    Informative Website

You need to talk with your doctor about Nsaids...they aren't good for your bands/pouches. So know I am taking tylenol when needed.

What did you eat 10 days post op?

I was about a week ahead of the program, so my doctor told me to try mushy foods in my second week...ate lots of mashed potatoes, oatmeal, sf pudding, protein shakes, creamy soups, fish, mashed veggies had a variety of foods, but made sure I didn't drink with my foods or after for about 30 minutes, then I started regular foods two weeks later...learned early on though things that I could or couldn't tolerant...but am doing so much better knowing the amount of food I should be eating 1/2 to 1 cup of foods (mostly protein) and chewing, chewing, chewing and takeing 1 minutes at least in -between bites. It is a learning process...due to some really damaged knees I will be trying to start to exercise more in a pool the 1st of May!!! Hope some of these things help!!! There is alot of good advice going on on this site...so use it and I am sure folks will respond with some sound ideas!!!

    Surgery in 3 weeks

I just know both of you will do just fine!!! It is a bit of change in life-but I can eat almost everything I used to with a few exceptions (that I have chose not to try or have tried and just can't do). One major thing to remember is the amount you eat!!! That is the trick. Hang in there ladies you are both going to do just great!!! As far as going to parties and all...I have done just wonderful there (once I could eat regular foods)...I maybe limited to which choices-but I just remember not to hog out and I was fine. I don't drink so that might be an issue-but have read red wines are okay and even beer when you don't overdo. There is life after lap-band surgery...honest. Best wishes to both of you...peepsbrown and micky29...will be waiting to hear from you!!!
  12. hey there gardenergirl2...I am not that far out as you are...but I would listen to what 2muchfun has to say...he had some youtube videos to watch and I know they have helped me. Like he says...we often sabotage ourselves by not eating the right things in the right amounts. So maybe going back to basics again might get you started in the right direction. I hope your journey picks up soon for you...will be watching for an update very soon from you!!! hang in there sweetie. this is the link he posted: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qa3Lwt6ElIs&list=UL

    Should i tell my bf?

Lili14 I agree with everyone...tell him...if he really cares he will understand that you feel this is necessary for your health. It will be very hard to hide...because first of all you will be on very different types of food choices for at least 6 weeks post op. As far as you being nervous that is normal, but you are adding extra stress to yourself by not telling him about this surgery. Wherever you are you are lucky, since my insurance wouldn't even cover me if I only had 25 kg to lose. You do what you feel is right though...but I concur with all of those that have commented on your post. TELL HIM!!! Best wishes sweetie...hang in there!!!
  17. wishing both enuf and cccv4 the best!!! I was lucky I was put on the Sugar buster's diet before my surgery...was easy to stick too. but so remember I did over indulge as well on restaurants that I thought I would never be able to eat at again. But guess what...I have gone to all of them now post op and although I don't eat anywhere near what I used to eat...I still have choices at each one of them. So don't fear there is still a realitively normal life after the band surgery...but it calls for healthier choices!!! Congrats to both of you and I will be thinking of you both (enuf today) and (ccv4 on Friday)!!! See you on the otherside like 2muchfun said...btw ladies he is a good person to get suggestions from...he's been there done this...LOL!!!

    My journey so far...

I am slowly but surely losing as well...it is so good to see such inspirational posts on this site. I too have to remind myself...that I am not going to be like everyone on here...but like to say you all are doing great!!!

    Day 3 post op !

I agree with BlissfullyBanded...I didn't get a fill until I was 6 weeks post op and the doctor sent me home with instructions as to what to eat from the 1st week up until my 6th week. The pain so I have read on here is most likely gas...they say to walk around in your house it helps. You do really need to get in touch with your provider though and get some help as to what to do next...and nothing but liquids for right now until you get word from them to change. I also agree again with her about little attention to you as a patient...try to get some help somewhere sweetie. Hang in there and hope things work for you. If you don't get any assistance...this is what my providers tells his patients to follow, although they are all different...okay? http://www.palmyrasurgical.com/adjustable-gastric-band-guide/post-bariatric-surgery-diet

    First fill, no fill...

FatHannah...try not to worry...and trust in your doctor...hopefully it is merely inflammation. I have my port in my left chest area..and I can feel it...sometimes during the day it is right up close to my beast other days it isn't noticeable at all. It was sore for along while, but no longer now. I hope they get you taken care of soon. Hang in there sweetie!!!

    Five Days Post op

jennvil...congrats on your band sweetie...just know you are in my prayers. Make sure you post on here so we can see your progress okay?
  23. I hope you have notified your doctor about this or his nurse!!! I know I had a hernia repaired when I had my band done and it took alittle bit more with pain...but it was manageable. You really need to check with him/her as soon as you can...okay? I don't think you would of slipped...it maybe something totally different...please call your doctor okay?
  24. How did your appointment go?

    One Month Post Op

I have had my first fill, my doctor only put 2 cc's in...which really has not given my any restrictions...so you really need to be honest with yourself and eat like you are on a diet until you get that fill (like everyone says) that get's you to that green spot. I'm looking forward to that time, but until then I am trying to be very mindful what I eat, how much I eat and especially how I am eating it!!! I have had to learn to slow down...it is hard to do, but I am accomplishing it day by day!!! You are doing awesome...Congrats on your 25 lbs!!! Will look forward to more posts from you. 2muchfun has his stuff together as does SandyM...they've been at this longer than we have...so remember to use their suggestions wisely...I sure have!!!
