINALLY gotten in 48 oz of water. next goal is 64oz. The intense pain i get with eating/drinking has lessened. I can now take a few sips before feeling the pain instead of with every sip so that helps.
17. Yes I have pain in that side. Feels muscular and stiff, like I've done a ton of sit-ups. I took my meds and that helped the fever, and I put ice on the swelling and it brought it down some. I think I'll wait on the dr unless it gets worse. It does seem to be better today then yesterday. I'll update when I know more.
18. No leak test. I asked about it but they said it wasn't ordered.
19. My surgeon won't be in until tuesday. I don't want someone to do me, I just want to know if this is normal and if someone has had it what it was.
20. All my incisions are in front of my stomach, the swelling is on the left side, no where near the incisions. It's probably about about 13 by 10 inches. So it's not small. As for fever... I woke up after my nap and felt off so I took my temp and it was 101.7 Normally I have a low temp after waking up (hypothyroidism). I was hopi g it was unrelated that's why I didnt.mention it.

SCARED!

I'm having the same issue, except I have the unflavored Protein powder and I can still smell and taste it! I tries mixing it with a few things but it changed the consistency so I put it in flavored water. It was nasty and I ended up throwing up (first time throwing up). The ONLY thing I've been able to stomach is the liquid Protein tubes. I take a drink of it a couple times a day so I'm sure to absorb it. Good luck and if you find something else that helps please share.
22. I have the same symptoms and it makes it extremely hard to get all my fluids, not to mention protein! I have yet to figure out how to fix it. If you figure it out please share.
23. I've only been able to get about 30-40 so your ahead of me! And I've been allowed pureed since the second day. If it weren't for the liquid Protein tubes I don't think I'd even get that. Maybe you can try those.
