    CPAP

Not sure about your divers license. I have multiple diving certifications and am also a commercial diver. To date I'm not familiar with any restrictions as they apply to the diving industry. Please let me know, I hope this is not something I have been in the dark about.
  2. 21 lbs in 2 weeks is awesome. I just went in for my 2 week postoperative appointment. I'm down 13 lbs in 14 days. I wished I was doing as well as you are.
  3. Greeting, I am now 9 days post and on full fluids until Tuesday. My daily intake is basically Soup, Protein shakes, Water and some low calorie juices. I'm concerned because it seems I'm able to eat more soup than I thought to be full. I'm taking about 1 cup in each time. This is way less than I would have eaten pre sleeve, but I have not felt very constricted yet. Will this change when I move to soft more dense foods? Thanks for the support.
  4. I just read in another post that your new sized stomach is like a funnel. Liquids will pass thru and into the intestines rather quickly. Thicker liquids more slowly and once you start solid foods, not very fast. I had no problems getting my fluid requirement on day 2 postop but it required me to slow down. Good luck.
  5. I'm actually feeling very well. My surgery was 4-1 and I was home on 4-2. I had almost no pain whatsoever. The week of Clear liquids was not fun. Towards the 6th or 7th day I was very hungry. I was able to walk about 3/4 mile on 4-3 and as of today, I'm back at the gym doing 45 minutes of cardio (treadmill and elliptical) I don't know how much weight I have lost, but it feels significant. Scheduled for my 2 week postop on Monday. The full liquid diet from day 7-14 has not been terrible. Protein shakes and cream based Soups have been enough to satisfy me. Definitely looking forward to progressing to soft mushy foods on day 14. Good luck.

    How Much Should Be Enough

Thanks for the replies. I will start very soft, mushy foods on Monday. I was planning on starting with some refried Beans and to maybe plan to try 1-2 tablespoons. I was suspicious that the liquids were passing through the stomach quicker than a solid food.
  7. Started my week of full liquids yesterday and was curious to know if we need to be concerned about nutrition and calories during this phase. Some of the Soups I am taking in are a little high in calories. I believe I'm taking in around 800-900 calories per day now. Or is it not an issue until we get to a later stage of the diet. The liquids seem to pass through fairly quick and I am feeling hunger about every 4-5 hours. Has anyone used the no sugar added fudgesicles during full liquid phase?
  8. I was only sore from the incision that they probably pulled the stomach remnants through. The others had no pain at all. I had no hunger or appetite until day of Clear liquids. Dr said it was because of my activity levels of walking 1.5 miles and only about 100 calories per day. They bumped me to full liquids a little early.
  9. My surgeon requires clear liquids for one week, followed by another week of full liquids. Week 3 starts puréed foods. Has anyone got any full liquid suggestions. It's my understanding that blended soups don't count. I just had 1/2 cup of Campbell's Tomato Basil soup. After 2 weeks of clear liquids, it was one of the best tasting things I can remember in a very long time.

    Post Op Liquid Diet

I'm 6 days post op and have been restricted to clear liquids since. My caloric intake has been less than 100 per day. Tomorrow am I'm allowed to start protein shakes. I didn't make it. I just finished a protein shake. Couldn't hold out any longer because of hunger pains. Anyone else at this point starting to experience hunger?
  11. I'm two days post op and came from the hospital yesterday. I'm on week one clear liquids. By constantly sipping all day, I have gotten 50 oz of fluids. I also noticed some hunger pains that were easily curbed with a little sf Jello. Is this about right? Is it normal to have some appetite so soon? It seems I tolerated the fluids and the Jello without any trouble. Thanks for input from those that have been there.
  12. As of today, I am 48 hours post. I'm feeling fairly well for a major surgical procedure. Released from hospital yesterday around 3 pm and home around 4. Most of discomfort is originating from laparoscopic punctures. Also some sharp moderate pains that come and go which I believe are gas. Walking is my friend. Last night before bed, I tried to walk 20 laps around the pool. Felt some pulling type of pain on the largest incision. Stopped, took my pain med and slept well from approximately 10 p until 5a. Tried to walk some more this am and felt well until about lap 15. Good news is I'm doing ok on my fluids. By 6a, I have almost consumed 20 of my 40 required ounces. No appetite for food and no head hunger. Just hoping for a little progress each day. Hopes this helps anyone who is looking at surgery in the near future.

    Post op pain

I too was discharged yesterday. Mostly gas pains which are getting better by walking. The pain from the incisions seems better but the longest incision hurts more than the others.
  14. I'm in day 2 post op and am experiencing the same pains. I am trying to walk at prat 15 minutes every 3 hours. The pains are definitely better. As for water, I brought home the hospital cup that has markings in ounces and have been taking small sips all day. I'm approaching 48 oz for the day. Good luck and walk, walk, walk as much as you can.
  15. Lynne, good luck. My best advice is to start moving as soon as you can after recovery. I think it was my key to getting a good head start. I'm sure you will be doing great in no time.
  16. I'm lying here in my hospital bed the am after procedure. Feeling fairly well after what I've been through. The incision/puncture sites are the most painful part for me. So far no shoulder pain related to gas. I've been making the nurses let me walk around the unit about every 3 hours. I think it is helping. Next scheduled procedure is a Upper GI series with contrast. If there are no leaks, I should be heading home to start using this new tool to build a healthier lifestyle. I'm very much looking forward to getting in the gym to start working out again, slowly. Thanks for all the encouragement. Good luck to everyone getting ready to travel this path. It's not too bad at all (so far).

    12 hours post op.

I went down to radiology about two hours ago and did the upper GI series with contrast. There were no leaks and I have now been cleared for the clear liquids post op. As long as I tolerate the Crystal Light that I'm drinking 1 oz at a time, I will we going home. Everything is so far so good.
  18. The day has finally arrived. I am literally leaving for the hospital as I type. I am prepared to make permanent lifestyle changes and hope this is the tool I need to finally have CONSISTENT success. Hoping for a relatively easy surgery and be able to drink without too much difficulty post op. I know this will make an improvement in my life. Wish me luck.
  19. To my closest and supportive friends, I told them exactly. To the opinionated and casual acquaintances, I told hiatal hernia repair. It's interesting because hiatal hernia repairs sometime involve weight loss post operatively.
