    What the heck!

I was thinking about getting a pressure cooker, they sound pretty neat...my mom also used one as I was growing up. I don't have trouble with meatloaf-those I eat are very moist...but could understand if it was dry how it would get stuck. I have major issues with steak of any kind and although I haven't had a hamburger yet...I do make taco's and sloppy joe's...but both are moisted with a sauce too. so hope everyone can find a way to eat what they like with ease. have a great day folks!!!

replaced band and gaining weight! !

MamaMama...like justwatchme said please don't get upset with yourself. I am almost 4 mths out and have only had 2 fills so far 3rd is scheduled for next week...I only have 3 ccs in now and have no restrictions and am hungry most of the time too. but I am forcing myself to eat only what is on my plate (they gave me a plate when I got my 2nd fill). still my weight is coming off really slow (am unable to exercise yet) so that isn't helping either. so please don't give up on it yet MamaMama even though this is the 2nd time around. try to be alittle bit more patient with your band and hopefully this time will be the charm...I sure am going to keep you in my thoughts!!! this is a new way of life and I know that I am not always honest with myself with what I am eating...so I am going to get back on track and hoping that I get some of this weight off that is what I paid for...we are all in this together so hang in there sweetie!!!

    Recovery

Punkin6772 not sure what type of procedure you got...but that seems to be about the time frame most people take. I had my surgery on a Thursday and went back to work on the following Wednesday-but if nausea wasn't my problem I probably would have been back on that Monday. you take as much time as you need...and Congrats on your surgery and welcome to WLS land!!! best wishes!!!

    Just banded today!

ecgreen and chitownbander I am not sure where your ports are located, but mine is in my chest...my surgeon told me that they are sown into place into the muscle (in the chest at least)...so mine was sore for my first two months...then whenever I lay on my left side it gets sore too. not sure if that is what is happening to you...but it could be a question you ask your doctors. I hope you both get to feeling better...and CONGRATS and WELCOME to BANDLAND!!!

    Afterthoughts about my VACATION

HealthyNewMe, LisaCaron and Gowalking...I am sooooooooooooooo jealous, although I am an upstater New Yorker...I would have loved to meet you all as well and roam the street in NYC. really good memories there when I was growing up. I'm hoping that if you all get to Georgia you all let me know I would love to meet and show you around here too. some of my family were from LA so been there done that in both locations...sounds like you all had a blast. So glad HealthyNewMe you did so great...all three of you ladies are very inspirational to me...I am a newbie and trying really hard...have slowed down but seem to be losing at least 1 lb a week lately again. So here's to all of us on our band journey!!! Y'all are the bestest!!!

    So just what is success?

TMF I had both of my knees replaced at the same time...bummer...allowed myself to gain more weight that caused a lot more issues...so you are in a really better place to get your's done. I know even 38 lbs being off of them has helped tremendously. Will be thinking of you when you get yours done in the fall, please let us know that you are having surgery!!! Thanks for all of your advice on here too...it helps me so much!!!

I am so catching onto how to eat!

Hi there Linda Hayes...so it looks like you had your surgery last month sometime. you said you are having problems with the protein shakes, can you explain that better? are you eating any soft foods yet? I am not really sure about answers for someone with gastric sleeve surgery...but I think you all follow about the same as us banders. I know the shakes get really boring after awhile...I actually find adding frozen fruits and coffee to mine make them a bit better change. I did a google search and found a site that had ideas of what to put in them...they were actually beneficial to my tastebuds anyways. as for foods...I stayed with soft foods for weeks 3-6...fish baked, soft veggies, soups and stuff like that. when I went onto solids I tried everything I ate before, healthier versions though and took my time...I was having trouble slowing down, no matter what folks told me, so I am going to try this app today...wait 1 full minute in-between eat bit. If you need anything else please let me know, and Congrats on your new WL journey!!! take care!!!

    So just what is success?

Success to me is getting to a decent weight (still haven't figured out what goal weight I want to have yet), but most of all my success would be weighing a lot less be able to get around so much better and actually not having to take so much medications and being happy what I look like in a mirror!!! I don't know if I will ever get there, but that is what I'm striving for as my success. Thanks gowalking you have been a big help to me over the months too...inspiration for sure!!!
  21. Glenys Jane congrats and I hope this next fill works for you too. I am also 3 mths post op and have lost 38 lbs...close to 17 kilos right? I only have 3 cc's in my band and feel no restriction at all. Hoping your next fill gets you to that Green Zone!!!

    First fill

MrsPj...our appetite does get stronger as we heal and since there is nothing in the band (most of the time) and the swelling goes down it makes it more bandster hellville. but just try to remember portions, eat slowly, chew, chew, chew and no drinking while you are eating...then you'll be fine. the first fill or the 2nd really hasn't done much for me, but have read on here it does for others...so I am wishful thinking that it helps you out. but don't beat yourself up...TMF often says those first few weeks are merely a diet with a band. I am three months out...and get my 3rd fill next week, hoping it works...so hang in there and remember we are here to help see you through on your new journey. however, remember most importantly that if you are having issues the first person you need to be talking to is your doctor or his office staff!!! best wishes and looking forward to hearing from you soon. have a great day!!!
