Years ago, I found Kathy Smith's Workout to Lose Weight and I found it again after moving a few years ago. It shows you how to work out at home, using exercises that you would at a gym, but with simple hand weights, chairs, towels, etc..... I really like the warm-up stretches she has, and I always feel really good after a good, whole body stretch. After working out, I jump on my treadmill and turn on (don't hate me) Eminem on my cd player for my cardio. This time of year, with the bitter cold winds and inclement weather, I found that I am more committed to working out at home than joining a gym. Like last night, got home ready to read the paper, have dinner and plant my fat arse in front of the television. Then I really started to think about it, and put my sweats on, grabbed my workout book and started working out. Felt really good afterward, and actually ate better than I might have had I not worked out. I know that there a lot of other books similar to this one out there, but I started using this book back in the Fall, and I can see and feel the strength I've gained from using her exercises. I'm trying to gain strength and lose weight in order to be able to start jogging or running on my treadmill.

For me, Siggy's yogurt, it has very little sugar and has a sourness that takes getting used to. It's on the expensive side ($1.79 per cup), but it has a ton of Protein. I find that I cannot stand other yogurts (Greek or other) because I am so used to the Siggy taste. Atkins Protein Bars --I like them because they are lower in calories and total carbohydrates than a lot of others. I have not seen Quest bars in my area (W MA). A lot of protein bars that I have tried have a sugar alcohol aftertaste I really do not like.

I was seriously considering purchasing a Ninja, but I used my mom's old Cooks Essentials smoothie blender last night, and it did work really well. I think she just lost an appliance....

Got really far from the reservation this Holiday season
SnowFlake01106 posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You know what happens when you don't stick to your meal plan, and not keep up with support groups (meetings or internet)? You end up going way, way off the bariatric reservation, that's what! These past few weeks i have been very naughty about sugar, fatty foods and portion sizes. Made every excuse and rationalized my behavior with some pretty stupid reasons. I attended the required support group meetings already, but I just checked the calendar for BSMC, and thankfully there is a meeting on the 14th -- it's seems so far away! I haven't had my surgery yet, but I really need to re-focus my thinking to where it was when I began this journey. For those of you who are sticking to your program, and even though you might have your struggles, you are an inspiration for me.- 1 reply

Gained 1 pound. I need to go back to writing a food diary. Held me accountable for the stuff I put in my mouth.

Well, I haven't been sleeved, yet, Hell, I don't have a date yet! Still going through all of the pre-authorization jumps and hoops, but put me on the list! I could use a challenge to keep me focused while I wait!

WOO HOO! HIP HIP HOORAY! CONGRADULATIONS! WICKED AWESOME! I have a lot of respect for anyone who can make the commitment that this takes and sticks with it! I too am from MA, and going through BSMC in Springfield, with Dr. Romanelli. I don't have my surgery date yet, but hopefully for October. Keep up the hard work! -
Suggestions for Zumba DVDs and a great blog!
SnowFlake01106 posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
[sharedmedia=trackers:tickers:16849] Happy Wednesday!! O.k., anyone have any suggestions for beginner Zumba DVD workouts? Not only am I obese, but I have a bad ankle. Oh, and I have almost no rhythm in me, but I do need a cardio workout. While I was searching for recipes on the internet, I found this great blog -- "The World According to Eggface". Shelly was heavy most of her life, and had her RNY surgery in 2006 after her father passed away. Her blog is very touching, funny, educational, and she has a great collection of post surgery recipes and food ideas. I love reading her updates. -
Met with the surgeon yesterday. Very nice man, was honest and open, and had a good sense of humor. I can't believe I started this journey in late February, and I'm at the point where we are waiting for approval from BCBS! Went on vacation a few weeks ago, and though for sure I gained 6 or 7 pounds, and was really worried about being declined from BCBS. Turns out I lost 4 pounds! Down to 280 from 304 in February. I did share with him about this site, and how it's been a great tool to read about those who are on this journey, and the opinions of what works and what doesn't. I also mentioned what a good support the members have been on this site. I have been really lucky that not only did I find a great weight loss program, with an incredible team, but also this great website of fellow sleevers!

coffee
SnowFlake01106 replied to irisheyesrsmylng 1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just saw my nutritionist this morning, and as she was going over my food diary, she made mention of my abundance of coffee. She suggested to start drinking 1/2 regular and 1/2 decaf, and still be able to have the two big mugs I have in the morning. My coffee time has always been in the mornings when I get ready for the day. Once in a while, I'll have some in the afternoon, but because it effects my sleep, I try really hard not to indulge. I'm going to try it "her" way tomorrow, and I'll try and be optimistic that this will help me in the long run to get ready for surgery in the fall. -

Good question! I too have just started my journey, and I have really been giving this a lot of thought. Besides new clothes, I was thinking about learning a sport, like tennis or golf with my teenage niece. -
Lactose intolerance and Anemia

Good Morning all! Went to my initial class yesterday, and I had a couple of questions for those who have already had their surgery: 1.)Did you develop a problem with becoming Lactose intolerance after your surgery? 2.)I have a slight Anemia problem now, did you develop Anemia problems after surgery? Thanks to all who are open and honest on this site, your insight and experiences have answered a lot of my questions. -
