Smashelle replied to Smashelle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

Hi Hi Jersey Girl, I have lost 20 kilos since surgery at 11 weeks. I was a 24 and am now fitting in size 18's and i have an xl jumper I just bought from the NON plus section. It felt great. THank you for sharing.

Hi Everyone I am five days pre surgery and only 6 kilos down which is about 13 pound so mostly my clothes are fitting much the same with a few less elastic marks. My wardrobe is already full to the brim of clothes I don't wear but keep because larger sizes are not easy to come by. Should I bite the bullet and have a pre surgery clean out. Has anyone done that as part of there cleanse. I keep thinking that I will only need my most comfortable clothes for a while anyway. What I think I am saying is will I really need 8 pairs of size 24 jeans going forward. I have all these tunic and smock get ups for my own Job that I would never wear if I had other options. Maybe I have answered my own questions. I would love to hear anyone else's stories on what they did to get wardrobe ready. The most risky thing I did was buy a pair of pajama pants two sizes too small as they are super stretchy and pretty. Looking forward to your stories. Chelle

Premature Wardrobe Cleanout
Smashelle replied to Smashelle's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well I did do the preclean but it seams to be constant. I think yay I can get in that and it just doesnt fit right. It is a cleansing feeling. I am looking forward to being able to fit into NON plus size clothing. I am in the 16-18 plus size now, can wait for the 16-18 in the non plus size section. -
I can so relate. I was choosy about who I told. I am 9 weeks out and feeling great. I had alot of trouble with my Dad, he likes to feed people. One wont hurt, go on it will make you feel better, then he is the first one to say geez your getting fat. I went and stayed with him in the country a couple of weeks ago with my husband. I only had a little of my hubby's food as I was just on soft solids. It killed old dad, you cant survive on that you will look sick. I was like you gotta stop Dad you are driving me nuts. In the end I explained that I was getting everything my body needed in my shake and the food I could get in was a bonus and I had to be choosy about what I felt I could handle as in texture etc. He is ok now, but I so get were you are coming from. My boss is the same, I havent told him what I have had done just surgery on some stomach issues, he is always telling me to eat. When my eating habits were at their worse no one mentioned them, now they all want a say! We are going to have to laugh it off and just keep on keepin on,

I was done in Perth on the 18th of March By Dr Rao. His office is at Mercy Hospital. I hope you are both well and not too worried. It will all be over before you know it.

Sounds like what you are describing is the effects of ketosis occurring in your body. It's when your body is burning fat at very high rate and using that fat fuel for energy. I made the same query today at my monthly check up - told to drink as much Water as I can manage - not sure if it's what you mean you are experiencing though. Google ketosis breath and see if that's what you mean. Good luck. thank you all for your advice, and thank you GoldenGrl, I am always struggling with water, I will try and get more in. Thanks you.

I am 8 weeks and have a foul taste in my mouth when I am hungry havent eaten. Does anyone else get this. When I eat I can only eat about four table spoons and that is it. My weight loss is slow possibly due to not enough food but I cant possible eat more than I am. Any advice would be great. I barely eat as much as I would have for Breakfast in a whole day. And breakfast was my smallest meal.

Hi March Buddys, Here is my 8 week update. Sleeved 18th March 2014. Alarm Weight 127KG/280 lbs. Surgery Weight 121KG/266lbs Current Weight 107KG/235lbs A loss so far of 20KG/44lbs since highest and 14KG/30.8lbs since surgery. I worry that 30 pounds in 8 weeks isn't very much then I try and think how long this would have taken previously and get over myself. I can not eat much more than a quarter cup and worry that i don't always get my protein in. I started going to the Gym now and hope that will show some improvement. I just want to say thank to all the support in this thread, i don't always comment but I read and enjoy a lot of the advice. Chelle

thanks bec. I didnt want to give the wrong information.

I believe it is the lack of Protein, but someone can correct me if I am wrong. Apparently it is very common but it only lasts for a short period of a couple of months then it grows back. That's what I got from reading on here anyway, I haven't lost any more hair than the usual wookie in the bathtub yet.

I am seven weeks post surgery and I can eat the insides of the sushi lol. My sister bought me my favorite and I just left six wholes in the middle. She just shrugged and ate the rest. Maybe in a couple of weeks I will be able to handle a whole one, the rice is a little heavy right now. So it is great the Sushi bar is opening it is one of the better eat out choices available.

Friend said she's disappointed
Smashelle replied to beme2013's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Way to go, maybe I just don't have any class but you didn't cover any of the things I would have said. Is it just me? I find what she said to you damn right rude! I had this discussion recently at a party for a two year old, I had bought a gift that was the same that the grandmother THOUGHT she had put away at home for Christmas (YES IN OVER SIX MONTHS TIME). The Grandmother told me I should consider taking it back as she was sure she already bought the same one. (I have since found out it was not) I remember a time when it would have been good manners to say thank you and just deal with the double up dilemma. It is not free speech to be rude people. I think you did and are doing fantastic. Her disappointment is just that, HERS! -
I have been following all of your stories but not said much lately as I can have a little catch up on my phone at work. Everyone is doing so well. I am 6 weeks from surgery and doing great, I here everyone gets a little worried when it slows down sometimes. I do to, then I remember what an effort is was just to loose a half a kilo (a pound) and I remind myself that this is by far the journey that is getting me the results I am after no matter how quickly. Well done everyone!

It is the variety i am missing. I know I am not hungry as such, I am just trying to eat the best of what i can have. I spent nearly 50 bucks on whey protein and I can not stomach it in the shake. I will try it in other things tomorrow. I just had a spoon of refried beans with salsa, a little light cheese and light sour cream. It was like a mini Mexican feast, it was nice to break the monotony. It wont be long and we can have crispy.

Rate of Loss. 6 Month Weight Loss Metrics For Info/Comparison
Smashelle replied to Madam Reverie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
thank you to every one on this thread for sharing your losses and walls. It helps to know whats ahead. I am getting cranky over not losing for four days, I better get me over that. My next goal is not a scale one but physical. I just want to look at my back without the bakery (rolls everywhere). I reakon thats going to take a bit. Thanks again. -
Same, I am in the puree stage and I haven't lost anything for four days either, and I am 3 weeks out. I don't expect to loose every day however I am worried that the weight will stop coming off. Probably unfounded but a bit scary.
-
My scales are going out of my reach, I am becoming scale addicted. After a five year stall, yo yo dieting etc with no scale movement, I cant believe I let myself look every day. If my weight doesn't move for one day pffft. Weekly weighs for this chickedee. I am sure that the ladies that loose all that weight in a year don't do it at a steady methodical weekly amount.

Ten days post op- eggs?
Smashelle replied to srs531's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I tried eggs day 14 and still threw them up. Was very disappointing but I didn't measure them in a cup like my other food so maybe I pushed it. -
Losing pounds but not sizes
Smashelle replied to Jaguilar's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I dont have this problem, well not yet anyway. I just wanted to say you have done amazing so far and I hope it turns around for you soon. I know that I was in a TIGHT 22 and am now comfortably in a 22 and that too 20 pounds but I am a shorty. Good luck on your journey. -
You are so lucky, I had my surgery on the 18th March and my doc says liquids to next TUESDAY! I am going mad. So sick of tomato soup but everything else tastes salty or too sweet. I am sure it will get better but I could kill an egg.
-
Good luck honey, it is the start of a huge wonderful journey.

I agree with Kim. I decided when I made up my mind to spend the money and go forward with this, I was not going to allow myself regret. This is my tool and it will only work as well as I work it. The first couple of days were hard but the rest have only improved because I have worked hard at perfecting what I am meant to do. This is a steep learning curve for sure. I have a list too and would love to see other peoples- * Gid rid of the C-pap, no carrying it through airports and making sure I have international plugs! * Be able to fit on all of my out door chairs, not just the one or two. * Be able to put my own nail polish on. * Be able to reach the back of my high Kitchen bench without a stool because my tummy is not in the way. * Be able to wear my safety gear for skating and skate again. Even on weekends. Good luck to every one.
