  1. Hey All! Just a quick update. I am 6 months post-op tomorrow! I'm extremely happy to report that I am down 100 POUNDS!!! I'm 5.5 pounds away from onderland and 23 ponds from the OCC's goal weight! I'm so extremely pleased with my decision and the results. I look and feel like an entirely different person!
  2. I too agree with Kindle, Raven and B2B. I will also add that if you have any questions or concerns once you get back home Dr. So is fantastic! He has always answered my phone calls / emails in a very prompt fashion, which has been immensely helpful and reassuring. I could not recommend the OCC more highly.
  3. Good Morning fellow & prospective OCCers! I wanted to check in and give some feedback. Tomorrow I am 15 weeks post-op. I am down 70lbs, and am 70lbs from my personal goal. To those on the fence about having the procedure, I will not lie, it has not been an easy journey, however, I firmly believe this is the best decision I have ever made. I seriously want to write a letter to Dr. O and staff at OCC for giving me my life back. I am so pleased with how I feel. The only regret I have is waiting so long to take action. I had my three month labs, and everything looked great. My PCP was extremely pleased. My bad cholesterol is down, my good cholesterol is up, and all of my labs are normal! I have energy, (thank you vitamin B shots!) and I actually want to do things again. I hope tha things are going well for everyone else here as well. Reading all of the feedback on this post was the deciding factor for me to schedule with Dr. Ortiz, and I am so glad that I did. In essence, I have all of you to thank as well - so thank you all!
  4. Yesterday was my one month postop surgiversery. I have been feeling pretty crappy since Tuesday. I havent been able to eat or drink much. I spoke with my
  5. Oh for good grief. Sorry about the two posts on this - my tablet is not being cooperative. Anyhoo, I've been extremely nauseous and light-headed. I spoke with my doctor yesterday and he recommended that I go back to full liquids for 3-5 days as well as start taking Maalox. I have really bad heartburn, and everything is making me feel like I'm going to vomit. Tuesday night I had dry heaves and this morning I passed out. Should I be concerned about a bigger issue? I had a rough start post op, as I had a hiatal hernia repair simultaneously. However, priir to Tuesday I had been feeling pretty good; getting all my protein and fluids, walking every day. Thoughts, comments, suggestions?
  6. I am in the same boat as you all. I just started purees today. At first, I was fine. I had about 1.5tbsp Greek yogurt and are it over the course of half an hour. But now, about an hour and a half later, I am in sheer misery. I'm having the worst heartburn I've ever experienced as well as pain & discomfort where I presume the hernia repair is located. Ugh.
  7. I have been an emotional hot mess since my VSG. From what I have read on this and other boards, it seems to be pretty normal. Hopefully all of this will subside in due time. Another thing that I have noticed since surgery is that my sense of smell is highly elevated. That is bothering nearly as much as the mood swings.

I heard that people did it. You don't have your passport yet? I don't either yet. Hi Ladies, You don't necessarily need a passport to enter Mexico. However, US law requires that you have one to re-enter the US. Naturally, there are some rumors of people who have made it without a passport - but I have also heard stories of people who have had to wait in Mexico / Canada for several weeks while it is sorted. Regardless, I would highly recommend obtaining a passport prior to your trip.

I am flying Frontier and Sun Country (it was cheaper and I could fly in the specified time frame). Both of those airlines allow me to take my small wheeled duffle bag as a carry on along with a personal item (purse). I am packing very light. I'm bringing some yoga pants and t-shirts, sports bras, PJs, a maxi dress, some crystal light individual serve packets, phone + tablet, (plus their chargers), and toiletries. Well, my passport too - but, ya know. I am definitely packing light and my clothes are geared toward comfort. As far as Protein shakes go, I've ordered the unjury sample pack to see how I feel about the unflavored and the chicken Soup. I've also picked up a tub of my favorite vanilla whey protein from GNC (I have long been a fan of protein + fruit + veggie smoothies in the morning), and will be using that for most of the pre-op phase. It's quite good in the morning with some instant coffee, Water, and a splash of SF Torani Mocha syrup.

That's funny! I was totally wig shopping on the interwebs last night! As for Vitamins, I'm taking a women's one a day, but twice a day, lol. I'm also taking a gummy Calcium citrate, Biotin (the hair - no real proof that it helps, but it can't hurt!) and a liquid B-12 (energy - I've also cut out my beloved sf rockstars and thus seems to help) twice a day.

Oh yeah, I'm also a bit preoccupied with the hair loss. I don't have that much to begin with.

Well, for me, today is day two of no smoking. So far, so good. Next week I am going to start having a Protein shake for Breakfast and one for lunch with a low cal, high protein dinner. I have started my Vitamin regimen, which also wasn't that big of a challenge, since I am already a daily vitamin taker. Honestly, I am just so ready to do this. The thing that I am most worried about at the moment is my posterior fitting in the airline seat!
  14. Congrats Barb! What an awesome achievement! Your journey is so inspiring.

Haha! Yeeeeeah... I'm a bit apprehensive about that myself. If you hear anything on the news about a chick in MN on a hungry homicidal rampage the week after next, it's just me on the pre-op diet.
  19. I've read a few recommend bringing a pillow to press against your abdomen... any thoughts on this?

Oh, you are so on my wavelength! Sorted through all my clothes this weekend and organized them by size. Pretty much a nerd, but I don't care. I'm just so stoked that I won't be in my fat clothes for too much longer.

Hi Vallerie - I'm going to be having my surgery in TJ on April 7th. Who is your surgeon? I'm in the NW 'burbs, BTW.
  23. Hello to all the OCC Sleevers! I just scheduled my surgery for April 7th. I feel like this is going to be the longest 5 weeks of my life! I am so excited a) to have this procedure done; to stop procrastinating and start living; and c) that I have found this thread to share with a group of supportive like-minded individuals who have been through the exact same thing! Everyone's posts here have done wonders to quell my fears and answer pretty much every question I have had. Now if there was something to soothe the anticipation. I'm really looking forward to the coming weeks and months, and also sharing this journey with all of you!
