Amount of food...Kinda freaking out!

Would i not feel the restriction this early even if i had the last 3 weeks? Your absolutely right about the full feeling. I read a great article on here about that and i try to live by it . The problem im having is that i not only dont feel satisfied, i feel intesnsly HUNGRY. Normally i take about 30 mins to eat. I was a slow eater before surgery so after hasn't been bad. -
I'm a drinker....a gulper...a 4 glass kind of drinker during meals....
snowkitten replied to optasia's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was a big drinker too (nonalcohol). I would drink WAY more than the required amount a day easily. I'm 3 wks out from surgery and while it's become easier to drink than the first few days, I still can't drink as much as I used to. Maybe 4oz at a time if I'm concentrating on it. But the good part is that I always drank so much water to keep the hunger at bay. Now I don't NEED to guzzle water. You actually won't be able to drink any fluids at meal times. Every dr is different with their rules but in general it's something like no fluids 30 mins before and 30 minutes after a meal. Thats something i still struggle with but I hear it gets easier. Soda... Ah I miss it. You can still have it as long as you get rid of all the carbonation. I have found the trouble isn't worth it and to tell the truth the one time I did it to a 7up (had a bad upset tummy) it ended up being WAY too sweet. -

August post op sleevers: Check in

So I've been in a stall for the past 4 days. I put the scale away because I didn't want that stress, but I had my infusion today so they have to weigh me (the med is weight based)....stall over, lost 6 lbs!!! Wohoo!! My nurse called pharmacy to tell them to prepare the meds and they called back freaking out. They were concerned I'd lost so much weight since my last apt 3 weeks ago. Lol I had to explain that that was the desired result of VSG surgery. Made me feel good -
Congrats!!!!!

If they said you have to fast then don't eat or drink anything after midnight

3 day's post op and diarrhea
snowkitten replied to nonnax2's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Yes, I'm 2 weeks post op and have had diarrhea since day 2. They tested me for cdiff (neg). Surgeon said it was probably from the pureed diet and should thicken up once I go to soft foods. -
I am so so sorry you had that happen to you. Ive dated a few guys who did the same thing. Unfortunately I took the route of continuing to casually date them. I can't say I'd change things if I had the chance because these two guys led me on the path of meeting my current husband but I can tell you I wish I hadn't let it hurt me so bad. My suggestion is to stay friends with him, since you have fun with him after all, and start dating others. You don't have to make any commitment right now. Look for someone who truly admires you and just enjoy yourself.

Has anyone's Toddler called their physiatrist ?
snowkitten replied to FluffyChiq's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Lmao, i can relate. My 3 yo son's newest thing is calling people too. Yesterday I had my fu psych apt and I was at pharmacy waiting to be called. My son had my phone showing it off to another kid. He ran up to me handing me my phone. Someone was on the other end saying "hello?" Turns out my psychiatrist called me and my son answered! Don't worry about it tho. Your son's curiosity has nothing to do with you being ready for surgery. Just laugh it off and relax. -

I've been horrible about fluid intake and protein the past few days. I'm lucky if I get 40oz of water a day and I don't even want to think about my protein intake. I can't stomach shakes of ANY kind, and I've honestly forgotten to take the liquid shots I have. -
Ugh, my kid hit send before I finished my thought. I was going to suggest not being as concerned with calories as Protein. Maybe u can buy the protein shots for you both and go exercise with her. Afterwards give her one and tell her u read it's good post workout (which is true). Each one is 180 calories and 42g protein. Best of luck!!!

I'm still only in my second week post op so I don't have much contribuite, but I have read ALOT of these forums. I'd just like to warn you to tread very lightly in approaching eating habits with your friend. I've read so many posts where people think their friend is unsupportive or is trying to sabotage them. I don't want that to happen to u. I agree with the idea to encourage more water intake. Especially with exercising that one is important.

Great to have the post op thread. I find I'm better about tracking and reaching for goals when I read the forums everyday. It's hard to be bad when you feel accountable to others I was sleeved Aug 25th and had some odd complications that even made my surgeon go hmmm weird (swelling and redness on one side of abdomen no where near incisions and off and on fever). CT scan ruled out any leaks or abcesses so yay! Nausea and diarrhea are still being tested for but we're thinking im one of the lucky few who have a heightened sense of smell (feel the sarcasm) that causes the nausea. My mouth still tastes nasty (no matter how many times I brush my teeth) from the contrast for the CT scan. It's making everything I eat or drink taste nasty. I had to plan my son's 3rd bday party for thursday. I had to face a few people who cause high anxiety (no matter what I do these people find fault and then they gossip among other family members about me). Unfortunately between that and nothing tasting right I broke diet and had stuff I KNOW is bad. On the bright side I found out that the "goodies" I would turn to in stressful times don't taste the same. So now I'm not obsessed with the cravings. I still know I screwed up tho so I'm confessing and moving on. I've lost a total of 24 lbs since preop (13 preop and 11 post) so I'm pleased with the outcome. -

Very very weird. Mine usually runs about that too and then after surgery mine was super low. I wonder if they normally give BP meds and don't tell most. If you figure out their reasoning I'd be interested in knowing -
Ok let's talk pain! I know this has probably been asked to death but with new improvements in the medical field I thought I'd Ask again. I'm still in a lot of pain and while the narcotic + Tylenol pain reliever I was prescribed helps a bit I'm still left in more pain than I think is wise. And I honestly don't feel comfortable asking for a refil since I'm nearly out. Tylenol alone does nothing for me and I know (for me) the only thing that helps this kind of pain is NSAIDs. Of course, we all know we're not suppose to take those because it irritates the stomach. So I want to delve a little more into this. Are we not aloud to take ANY form of NSAID? -Is it only pill form that irritates the stomach and is a no no? -what about tordal shots which goes in intramuscularly and doesn't touch the stomach. - what about children's liquid ibuprophen? - is there an oral dissolvable form of NSAID that we can take? Note: I'm not asking for medical advice, I fully plan on speaking with my dr about it, BUT I believe in being well informed before talking to a dr and that's where all of your input comes in. So I would appreciate hearing about your experiences with NSAIDs.

Atenolol is a high BP medication. Do you have high blood pressure? Every surgeon is different and it sounds like you have 2 doctors looking out for you so I would just trust them and go with it. -
Help please, I'm afraid this is from a leak...
snowkitten posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 6 days post op and I've noticed that the past two days I've had increased swelling on my left side. I noticed it after I woke up from a nap. I was sleeping on my back and slightly to my left. When I got up there was a lot of pain so I looked in the mirror and there was a visible spot where there was swelling with an indent where the top of my pants laid (please note I wore very very loose pants so there's no reason for an indent except from sleeping on it). Now I've noticed it even if I don't sleep on the side (it's there all day) Has anyone experienced this before? Is it normal? My imagination is running wild and I'm afraid it's a leak and the increased water has leaked out of the sleeve(I could only get in 8oz but been working on 32 the past 2 days). -
What Was Your Final "straw That Broke The Camels Back"
snowkitten replied to bigjoe102's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Mine is a two-parter and a little complicated so I'll do my best to make it understandable..... I was diagnosed with CVID (common variable immune deficiency). Ever seen the movie bubble boy (either version)? Thats what i have. My numbers are pretty severe so I started treatment right away (they can only give me treatment for one part of the illness, not the other). After several months of a very high dose medication my numbers were still severely low (to give you an idea... normal is 900, I was originally 140, after treatment I was 400). I was told that because of my weight I was at the highest dose possible. Also, as I'm sure you all know, obesity is linked to illness. The medication they give me is geared towards bacterial infections, but I'm also deficient in the immune system that fights viral and fungal and there's nothing that can be done. So with the thought that I was still going to be constantly sick even with treatment (and I have to hide from big crowds and anyone who is sick so I miss out on ALOT) I started searching into WLS. Then my mom (who is my absolute best friend and lives with me) was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic cancer. There's no cure but they can prolong her life with chemo. Unfortunately chemo kills the immune system so anyone sick has to stay away. About a month of chemo and she was hospitalized in ICU after catching pneumonia from me. The idea that I could LITERALLY kill her and myself because of my weight urged me to push for the wls. -

After calling the surgeons office and telling him all my symptoms he told me to go get blood work and then come in right after. You were all right (I can admit when I'm wrong, really I can) , he said I should have come in right away. He's having me do a stool sample to test for cdiff (for the diarrhea and nausea) and a CT scan to look for leaks or abcesses. I'll keep everyone updated when I know more.
