I had my surgery 14, March 2014.. and I am happy to state that I was down 19 pounds on my 2 week follow up. I also had buyers remorse, but only for the first 9 days.. I hurt so bad at times that I was in tears.. Turned out that they were wanting me to get in more than my little pouch could hold.. The nutritionist and docs wanted me getting 4oz every 15 minutes and my pouch could only hold 2.5 ounces every 15 minutes.. so I was over filling.. and painfully uncomfortable.. Eventually IT DOES get better.. I am 2 weeks 2 days post surgery and I am doing quite well.. I am tired a lot still, however I do what I have to do to recover, heal and use this tool that has been given me to lose my excess weight

Any type 2 diabetics who are insulin dependant out there?
SaschiesMum replied to Lisa00's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well first off I am a type 1 diabetic (diagnosed just after my 3rd birthday) and am on a insulin pump. I was told to do what I normally do for surgery and bring my supplies with me. I will be on a insulin drip while in OR and recovery and until I can manage it on my own. If on shots of Lantus or Levemir I would take my normal shot and leave it at that.. And make sure they understand that you are a insulin requiring type 2 and talk with your endo for what you should do after surgery for what works for me might not work for you -
My surgery is 14, March so just about a week away

I was told NO mashed potatoes, grits (aka polenta) or oats until stage 4 solid food stage as they are hard to digest and hard on the new tummy

To tell or not to tell mom and dad....that is the question
SaschiesMum replied to rome's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I would love to tell my parents about my surgery, but in all reality I can not. I am 39 years old, and not afraid of what my parents would say. See my mum died of auto-immune hepatitis 5 years ago and my dad died of sudden cardiac arrest just over 2 years ago, so I can't tell them. Tell your parents, even if they question your decision to tell or not they need to know for most are there to support their children (even if they are parents themselves). I have told ALL my doctors and 90% of my friends about my surgery and they are excited for me.. -
Diarrhea Day 20 Post Op? Dumping?
SaschiesMum replied to lapnicky's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told to avoid all sugar post op. I use organic raw agave and was told that, maple syrup (grade AAA from Canada) is just like eating sugar and will cause dumping syndrome... So most likely it is the syrup.. -
I just joined and my surgery is scheduled for 14, March, 2014 with Dr Clifford Deveney at OHSU here in Portland.. I am wondering what length of time for surgery, the complications you have had (I know it is never the same in different people), how long you were down before you were able to go back to the gym (have become a gym rat in the last few months to try and lose some weight before surgery)... And all the other fun stuff that you went through after surgery
