How bad is the gas pains?

Minimal pain, minimal gas and no nausea...I wish the same for you! -
Quick question about hair loss
2boysmommy replied to Jennifer4775's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My hair loss started about 2 months after and stopped at about 6 months after surgery. I'm now almost a year out from surgery and it's completely normal and thick and healthy like before--maybe even better now because of the better nutrition and all the vitamins -
I interpret it as, IDEALLY we would never have it again...but sometimes you're desperate! I had a Starbucks iced tea for the first time since surgery the other day (10 weeks out) and had no issues at all. And it gave me quite a buzz since I hadn't had it in so long! So my thought is, we should save it for "emergencies " only.

Period pains!
2boysmommy replied to ThatGingerKelsey's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doc said 850 mg of Tylenol is ok..but no ibuprofen/Motrin whatsoever. The first period post-surgery was so painful, I took my leftover Vicadin just so i could sleep. Luckily the next one after that was much better. -
Slow weight loss in the beginning... Is this normal?
2boysmommy replied to Marygp836's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My results have been similar, sleeved 6/18, 29 lbs down( 68 since January) I had hoped it would be faster, but have had to accept my body can only change so much at a time. May be due to pcos, maybe just how I am. You might be similar--but please don't be too hard on yourself. It will happen! Just do your best and try to think of the pro's of being a "slow loser" if that's what you're going to be..I've been trying to reassure myself that I won't have as much saggy skin! -

Calcium Supplements Help Needed
2boysmommy replied to 3in1wOL's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got the Kirkland sugar-free chocolate calcium chews from Costco and they're not bad at all. Not too fake-tasting or sweet. I actually enjoy them as a little treat. And the price is good. -
I really don't think you should stress about this. It was one slip up. It's not going to undo the rest of the "good" you did. Remember, Some people don't even have a special pre op diet. I didn't ( just a day of liquids). I really really think it will be fine. I hate to see someone so worried for what I'm 99.9% sure is over nothing. Take care and good luck.

When is safe to drive?
2boysmommy replied to brendaliz_r's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My doc (through Kaiser) said a week or whenever you're off pain meds--whichever comes first. -
At 6 weeks post, how much was your loss total?
2boysmommy replied to mi75's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had lost 20 lbs at the 6 week mark. Now 22 lbs at 7 weeks. Wish it was more, but trying to be patient. 61 total since January. -
Rmarteo you and I have very similar numbers. I was sleeved 6/18. Highest weight 269, surgery 230, now 208. Just not sure of my exact goal weight yet.

I hear you,,I felt grossed out by that too so I NEVER blended my foods. And I have 2 kids LOL. In purée stage I ate foods that were soft anyway. Lots of fat-free refried beans, eggs, pudding, thicker soups. I just ate those in addition to my liquid diet, until it was time for the next stage anyway.

Protein Sugestions for Post-Op Liquid Diet
2boysmommy replied to brendaliz_r's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I have gotten through these 6 post op weeks on syntrax nectar and I highly recommend them! They're the only ones that taste "normal" to me. Have you tried them? Some flavors mix nicely with water (iced tea, fruit punch, etc) and the more "desserty" flavors I mixed with soy milk(couldn't have lactose first month). 23 grams protein per serving (100 calories). Secondly the Fit Frappe line by Big Train is amazing. -
June Gastric Sleevers Out there
2boysmommy replied to skjerstad's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Please add Jenn Minkin ? Thanks! -
Fezik-- I feel the same way. I'm 5 weeks out today. I went back to work Monday and have been struggling to stay alert and focused. I feel like everything at work takes me twice as long because I'm fighting being tired all day long.

I'm having a hard time losing my pre op weigt:-(
2boysmommy replied to Libra102's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Are you on My Fitness Pal ? -
Hermina that does NOT sound like enough. Are you sure? --who is your doctor?--cause that sounds very unusual. Why don't you get 3 meals? I was sleeved 6/18 and I would be miserable if I got what you get. well you have come to the right place--you will get help and get through this.

One suggestion I would have to keep her on track is to keep trying different things to drink, soups etc trying to find some she really likes, and which ones are more filling than others. For example-- thick tomato or cheese soups as opposed to more liquidy soups. Also when I drink Fit Frappe shake mix with milk, it's really thick and satisfying.
-
It's very concerning that she's eating solids without being cleared to do that. 5 days seems very risky to do that. I don't know how "tough love" you feel you can be with her but maybe you need to have her research the risks--I'm sure she doesn't want to have to go back to the hospital--and remind her the "rules" are set for safety essentially. I had a friend who went out for pizza and beer when he was supposed to be on liquids post-op, and the pizza got stuck and they had to open him back up. Well that has stayed with me and scared me into compliance. You're a good friend, it's awesome of you to be trying to help her.
-
Ria I think what you're friend is experiencing is totally normal. From reading a lot on here when I was Having that issue, it seems not everyone loses their hunger. Sounds like your friend is with us 'unfortunate' people in this one. It should get a lot better for her as time goes on though..I'm 3.5 weeks out and don't have that problem anymore now that I'm on puréed/mashed/soft foods Tell her to hang in there!

June sleevers, check-in!
2boysmommy replied to cutiecake's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Asdf12345 we are very similar I have the same issue and fears as you. Sleeved 6/18, eating about 1,000 cal a day or less, why am I not dropping quickly?! I have lost 15 lb since surgery but most of it was in the first 10 days. Like you, I also fear this procedure is not going to help me as much as it's helping the others. So anxious. -
June sleevers, check-in!
2boysmommy replied to cutiecake's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You can start Now I think. For me (sleeve thru Kaiser) soft food starts just past 2 weeks. You are way past that. -
You're stuck all day and can't bring in your own food
2boysmommy replied to greensleeve's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I've become an expert at "smuggling" my own diet-friendly snacks and bars into parks. I've resorted to putting snacks in a big tampon box inside my tote bag--no ones going to open it. If travelling with kids you can fill up one of those plastic refillable baby wipe containers, and they wouldn't question it. If it's a water park, try putting in in the middle of a folded/rolled towel, then just shove it in your bag with your other towels. I also think the doctor's letter's a great idea. We Do whatever we have to do, right? Good luck!
