Im due for surgery in September... I was told ill be on a liquid diet only 2days prior . I am happy about this because I feared the 2wk prep. Anyone know why certain ppl have to do a longer prep than others? Just curious

Does smoking marijuana before ir after surgery affect anyone at all. Do you still get the munchies after the surgery when you do smoke?

Seen my nutritionist about 2 weeks ago. So basically I have to take a womans one a day vitamins with breakfast (protein shakes) along with 600mg of calcium citrate with lunch and dinner. Seems pretty easy but I havent even started my protein shakes!! I know im slacking but I really need some suggestions on good protein shakes to buy or recipes!

I was so nervous hearing about everybody having to start their liquid diet 2wks preop that I asked my nutritionist if that was something I would have to do bc that would most likely be the hardest part for me during this whole process and she told me NO. Im only going to do the liquid diet 2 DAYs before my surgery! I am so thankful.. anyone else doing the same?

So I havent told my doctors that I smoke because im afraid I may not be accepted for surgery unless I quit and im worried that they may find out doing their own testing.. has anybody had any problems with their process with the dr knowing you smoke?

So basically I have gotten my cardiac, chest xrays, psych eval & pulmonary clearance. Just have to wait until next week to see my primary doctor to get letter of recommendation & clearance. Also my first nutrition class is next week as well. Im so proud of myself that I have gotten all of this out of the way within 4wks time. I just hope to get a date for late spring. I also have a referral to get an ultrasound of my gall bladder & an endocrine clearance? Not sure if those are mandatory. But I sure hope not.. these co pays are killing me. Im just ready to get a date so I can feel set about this whole process. Anyone else still foing thru clearances?

I had to get a psych eval, chest xray for my pulmonary clearance which was just a test on my breathing, cardiac clearance where they just recorded my heart rate/beat,and basically see my pcp for medical clearance although he did refer me already. Not to mention the nutrion classes (2) and one support group meeting. I think u should double check as well

Do I call my insurance company?

Do u guys know if the support groups and nutrition meetings need to be completed b4 I can actually get a date? I just need my medical clearance and those as well. O and I suppose my surgeon is going to do the endoscopy? Im sooo nervous for that :/

I also have been very iffy about telling people im having this surgery only because people are so judgemental. I told my mom and grandma who are like rooting for me bc they know ive been obese all my life so they are all for it. My sister whos a little smaller than me does not support me at all, I dont know if shes afraid for me and surgery or shes jealous. She hasnt quite been too open with me about it..she just says u need to just go to the gym. We recently got into an altercation and the first thing she starts coming at me with is about me being fat and wanting to get surgery and go cry about my weight.. like what the fuck. It hurt me at first but I had to remind myself how I feel and why I am doing this. I guess I cant count on support from her! My cousin whom I am cery close with knows and she supports me.. wants to know about every appt I have and is willing to go thru this with me. So im very thankful for that. My brother also.. his wife had the bypass and she looks great..so the only thing is that hes trying to tell me to get the bypass instead of sleep but my doctor recommend the sleeve for me and thats what I feel safe with doing.. besides his wife was wayy bigger than I am now. My only concern is my coworkers finding out. I work direct care taking care of mentally disabled individuals so luckily I work in a residence where there is only 5guys who only 4 of them would notice the change and 5 coworkers. So I dont have to worry about a bunch of people knowing at work. My boss has the lap band.. I havent told him yet but I feel a little more comfortable knowing he went thru wls and telling him but he also has diarrhea of the mouth but I will make sure I tell him that this is confidential even tho I know my coworkers will find out eventually... just been figuring out what kind of surgery im telling them im having instead of saying wls.. help!

Everything has gone so smoothly with my clearances that I feel like something may pop up in the way lol nothing.ever goes this smoothly for me BUT I am trying to stay positive. What does the endocrine clearance consist of? I just cant wait for all these appts to be all over and I can feel set with a date

Starting to have doubts.. time to time I overthink and think to myself am I really going to do this? Part of this reason too is bc I never had surgery.. never been put to sleep and im a scaredy cat. Smh anyone else feeling like this?

Yeah the nurse just weighed me.. asked my height. Then I talked with the doctor about my options and any questions I had. Then I had to take a breath test

While im trying to balance all these pre-op clearance appointments and work.. what else should I be doing during this process? Should I be trying to start eating healthier now? Well I know I should be either way lol but I also remember the doctors saying that you have to show some type of improvement in weight loss on your own before surgery can be done.

I totally feel you on this post.. some of your issues are similar to mines like being limited to wear I shop especially since things can be so much more expensive if you want quality plus size clothing and just not feel self conscious because I know how big I really look and feel lol. But most of all im worried about my health. I fear of cutting life short because of my weight

Be thinner for you! As hard as it can be sometimes you have to say fuck society and do you. Obviously deep down you want it for you but make sure its for that reason only so you can feel good about yourself before society

So just last month in January I suggested to my doctor that I was considering bariatric surgery. He recommended the gastric sleeve and then He referred me to the seminar at Putnam Hospital in Ny. Since then I have already attended the seminar which was last week Thursday and this past Monday was my first doctors appointment where I was accepted to the program and already my insurance has accepted the procedure. Now I am just in the process of getting all these pre surgical clearances done, nutritional classes and support groups out of the way so that I can get a surgery date asap. I am soo anxious to get this done because I have been constantly battling with my weight since I was a child and now I finally feel like I will be in control. Just here looking for answers and support from fellow individuals who are pursuing the sleeve or already had it done.

Thank you! Thats what I have been doing. And watching alotttt of youtubes videos, searching sleeve hastags on instagram finding ppl on their road to success and just googling. What have you got done or on planning on getting? By the way, thanks for the welcome
