I just got a 0.5cc fill on Wednesday. My doc says liquids for a couple days and I have but I've had a lot of heartburn and reflux. Why does having a tighter band cause this?

Antidepressants Post Op?
Wvcari replied to Erin Nicole Davis Kling's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I took Zoloft before and after with no problem. If it's a big pill you may have to cut it in half. -
I took mine off a few days after surgery. I have a sensitivity to any adhesive like band aids or tape. They were itching so bad. I had no problems

I was waiting to see if it relaxes some. I try not to freak out as long as I can drink. With other fills it seemed to relax after a few days. I can still drink water/protein drinks/Gatorade with no problem. I'm just a little concerned about the acid reflux and heartburn. My doctor is only in office on mon and wed and in hospital the other days. I'm sure if it was emergent the other dr in the office could loosen it, but I would rather see my dr. I don't think my office charges for a follow up if it is related to a fill. It still amazes me the difference such a tiny amount of fluid makes.

I think I'm gonna call on Monday. It just seems to get tighter and tighter. I had my last fill in November and could eat pretty much anything. It amazes me the difference 0.5 cc makes.

I'm a little over a year out from lap band and have had no real problems. However occasionally I have cramping in my stomach like I need to have a bm, but while attempting I get uncontrollable dry heaves (nothing comes up) until the cramping passes. I never had anything like this before lap band. After the cramping subsides I feel perfectly fine. It causes swelling (I'm assuming) in my band and I'm extremely tight the next few days. Any suggestions?

I had lap band placed a year ago in November. I have lost 55 lbs, which I am very happy with. I recently bought a Fitbit charge hr and have noticed that my heart rate is much lower than before my surgery. It regularly runs in the mid 50's. It doesn't seem to cause me any issues, just wondering if anyone else had this happen. I have read a lot about the lap band and its effects on vagus nerve.

I have checked my heart rate manually against the Fitbit and it is accurate. It causes me no problems, just made me curious. I had a cardiac work up before my surgery and no problems.

Any 30's bandies who started at 220-230lbs? I have a few Q's

I am 36 and was at 250 and 5'3" when I got banded in November. I have lost 50 lbs and would do it again in a heartbeat!! My belly is a little flabby, but with some exercise it wouldn't be. I don't have any other loose skin issues. Drink lots of water, it's helps with elasticity. -
I had a lap band placed in November 2014. I definitely had the shoulder/gas pains for 7-10 days. It seemed to linger forever. I tried the gas x strips that's dissolve on your tongue and it helped some, but walking/moving helped the most. I noticed the pain more when I would lay down to sleep and it seemed to be all I could focus on. Hang in there! It will get better!

I was wearing size 18 women's jeans before surgery. I easily wore size 14 jeans today!! I decided to try them on cause my others were getting too loose to wear, fully expecting them not to button. Excited!! Haven't been able to wear them in several years.

Next up.........12!! :-)

I'm interested too. My neighbor sells them and I've looked at some of the info on it.

My dr sent me home with rx for roxicodone!!! Seemed a little overkill to me. I took them sporadically the first few day, but after that only Tylenol. (Narcotics make my face itch so bad) I had pain in my shoulder that was gas pain, and I tried gasx for the bloating. It helped. The pain in my shoulder just had to work its way out over a week. I kept an ice pack on my incisions even after I came home. It kept them numb. I held onto my ice pack much longer than pain pills. Even after I went back to work sometimes my incision would ache when I got home so I'd put ice on it.

I've never worried about calcium. I get plenty of calcium through food (yogurt, cottage cheese, cheese, etc)

I was told that only a multivitamin was necessary. I take a gummy one just to avoid having to swallow the large pill. They even suggested flint stones chewable vitamins.

Stomach virus or food poisoning with lap band
Wvcari replied to meggs353's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have had my band since November 2014. I'm a nurse and work in a children's hospital. I got a stomach bug 2 seperate times 3-4 months out. Both times I had violent dry heaving, but nothing ever came up. It was miserable as I absolutely hate to vomit. On the second round my family dr prescribed me dissolvable Zofran. It was a lifesaver!! After these episodes my band was incredibly tight just from irritation (I'm assuming). I will never be without Zofran ever again. -
0.5 ml unfill and can already tell a huge difference with just fluids.
