Yeah, it was about 11.50 for about 16oz.

Thanks for the info. I wish I had found the kit earlier. I ended up going to a natural food store and buying the syrup and tea from there. The rest I got from the grocery store. I failed miserably this weekend. I couldn't get myself to drink the lemon cleanse, but the weekday is a whole new beast so, I will try it from the beginning.

Thanks for the info. I will definitely be careful as I proceed.

I just came off of a week long convention/vacation. I did great. I managed to lose 3 lbs!! Its a new month and I'm about to go on another type of fast. My best friend started a lemon cleanse so I decided I would support her and do the same. I am not looking forward to this, but what is a friend suppose to do. The ingredients are way worse than our liquid fast, so I will need to pray myself through the next ten days.

I always miss the good stuff. I guess I will join the next challenge.

I'm so glad you posted this. I have been researching ellipticals all week. And I had finally decided to get one today. I am going with the CX998 from sears, its on sale for $699 right now. Did you know that ICON makes NordicTrack, Proform, and Reebok? I did my research and the general consensus was to get the Nordictrack but make sure you get the warranty. They are all for light to moderate use, I'm going to put mine right in front of the TV so I can get a work out and watch my favorite shows.

I may be a little on the older side I'm 26 and my birthday is Thursday, July 27th. I was banded on June 19th, 2006.

How did you find out about the Band?
mrlddst replied to lisah25's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I was watching the television while getting a pedicure and it just so happened that the friend I was with had mentioned trying to lose weight. Low and behold a commercial came up regarding it. I called first thing Monday morning...of course the wait for the seminar was like 2 mos. -
I have a Creative Zen Vision M. It 30GB I think. Anyway, I have a alot of songs up there. But my workout playlist consist of 2 regional types of music, house (lot of drums and bass) and baltimore club. It keeps me going!!!

Hi everyone, Just checking in. I was banded on June 19th, as of today, I have lost 30lbs including pre-op (10lbs before, 20lbs after). I keep losing and regaining the same 2 lbs . I'm trying to eat good foods, if its junk food like McD's than its a hamburger happy meal with an apple juice or water. I'm doing my Dance Dance Revolution at least three times a week.

Well I'm 2 days post op and I'm feeling better as the hours go by. I was absolutely miserable for the last two days and still feel like I have loads of water in my belly. It just feels sooo heavy. My mother took me out walking, house hunting actually. It got kind of crazy at the end. I reached my limit and just got too tired to deal with the pain, talk and walk at the same time. I'm on full liquids so while I was out, I picked up some broccoli and cheese soup to see if I can tolerate it. I just love the thickness of it...so much better than broth.

You can do it, I had to do 2 wks, so I can imagine what that is like. But hang in there when it starts!! You can do it.

Hi Everyone, I'm being banded on June 19th. I started my pre-op diet last friday and its been tough. Especially since I had to attend a cook-out yesterday. I'm hoping the next week will past by quickly. My doc wants you to say on liquids for another 2 weeks after followed by 2 weeks of mushies!! Its going to be be tough, but I am going to do what it takes!

I hate to sound like a commercial and this is probably old news to you all but Dance Dance Revolution 2 is really fun for exercising. I brought it a couple of months ago, just because it looked like fun. Well my neice and I decided to give it a whirl and played for 2 hours straight. It also has a workout feature where it can be set to help you burn a certain number of calories or do a certain amt of time. ITS GREAT!! The workout feature can also lets you keep track of your progress! It has settings starting at beginner up to advanced. I think it was like $50 and that included the dance pad. I was also surprised that I liked the music (sean paul, fat boy slim, beyonce). I recommend it for anyone who already has (or kids have) a PS2 or Xbox. Try it!! (Hate to sound like a commercial, but if you don't like it you can always return it.).

Wow!! Congrats!!

My date is June 19, 2006!! Yeah...congrats to all the June to-be-bandsters!

I'm right with you bubbyville. My surgery date is June 19th.
-
No, if you want cigna to pay for the visit, it must be about something else first (like high blood pressure, some sort of consultation), then weight loss(or weigh -ins, just make sure he makes notes about it) unless you will be paying for the visits yourself. Cigna will not pay for weight loss treatments and thats what they consider the weigh ins.
-
I have Cigna, I was approved, I'm 26 with a BMI of 44.

Its funny this thread is here, because I just finished watching this movie and I thought it was corny at first, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Its really ashame that I can empathize with everything she went through. Anyhow, I enjoyed it.

Hey Scudder, I don't know if they all had the same surgeon. One of my friends who had complications found out after surgery (she had it in 1995) that her doctor was renamed the butcher after several of his patience lost their lives for unnecessary reasons. He has since had his license revoked and she is looking into a revision. One had a clot in recovery and died, the other got a staple in his intestinal tract, recieved an infection and died days later after putting up a great fight. And like I said the other one problems are caused by her own ignorance, and my other friend had surgery recently and is doing just fine (85 lbs lost).
-
I have not had any surgery..so I don't know if I can even give my opinion, but I will anyway . I went to the seminars, read several books, and after much thought, I think the band is right for me. I do have a BMI of 44 and have over 100 lbs to lose to be at goal weight, but I hate taking pills everyday (reason why I get depo instead of the pill) so I know that I would bring about my own demise. My insurance does not cover DS, but either way DS or RNY, I feel like I'm only 26, I haven't had any kids yet and want to be around for as long as possible. No one could tell me what would happen to me after 50 or 60 and I didn't want to do anything that could potentially shortened my life (yes I know being fat that I already shorten my own life, but I don't want a surgery to reroute that). Now I know there are plenty of people who know plenty of people that have had the RNY surgery. Personally (people who were friends of mine), I knew or know 5 people who had it done, 2 are dead from complications, 1 is in/out of the hospital consistently and had gained most of her weight back, 1 lost her weight and has gained it back (but I always told her that she never had a full understanding of what she needed to do to maintain it, she was obsessed with knowing what if felt like to be skinny and couldn't handle it), and the last one is doing just fine. Even though these are only a few people, its MY world, as limited in scope as it may be, I think it would give anybody in my position a scare. So I will take my chances with this, work with it and hope for the best. If it doesn't hopefully by that time there will be another option for treatment, but only time will tell.
-
Well I glad that everything worked out! Let me know how it goes.
-
I just want to state that I admire her confidence to have the guts to post something so outrageous and that if someone actually pays for her surgery, I will be the first to admit that I'm jealous and why didn't I think of it first tee-hee! :faint:

Like I said see what you doc says..... If YOU know what your weight, exercise methods and dietary instructions for each month, then send them to your doc. They should correspond to the letter of necessity that your doc needs to send in with your other paper work. Draft all of these items and send them to him/her. I've found that the more you accomodate them, the easier it is for them to help you. "It never hurts to ask, the worse they could say is no." Believe me Cigna wants that 6-mos done by your PCP, no doubts about that one, so either ask or start meeting with your doc. And if you go to meet with the doc for weigh-ins, make sure you go in be seen for something else and then have your weigh-in done. For example, be seen to check on you blood pressure every month and get your weight checked, nutritional advice, and exercise stuff.
