I decided in January that I would agressively try to get approved for the gastric sleeve surgery after living all my life overweight. I am considered a lightweight by the dietician at the hospital so I am worried I won't get approved even with high blood pressure and obstructive sleep apnea (WHO KNEW?). They are putting me through all the pre-op so I am hoping they are able to get the approval and I'm not spending all my money on co-pays for nothing. I had my first visit with the NP, dietician and PT on April 3, 2014. I am now scheduled May 9th for the EGD and Colonoscopy. I did my sleep study a couple weeks ago and got called back to come in for the second study with CPAP.I was very excited about that because I need a solid co-morbidity for the ins. co. I had gotten weighed in for my start weight about 2 weeks before my first appointment so started on their mandatory South Beach Diet and lost my 5% by my appt. Now I have to be careful not to lose too much more or ins. will give me a hard time even though it is their requirement to have to lose 5% before surgery. What a pickle!
