My weight loss has slowed to about a pound a week. Very frustrating. On Monday I started a 30 day paleo challenge and I'm down 4 pounds. I'm hoping to keep that pace up. I have 120 more lbs to go until goal.

I was sleeved 3/20/2014. I'm down 46 lbs. weight loss has been a little slower than I wanted. But I feel great. I'm walking miles with no back pain. I've started running. I walked/ran a 5k last month and I'm doing another 5k on the 4th. I am working hard and the scale moving slow can be a little discouraging. So I am relying heavily on my non scale victories. Last night I put my wedding band and engagement rings on. They were a little snug, but I have not been able to wear them for almost five years. The proud look on my husbands face said it all for me. I'm so proud of myself. Surgery was not an easy decision for me. I fought it for ten years. But this has been the 2nd best decision I've made for my life. The 1st was marrying my husband. I love hearing others NSV stories. So please share.

Non scale victories
karinbuck replied to karinbuck's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Awesome job everyone! I was weighing myself everyday. I realized I was obsessing so I stay at once a week now. I find it keeps me in check a little. I am still battling food addiction so knowing that I'm gonna get on the scale at some point I try not to over indulge. Some of my other NSV's have been getting off of diabetic meds, cholesterol meds, not having to pee in the middle of the night (due to bad blood sugar), and not having joint pain. -
I was sleeved march 20th and I'm down 40 pounds. My diabetes is now under control without meds. My period cycle has changed from a 32 day cycle to a 29 day cycle. My period cramps have also gotten much more painful. I'm not sure what that means. But I will be calling my doctor soon.

101 lbs down!
karinbuck replied to Terri Lynn1383837796's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Awesome! Very inspiring! I am two months out and 40lbs down. I was kind of hoping for more by now. But I have had a lot of non scale victories. So I'm happy. -
Having Second Thoughts
karinbuck replied to ^Lolly^'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There is a book called The Emotional First Aid Kit. A practical guid to life after Bariatric Surgery. The first chapter is all about making the decision to have surgery. I hope it helps. :-) -
I love the song idea. Your right. You can definitely do anything for a tenth. Thanks :-). I'm very excited for my 5k in July.

Awesome! I was sleeved in march and I have my first 5k in July. I'm also curious how you started. I'm currently using visual aids like phone poles For example: run from one pole to the other. Recovery walk to the next pole. I was also thinking about the couch to 5k app.

To put it very simply. It's a syndrome where you form cysts on your ovaries. It is often mis diagnosed or not diagnosed at all. The classic signs are obesity, and irregular periods. It is linked with diabetes and heart disease in women. Although I have it and have tried to educate myself on it, I still don't understand it fully. Everything I have read contradicts each other.

Yesterday my husband and I took a day trip to LBI. We walked a mile on the beach. Walked around Bay village and fantasy island. Then we climbed the Barnegat light house. I did all of this with no back or joint pain. Awesome non scale victory for me. Especially since the scale has not moved all week.

I have PCOS and am about two months out. I was on metformin for type 2 diabetes. I was taken off the day of the surgery and have remained off of it. My blood sugar has been stable and I'm hoping to stay off of it. I am down 38 lbs and that's a little less than what I was hoping for but it's still progress.

Could vitamins be making me nauseous
karinbuck replied to shelly75's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Vitamins have always made me nauseous. I found that taking them before I go to bed helps a lot. I tend to be asleep before I have a chance to feel nauseous. -

Favorite Motovational quote
karinbuck replied to karinbuck's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I love Rocky! Next time I'm in Philly I'm gonna run up the art museum steps and hopefully not be out of breath like I was the last time. Lol -
Sometimes I like to read motivational quotes. They keep me inspired. I read one today that struck a chord with me. "I can accept failure. People fail all the time. I can't accept not trying." - Micheal Jordan. I think it struck me because I could not justify not trying everything in my power to lose the weight and get healthy after years of struggling. I'm 4 weeks out and I'm so glad that I have done this for myself. I wish I did it sooner. What are your favorite quotes?

"If it's both terrifying and amazing, than you should pursue it. ". Love this one also -
When does hair loss typically happen? I'm three weeks post op and have had some hair loss (not a very significant loss). I've been good about getting my protein in and taking my vitamins. I have definitely noticed more hair in the brush. I'm just curious when everyone else typically lost and how long before it came back.

Newly Sleeved, Too Much Liquid?

Yes and make sure to follow the rule of no drinking while eating and waiting a 1/2 hr to drink. -
Newly Sleeved, Too Much Liquid?
karinbuck replied to Pretty_In_Purple's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved march 20th. I had the same concerns. Within a week I was able to drink 11oz within a 1/2 hr. I was assured by others and my doctor that this is normal. Liquids go through you much faster. I really didn't believe this until I was able to eat soft foods. Trust me when I say I my stomach was not stretched. Good luck to all of you. It gets better. -
I'm a thyroid cancer survivor. I have been taking biotin since then. It helped. So I'm hoping it helps this time around.
